I love the fact with the new map I can know if a space station will allow me to buy weapons before heading there.
the current starmap also shows what facilities are at a station... you just have to read the description text top right after selecting a station.

its really good the transparency thing, but if you look at the mobiglas in a very bright enviroment, you probably wont be able to see cleraly the words, would be nice to have an automatic transparency, or change ir forever, or let us adjust it
yes, let us adjust the transparency! Like phones with brightness settings
Just like ship HUD (that had the same issue) guess they will add a kind of shadow to it to see it even in very bright environments

Custom Markers will be such a game changer.
I hope we will be able to set a quantum warp point to them. Will be very handy for finding your home base on a planet etc.
You'll have to wait another 8 years for that feature. Can't rush them you know.
Think of their effect on industrial gameplay! I could go out and scout for minerals or wrecks in an exploration ship find and Mark locations of prospective targets and then return later in a mining or salvage ship to harvest what I found earlier. It also could lead to some way of selling those explored POIs to others who are interested.
Custom markers gonna be a life safer. Can't tell ya the number of times I wanted to mark a location of lootable cargo to come back to with a cargo ship to pick them up after doing bounties in my Ares.
there was an "assets" app shown with a house ish icon. I wonder if that means bases or ships or both
Yeah hopefully they will add custom markers for planets or space soon.
PLEASE INCREASE THE OPACITY or just let us adjust it. There is a reason we don't use transparent screens. In bright environments, the Mobiglass is pointlessly unreadable so let us decide how opaque we want it, or just add a few opacity buttons to the corner of the mobiglass. Please please please, holographic displays may be cool, but a normal opaque screen is much better for everyday use

Things 'vanishing' from view is one of the biggest issues with the current starmap.
are you blind? this ui design have lots of accessibility issues even some of evo players stops to play because of headache. thank you for what? writing names white on a white planet surface to make poi invisible? adding transparent background so players have to search some darker areas to use mobiglass? adding 3d multilayer dropshadow effect to under everything so everyone can experience astigmatism? after all that years and with all that feedbacks, knowledge they can't even identify what is a player's needs from a ui. just ignore the all issues and keep thanks no matter what and live happily in your own illusion.

Same! I chatted with him at a bar citizen in Seattle a couple years ago, and I just didn’t have a lot of good things to say about the UI. So Zane, if you see this, great job on the new UI! Looks amazing!

On ships with 3d radars like the gladius, you could zoom out their radar and get the starmap there. It was neat being able to set routes via the ship's systems instead of the mobiglass. Will the new starmap also be applied to ship radar systems?
Also, would love to finally see some upgrades for 2d radars like on the Cutlass. That and functionality for cartography rooms like in the Carrack

I think the 2d radars depends on the MDF building blocks reworks that we saw on old ISC .
Looks really nice, guys! Please give us the option to toggle off the weird blurry-text effect however. That really looks bad to my eyes. Also, while not stated explicitly in this video, can we now set a custom marker on our ship or say a nice minable rock we detected, then have a route take us back there from the other side of Stanton? If that works, you guys should really call attention to it since it would be a remarkable enhancement to current gameplay! Being able to share custom markers with party would be another amazing thing (if possible).

The "weird blurry-text effect" isn't an effect, but an artifact of TAA, this can basically only be "fixed" (the artifact reduced) when stuff like DLSS/FSR/XeSS etc. get added (which I think may be getting added in 3.23?)
Blurry text is a bug. It's rather server dependent right now. If the servers happy it clears up.

@Ethirical pass, im no coder or network specialist. But I'm telling you, when the servers nice and quiet, the text is quite clear and precise. Once it starts having issues, everything get blurry. You tell me lol, I'm only commenting on my hands on experience.
A button on the mobiglass to open the ship's garage door will help a lot!
You can bind hailing the spacestation already. I bound it to F3 since it is not used anyways.
I think he means to open for e.g. the Cargobay of your Ship when you're in a Vehicle so you don't have to get out, open the Bay, get in your Vehicle and drive in the Bay.
@@Smap_SC Think he is talking about how we don't have "Car Keys" and "Remote Start" Things we can do IRL with our phones now on some vehicles.

This opens the cargo bay ... but also every other door of the ship. But you're right. A dedicated button for that would be nice.
And if someone at CIG reads this: please make folding wings separate from the landing gear aswell. Especially the arrow needs it desperately.
@@Smap_SC No you're still missing the point. He's talking about being able to open your cargo doors from outside of your ship. When he said vehicle, he meant ground vehicle. For example:
I'm in my mining vehicle, and I wanna drive into my spirit. I press a button on my mobi from the driver seat of my car, the cargo door on the spirit opens, and I can drive in, without leaving the driver seat.
Add transparency slider and you got it. Great work on the update as of now though!

@@tynrova9639Master modes is still not in the evo builds, and that itself is a monumental feature that will need lots of polishing. Expect Spectrum to be a cesspool of toxicity when 3.23 goes to Wave 1
@@tynrova9639 early May is more likely. April already, they still didn't finish to add features in evo builds (cargo refactor for the next one), and it has to go through all the regular PTU then

Bright white text for microtech markers?
what? better yellow text? you want yellow on your white snow ? :))
You forgot its also somewhat transparent at at print size 8, for even better readability.
any color could be ok, if there's a black outline on the text. it's an easy solution for bright areas. black thin outline.
It's actually a very light blue, which is just as unreadable. It's one of the evocati main complaints... why the light blue txt everywhere, you can't see it!!! But yeah, work in progress, maybe it'll change.
Can't wait to try the new features out. I really hope that:
1. We can set WP to custom markers
2. Manually or auto-adjust the opacity of the MobiGlass for better readability

