Given I have listened to Frank Sinatra for so many years now, rarely do I get surprised at his phrasing abilities and vocal performances. This one however, I got the privilege to listen to recently and it absolutely blew me away. I present to you Frank Sinatra at his finest.
Frank had performed this song from what has been documented only once before this, and other than that has not touched the song since what was reported. So as stands, this is his second and final time ever doing this beautiful song.
From: Songs by Sinatra (Old Gold)
Air date: December 25, 1946
Joined by: Axel Stordahl & His Orchestra
Backing vocals: The Pied Pipers
Music by: Robert Katscher
Lyrics by: George "Buddy" DeSylva
If you want to skip straight to the song I will provide the timestamps below:
0:00 Introduction
0:42 Song Start
Audio has not been touched as the quality was already superb and I did not want to ruin the integrity of what was already there
The photograph source I originally had was decent quality just a bit blurry in a lot of areas so I touched and cleaned it up so everything is more pristine and sharp looking; accentuating all of the finer details in the image

Edit: Now included: manually time-synched subtitles - Zábava
Beautiful. The last note is something. Only Frank can be this exquisite. Thanks for posting this gem.
Wonderful song, thanks for uploading.
Songs by Sinatra 25/12/1946.
I’ve always thought Sinatra’s best years were 1946, 1957, 1970, and 1981. Thanks for uncovering another glimpse of the man in his prime!
On a side note: you’re a gem in the Sinatraphile sphere. Even if you don’t fully know or feel how much we appreciate you, I promise you are. If there is some other way to prove that we love you, I swear we don’t know how :)
I can't say I have a favorite year for his specifically, but I do find the years you mentioned to be very prolific in terms of his career. I also appreciate the kind words.
Best years for his voice was 1942-1946
❤
thoughts on frank sinatra A.I covers? Ive been loving it!
A lot of it is entertaining but still needs a lot more work. I am hoping for someday the recreation with AI will be so spot on so they can make it do the songs Frank never got to perform.
@@TheSinatraCollection Then we could finally hear Frank singing ‘That’s Amore’ and Dean singing ‘Fly Me To The Moon’. 😅
@@siennamay1915 Or we could finally properly restore some of his recordings

@@TheSinatraCollectionHiii if you’re available i have a question pertaining to a lost Frank Sinatra radio performance recording. I would assume you knew what i was talking about because i have seen you comment on it so maybe when i describe it it’ll come to memory. So here we go…. It was uploaded to youtube, it was titled along something like “Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman Sextet” i think it was titled with 1946 and in the beginning there was a advertisement for Old Gold Cigarettes and then Frank sung an opening of Night and Day. Now the real reason i care so much is the fact he then sings a song i can never find again. I’ve looked everywhere and that was the only recording of him singing it. It went like.
“One more dream and she’s mine one more dream and she’s mine. Things looked fine then i ‘something’ down the line. One more dream and she’s mineee” of course there was more but that’s the most memorable lyric. The video also included a bit by the pied pipers singing about a train. Then there was a duet between Frank and Benny Goodman. The video was deleted after some time like maybe a less than a year ago. If you do or have any info on where i can relisten to this recording (assuming the uploader had to get the source from somewhere) could you please share it with me? I would appreciate it. I follow you on instagram and i could message you there as well. Thank you!!! If you don’t have any info then it’s okay.
