RIP Bob Cole. Childhood memories of his calls. “Oh baby!”
At least I heard it from Shannon
Just heard about Bob Cole's passing. My condolences to his family & friends. He is, in my mind one of the greatest announcers, not only in hockey, but in sports today.😥🏒🏒🎤
@@thenextkurtmy old man told me
As a Utahan and someone who was at Delta yesterday, the atmosphere was absolutely electric; they had to start turning people away because it was standing room only and there were still thousands outside. You could see on Armstrong and the players faces how happy they were for the reception, and I hope we keep this momentum moving forward. The people of Utah believe in this team.
You'll fall in love with these guys! They played there hearts out in Arizona every game. Built for greatness; LOTS OF CAP SPACE! Go get ya some quality veterans to help the youngsters. It's a good program ya got there.
@elosogonzalez8739 I'm a transplant from FL to Utah back in the 20 teens and have been a bolts fan all my life, trust me when I say I know and I'm excited! Lots of transplants out here, every single team was represented in jerseys. Never heard the Delta center get so loud, everyone is as excited as hell.
I was also there yesterday and was incredible seeing so many people show up. I guess I had my expectations lowish.. I personally didn’t think it was going to be this big of a turnout. It was awesome, I seriously cannot wait.
@@austinpissey8789 Happy for you. I'm hopin that we can get hockey back in Arizona at some point, WITHOUT MERUELO! The guy is a Cancer.
Because utahans are tired of a losing basketball team that ain't shit!
that Vlasic contract is going to be one of the biggest steals in the NHL in the next three years. holy shit.
Shouldn't think the pope's bowel movement is hockey related...but I could be wrong. 🤔
Bob Cole is the best announcer ever in my opinion....I was born in 2003 and didn't see his prime but even so he was still special while I was watching and I'm very aware of his incredible legacy...Will never forget his final game, Habs vs Leafs and Ryan Poehling scoring a hatty and the SO winner. May the Legend Bob Cole Rest In Paradise and may his legacy live forever.
It's too bad you are too young to have heard Danny Gallivan call a Habs game - he was something else (to say the least) to hear. To me, he was the best with Bob Cole a close second.
@@blackenedmagic888 I ever badly wish I could've heard him live.
@@AceMatthew25414 I'm a die-hard Leafs fan but, like many other of my brethren, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him and the great Dick Irvin Jr. call a game. It's sad that he retired much sooner than what he wanted to because he knew his eyesight was starting to fail him.
Also recently passing was Al Shaver, voice of the Minnesota North Stars. Affectionately known as the Electric Shaver to Minnesota fans. He was 93 living in Vancouver.
Also known as Al" Close" Shaver RIP
Shannon will likely discuss
Al Shaver was excellent
I tried to watch the celebration in Utah greeting the Coyotes. Had to turn it off. It hurt too much watching all the suffering that we went through to finally get a competitive team and then to have them get moved.
I'm happy for the guys to be treated like the professional players that they are & have an ownership group that's willing to invest in them. Still stings, though. Take care of our boys, Utah.
They shouldn’t be allowed to be called the Coyotes and yes the Legacy should be wiped from the organization. The NHL purchased and transferred it they didn’t just move.
Call them the Utah whatever but it shouldn’t be Coyotes.
As tragic as events in Phoenix were to the die hard fans was, we have to admit Utah looks like a slam dunk decision. I had no idea how much they would wanted this team in Salt Lake City
The Kraken announced today that they're ending their relationship with ROOT sports and moving to a combination of Over the Air broadcasts and Amazon Prime Video within their broadcast area. Their broadcast team (Forslund, JT, Edzo, Alison, and Edzo Jr) will remain the same except for Piper, who was the only ROOT employee. This is a godsend for PNW fans since finding ROOT sports has been a shell game with the cable and dish companies. Hopefully more teams find a way to get more eyes on their game instead of holding their fans hostage to a power struggle with cable providers (looking at you, Avalanche/Altitude).
I wasn’t able to watch kraken games this season because of the cost (Portland resident here). This is fantastic news!!! Thanks for sharing 🙏
We have absolutely hated fubo and root sports. So crazy expensive with horrible low quality streams. Can’t wait to try something new! 🙌🏻
As an Idaho resident that is blacked out of CO, LV and Seattle games, it would be nice to have access to streaming Kraken games. Something tells me that an SLC blackout will be added to my list, with none taken off. Makes it nearly impossible to watch games in the West.
@@corey6393 The free streams are out there, have used them the second half of the season for the last two years to see the Avs. Even paying for ESPN+ only gets me half a season of Avs games. Google free nhl stream for the sites.
