Frank Sinatra - "Witchcraft" (Live on The Frank Sinatra Show) (1958) (Upscaled) (60fps)
This popular song about sorcery and voodoo was something Frank was very fond of doing as he performed this song over ten times throughout his career. This would happen to be the third instance of him doing it, proceeding just a little under nine months of his original studio recording at Capitol with Nelson Riddle as the arranger and conductor (May 20, 1957). Also included is a brief final segment followed by his show closing theme.
From: The Frank Sinatra Show
Air date: February 7, 1958
Network: ABC (American Broadcasting Company)
Locale: El Capitan Theatre [Hollywood] Los Angeles, California
Sponsor: Bulova Watches
Orchestration and arrangement of: Nelson Riddle
Lyrics by: Carolyn Leigh
Music by: Cy Coleman
*Audio was borrowed from another copy of this show due to the quality being slightly higher and was spliced meticulously to be manually synchronized. Audio courtesy of @Sinatra879 of www.sinatraology.com/*
*Video was upscaled significantly as my copy was decent, but very blurry and low resolution in a lot of areas. Made efforts to add detail, depth, as well as bring out the prominence in static objects that blended as a result of the original poor quality*
*Framerate increased from base 30fps to 60fps for smoothness throughout*

This song was brought to my attention after stumbling upon the sheet music accidentally online and seeing Frank's face plastered on it. After doing some researching I noticed the song was not only lacking the lyrics to be easily accessible online, but also I only found one other performance of this lovely song. To remedy that, I am providing the second ever posted version of this song by none o...

Of all the novelty songs Frank did ever so sparingly, this is one that stood out to me as one of the most beautiful and touching. Once you listen for yourself, you'll see what I mean. I will also note this song was originally written as a wartime song that never made its way to the general populous outside of select broadcasts. I will post a link to another version of this particular song recor...

I was skimming through what songs I noticed Frank barely did and came across these two he did in a short medley fashion on Bing's television show. Frank had performed "If I Could Be With You" before with Bill Miller backing him up on his radio show "To Be Perfectly Frank". This was the last time he had ever performed this song. The same can be said with the song he duets with Peggy Lee titled: ...

There is something special that has always gravitated me to this song. Likely because of the masterful storytelling and the hopefulness this song gives off. I for one am a huge fan and love the officially released version on the Capitol album titled 'Where Are You?' This version is unique as it seems to be the first version Frank ever performed of this song with a backing choir. I will also not...

There exists a version of this exact song Frank did with Dinah Shore on his radio program 'Songs by Sinatra' on September 26, 1945. That one is available on CZcams, as well as other streaming platforms. This version however is nowhere to be found when I searched for it, and I find a preference to this as opposed to the version he did with Dinah. 0:00 Introductory Music 0:11 Introduction Speech ...

This episode provides two unique songs that Frank only performed this show and no other time else; ("It's All Over Now" had been done as a shortened medley on Songs by Sinatra: December 25, 1946, but never the full song like here). Those songs being "It's All Over Now" and "You Keep Coming Back Like A Song." Also wanted to note Fred Allen and Frank had a great rapport and did a great deal of sh...

This particular recording of this song was done one month after the studio version was done for Columbia (June 7, 1943). The major difference being this version has not only the backing music, but Sinatra singing the whole song without a choral accompaniment. Thank goodness Billy Bigelow, a burly and not very bright thug back in 1876, wasn't played by lounge lizard jazz crooner who couldn't hold a note. And Billy could lick any others' father. Frank doesn't really look like he could. He would have made a decent Jigger.

At the time of this recording frank Sinatra drove the bobbysoxers insane ten years ago (meaning early to mid 40s). Cause this was during the very middle of his downfall and carrer slump. Which was really the biggest year where he was basically a “has been”

I don’t go based on accuracy I do it more on whatever fits the theme of the video. The only thing I attempted to do accurately was the skin tones because doing the rest as accurate as possible would’ve taken me months.