I encourage piracy as an Avs fan.
I hadn’t heard him much being American and all, but his call of Marty St. Louis’ goal on mother’s day in 2014 was one of the best calls of all time. RIP
I’m really rooting for Utah to have success. Excited to see what they can do next season
Oh boy the Hawks fleeced Vlasic's agent
Thanks Bob Cole for the memories! His was the voice of hockey in many childhoods!
Surprised you missed the big news out of Seattle where Seattle games that aren’t nationally broadcast will be broadcast over the air on local television, so no subscriptions required. They’ll also be available to be streamed in Washington, Oregon and Alaska on Amazon Prime. So excited for no more local blackouts for Kraken games
Wish the rest of the league would follow suit...
I'm wondering whether home games will be on local TV. Growing up in NYC in the 70s, Islanders & Rangers on local broadcasts was how you watched hockey, but it was only road games. Even when the Islanders made the Stanley Cup Finals, only road games were on free TV. Home games was radio only.
@@RRaquello They will! All the games will be televised on local TV.
@@its1027 That's pretty cool. I wish they had that in 1981. I never saw the cup clinching game between the Islanders and Minnesota until years later on CZcams because it wasn't on TV in NY. The next two I did get to see because they were road games, in Edmonton & Vancouver.
I was there yesterday in the Delta better, it was amazing, the atmosphere was extremely loud, the place was absolutely packed, we all had a great time.
This team is in good hands in the people of Utah.
Bob Cole was to the NHL what Vin Scully was to the MLB. Cole, Jim Hughson, and Paul Romanuk for years were the voices of Hockey Night in Canada on many Saturdays and during the playoffs.
Sad news about Bob Cole, he was also the voice of my child hood. RIP Mr Cole, you were a legend.
RIP Bob Cole, So many great calls, now heaven is calling for you 🕊️
RIP Bob Cole. I grew up on his calls. Alluding back to what you said about the criticism about him during his latter broadcasting years, I feel that Dan Russell (former CKNW AM980 Sports Talk host) put it best: "He can make anything sound exciting, even if he can't say a single name." It was a comment he made during the show a good 20 years ago, and it's stuck with me since then.
Chuck Kaiton is the voice of my hockey childhood. I'd hide a small transistor radio under my pillow so I could listen to Whalers games after bedtime without my parents knowing.
RIP Bob Cole. He and Harry Neale were not only one of the best play-by-play combos in hockey history, but in the history of televised sports in general - very few, if any could match them.
Also, his call of Joe Sakic's goal at the end of the Gold-Medal game at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics is one of the iconic sports calls of all time.
RIP Bob Cole, made every Newfoundlander proud
RIP Mr. Cole, you were a huge part of most of my Saturday nights when growing up!
RIP to a legend.
I listened to Bob Cole growing up as well. He was a legend in our house. #ripbobcole.
0:49 when Bob Cole retired, I started watching hockey on mute. Legend
RIP Bob Cole 🫡 "Ohhhh baabbbyyyy... oh baby for sure"
Always a big game when Bob Cole was announcing. May he RIP
I think the Bruins are living rent free in the Leafs head. You're right, it is really interesting to watch.
Bob Cole, Danny Gallivan... soundtrack of my childhood, growing up in East Van, watching HNIC on Saturday evenings.
I just want to watch hockey without having to divine the stars and solve an escape room to find out who gets to broadcast one game 💀
Exactly!
This one is hard to take on. Bob really made so many playoff runs special
RIP Mr. Cole
RIP Mr Cole. Always tough. They become apart of your family even if you never meet them. It was tough for me when Dave Nihaus passed away. I spent more time listening to him then i did with my parents
Sad t hear that bob cole passed away; he was my favorite broadcaster.
What a sad fate if the Coyotes franchise never comes back. From the best team in the WHA, to relocated, to oblivion.
Bob Cole was the best. May he rest in peace.
The lightning need to get shots on goal.
Listening in on game 2's broadcast I could only imagine Phil having a stroke when the Bolts just kept passing the puck around on the PP. It's ridiculous how they just keep trying to find the perfect shot every time
RIP Bob Cole. “Oh baby!” I agree that he was terrific.
Agree 100% on Bob Cole, THE voice of hockey!! RIP
As a Bolts fan, id be lying if i said that i wasnt extremely disappointed that we didnt get Boston in the first round. I think we matchup way better against them
Chris Simon passed away last month in March. I hope that a career video for him will be done about him hopefully sometime in the future if it's still possible.
WTF... Lebreton Flats is basically downtown. That's such an Ottawa way if thinking LOL. Maybe they'll build a badminton arena instead of a hockey one... (If you know, you know lol)
I was surprised by the large crowd that was there. That said, I am still skeptical that this is going to continue. Once the prices for the season tickets are set, many will either not be able to afford them and /or be willing to pay that much. I think the test will be after the first season, after the novelty has worn off, will the fans support the team and fill the Delta Center?
As a Avs fan, I am not going stop being one, and it would be wonderful to be able to see NHL games in Salt Lake. I wish this team luck. They played really well at home this season so if that trend can continue there is hope it will be enough to keep the fans coming back. Time will tell.
In regards to David Quinn, technically he was fired before you had a chance to publicly jinx him
"I hope you're having a nice Thursday" Me as a Leafs fan.......about that lol
I think Franchise Histories SHOULD stay with the city. If the Oilers/Kings moved to OKC, Gretzky never played there. There were no Cup games played there. Most of those players have never stepped foot in OKC. Why should they get the storied History?
Vlasic is a defensive defenseman. He played outstanding, considering how bad the Blackhawks were he was only a Minus 4 (in 76 games) for the year. Most D on a team like that would be a -20 or more.
rest in peace Bob Cole
Sad day and Condolences for Bob Cole -- what a voice for the NHL !
For the games last night - Oooof - Big Goose egg yesterday - payoff record now is sub .500 (8-9) 😬
So time to get off the mat with TBL and CAR are your winners today
Bob Cole has entered the afterlife and is now calling games in Heaven, his iconic "Oh Baby!" is now forever immortalized. RIP Mr. Cole and thank you
Most of the play by play guys today should listen to any game Bob Cole was on to hear how it’s done. It proves one does not need to scream like a child on every goal.
Fair Winds and Following Seas, Bob Cole.
That Domi move on Sway really felt classless. I imagine he watched a lot of his dad playing.
AMAZON Prime? It's bad enough that I lose so many local broadcasts to ESPN, I like NESN for my Bruins.
Voracek, Giroux, Briere, Simmons, Couturier deserved a cup in the 2010s somewhere. It's a lasting shame the Flyers organization couldn't get them there.
If Vlasic played one less game over the last 2 years in the NHL, he’d have been eligible for the Calder this year. He, despite not producing as many points as Faber, was the better defenseman hands down this year. He would’ve had an incredible chance of winning it.
If anyone from San Jose gets fired how’s it not the GM?
So happy to hear that ROOT sports is losing rights to the Kraken. Now I may get to see me local team more than 4 or 5 times a year now. What a genius idea that took someone three seasons to figure out.
The history of the Coyotes should follow them. The major league sports world is weird. The current Winnipeg Jets and the current Cleveland Browns are NOT the same franchises as the old teams that were there.
100% agree. I dont understand this leaving the history behind bs. It doesnt change that the fact that the Cleveland Browns and Arizona Coyotes moved. Its horrible that the Coyotes can end up as a defunct franchise if they get a new arena. A dreadful fate for the orginal Winnipeg Jets and the Coyotes.
Instead of Groundhog day it's groundhog year for Toronto....lol can't get away from 2013 through 2024 out 😂😂
Hellebuyck is going to have to steal one of these away games or Jets are done
Agreed.
RIP Bob Cole. Would love to see a video with your thoughts of current broadcasting teams. I think you might have done something similar. I'm going to lose my shit when Sam Rosen retires.
I think he did one of those last year 😎
So Shannon got Quinn fired?
Pretty much.. that vaunted “he’s the best coach this team could’ve had at the time”… oof.. love ya Shannon 😂
😂
RIP Bob Cole ❤
bob cole was a legend
I find it interesting how no one bats an eye that the current Ottowa Senators don't have the records and history of the old one and yet people will complain on end about the current Jets should have the current history, Utha is a new franchise, all that stuff. I'm sorry but these are Sports Franchises and that means that we don't own the history of the team, the owners do. The only way to change that is for the community to own the team and that will likely never happen.
Ottawa didn't have a team for 60 years and the original Sens moved to St. Louis. That franchise is defunct.
@@TheHockeyGuy I think people are mixing few things in comments. Nobody can take the history of the team or player from the city that they have played. Canucks have honoured Maroons. Senators the old Senators. NHL has approved Wild using retro North Stars stuff and so on.
Franchise history is very different. It would be very weird to say that Neal Broten is the all time leader in points for Minnesota Wild... because that he would be if the history of North Stars belonged to Wild.
Also if Clayton Keller would now stay rest of his career with Utah "NHL team" he will never be in the category of players that played for one franchise. So the difference between Sakic and Keller in their team history would be what...
I find it entertaining Sens fans think the history should carry over as if the Canucks could change their name to Millionaires and suddenly have a Cup in their history. Sakic definitely did only play for one organization. Keller has as well. The management is going WITH the team. It's a relocation, but the NHL had to kiss Meruelo's backside to get the move to happen.
Definitely broadcast memories about Bob Cole...fantastic at his announcing job for years... 💐🏒R.I.P. Bob Cole🏒💐
Bob Cole and Danny Gallivan
last night: 1-2, total: 11-6
tonight: FLA, CAR
If Kuch and Matthews go out in the first round, that has to impact Hart voting
RIP Bob Cole and Al Shaver the voice of the Minnesota North Stars
Prime Video is setting up to be a major sports streaming player in America. I wouldn't be shocked if the Balley stations go to Prime. In America next year, they'll already have NFL, select Kraken and Yankees games and a portion of the NASCAR Cup Series to name a few.
In my long NHL life: Foster Hewett, Bill Hewett, Bob Cole.
Not to mention Danny Gallivan...
There are some good coaches available. Woodcroft for example.
As a Panthers/Blackhawks fan I’m more exited about the Vlasic signing than the first round of playoffs. 😂😂
Doesn't seem fair for the GM to gut the Sharks team over the last few years as part of a rebuild, and then fire the coach for coming in last place.
as someone who relies on "unapproved" streams, this prime deal is a big win for me!
The Vlasic contract seems pretty good. I hope around year 4 of that contract the team is competing for a cup. Maybe even earlier than that.
Excited for Vlasic and the Hawks!
RIP bob cole. As an american i didnt get to hear him enough. Thankfully i have watched a good amount and always enjoyed his call even after he was past his prime.
Rip Bob Cole!
Yeaterday: 1-2
Overall: 10-7
Bolts

It's definitely psychological warfare that Marchand is utilizing on the Leaf players. He easily baits them each time.
Last Night: 1-2
P Overall: 12-5
Picks: TBL, NYI
Picks (7/17)
Yesterday: 0/3
Today: FLA, CAR
The atmosphere at the Delta Center was surprisingly wild last night. I was extremely surprised at how many showed up. Glad to see Utahans coming out and supporting the team
New York might have to pull a trick from the Canucks history to win. :)
The Vlasic singing will look great as of mid next season. Better than our top paid d man at half the cost
Interesting, Shannon your apt observations about Marchand tactics with Bruins vs Leafs.
14:26 I remember this with Bruins in 2019 vs Columbus. Columbus had come off that amazing defeat of Tampa in Round One…Marchand employed all sorts of behavior vs CBJ.. much of it after a whistle..just taking psychic ownership of things..a line in the sand. Columbus played well in that series but ultimately they couldn’t match things and win. Marchand really exposed the complexities of postseason games. Sheldon Keefe riding to the bait. His coaching should be a focal point.
if anything, would have helped Mr Quinn stay coach of San Jose
The Cleveland Browns retained their history when they moved to Baltimore and then the new team got the old history back.
Also, it didn’t happen right away, but the Charlotte Hornets of new have the original Charlotte Hornets history, but they ended up a deal with the New Orleans pelicans to get it back
So will Monday night games no longer be on TV? Or is the Amazon broadcast in addition to the regular TV airing?
Marchant gets a lot of hate, perhaps rightfully so, but a player like that, that's so good at getting into the opposing team's heads, is invaluable.
@TheHockeyGuy if you have cable tv and live in the local market of your team (Toronto) do you still get to watch the leafs play on monday nights without having to buy the amazon prime package??
1-2 yesterday, 11-6 overall. Picks: TBL/ CAR
Utah Greets. That's a good team name.
The Bruins live rent-free in the heads of every Leafs fan, player, and member of team personnel, and it's quite amusing to watch. From my quick-and-dirty look, the Leafs haven't won against the Bruins in the playoffs since 1966-1967, which is the last time the franchise won a Cup.
Its actually Netflix that will get the WWE programming here in Canada!
Last Night: 1-2,
Overall: 8-7 (missed 4/21 picks)
Today: TBL, CAR
RIP, Bob
Coyotes Utah Jerseys are the magic temple underwear.
Let’s go Isles!!
Best Jersey in sports! :)
Hi Shannon !...
Tocchet followed us home from school, papa Jim said we could keep him.