The new map system is one of the main reasons I'll be jumping back into SC this year. Great work.
As someone who has eye ghosting on it's own and chronic migraines I really hope that ghosting effect can be toggled off on the new UI and mobi changes

It is such a terrible design decision from a UI team. It servers no purpose. It actually makes me nauseous looking at it since it also moves around

REQUEST: When you rework the VMA card, please 🙏 allow us to view all of our ships again, even if a ship's load out is locked. It's so difficult to shop for upgrades, or even see what we need to grind for without a way to view all of our ships in one place.
Be cool if the VMA also showed us where the ship is, versus having to use Niknax or an ASOP 😉

Today we held a 9 year org anniversary event. After over an hour and a half of setup, we were ready to start. 30k.
But amazingly, 30k crash recovery remembered everything and we could pull our ships instantly on the new server, with every item still where they were hand placed on our ships
Within 15 minutes, we were back in deep space with 3 Carracks in position, ready to start the fight. It was cool!

1:32 mh, i'd vote to rename "Hunger" to "Nutrition" to align with "Hydration" and make 0-100% more intuitive. "100% Hunger" doesn't sound like you're stuffed =D

This is one of the biggest QoL additions I've been waiting for. It's weird how excited one can be for a robust map system, but hey ho, here we are. The next big one I can't wait for is the updated EVA system.
Great job to all the team at CIG. You've stuck it out for all these years, and the fruits of your labour are juicy and sweet.
The entirely new Mobi is so smooth. I love it. Cant wait to be flying with the boys in my Arrastra, going mining in the depths of space, refining our own ores, and selling them at massive cities
It would be super cool to have certain suits that could auto-administer certain things based on your condition. Eg. a military suit that will auto-dose on stims or heals when the user takes damage. Maybe have it as a suit addon.

@@notoriouspc Yeah, it could be. There would have to be some limit to it. Eg. you would have to preload healing cannisters into the suit, and there would be a limit to how many you could do.
It just seems to me from a lore standpoint that if the suit can monitor your vitals, someone absolutely would design a stim delivery system based on vitals notifications.
Contract manager needs way more filtering using distance and rep implications, as well as custom white or blacklist, min/max payout.

The old map cannot bear your route, but it can carry you to your destination.
This new star map tech is AMAZING! Now we can really go explore all of those corners of the universe that we couldn't reach before. The exploration gameplay just blew up!!
Huh? You could always explore Stanton. There's zero "exploration gameplay," as none of the features or content are in still. Just boring empty planets.

So great to get this in the game :) Is there a plan to get the planetary surface into the map as well? So that you can place a custom marker to your favorite lake for example? (a spherical grid might even be enough, and it would also help with the transition from outpost interior map to orbital map)
I hope you guys are seeing those icon reflections that make the UI very hard to read and thinking "huh, we should reduce that" please, let that be the case...
very hard to read is a stretch, i did not even see them until i saw this comment. maybe if you had some eyesight problems it could be worse but they ain't making a game for blind people. That said, accessability options are always a win imo so maybe they could give you blindos a slider to stop the vocal minority from moaning on about it all the time.

Please also add a slider for background transparency of the mobiglass, at 10:54 it's already a bit hard to read the menu on the left because of the bright background light, I can imagine it would be even worse in a very sunny snow planet.

It's really cool that in a game set in the year 2950, played in the year 2024, we can finally have a map system from 2004.
The polish here is refreshing. This ui team is on fire! I’ll just have to continue to make sure I’m not staring into the sun when I pull up the mobi 😅

The Star Map is the reason I couldn't handle Star Citizen anymore and stopped playing 3 years ago because honestly it was just too broken to functionally travel in the verse. I'm glad the new Star Map is finally coming and it looks like I'm returning to the game.
this is the exact reason i quit all time, play for a bit untill the star map finally frys my head then quit lol
I am a daily player and there are definitely a few quirks about the map but once you fled long enough and figured out when and when you cannot set routes and started to memorize the orbital markers that are available to you, then the storm map was actually not a problem at all. You were just a very confused by setting routes, how do you have just started manually jumping you would be fine

RE Maps: It would be awesome if the map isn't omniscient ie. going to ruin station or similar location that has undergone alterations, we should initially only have the 'legal/plublished or last known' map data and need to purchase or earn a local knowledge update.

More of a mission feature team and narrative team question. They’ve just taken the available information for the mission and displayed it in a different way with some clearer distinctions between types.

You should always be allowed to set a route! If there is an issue on the way, the system should tell you what to do to solve it instead of blocking the option to begin with...

The work on the new mobiglass and map is awesome. If there's one thing that still feels like it could use improvement it's the animation when opening the mobiglass. Obviously not an issue that impacts the game in any tangible way, but as it is now it looks too stiff and robotic from a 3rd person perspective. Feel like it could be more fluid and rather than the character just looking straight ahead where the mobiglass will appear, maybe have them look down at their wrist when they trigger it so it looks a bit more natural.
At about 9:00 "Root your way through the verse", to us Australians that means something very different and fun sounding..

Until i know better, the map app is my favorite. I needed interior maps for ships ever since the Starfarer became flyable ,love it. But most fascinating is that marker databank. looking forward to using my own navpoints
I already know this will help new players because I remember when I started for the first time, I literally had to use a tutorial to find the spaceport, and same thing when I first went to other major cities
I love how I'm less than 60s out goes from we had to convert all the apps before we could release it. To we will be releasing it with some apps not converted
all apps were converted, most were additionally redone
I love the UI designs for everything we've seen, like the looting screen but I absolutely need the ability to turn off the tilt towards your mouse. It's definitely distracting. Wouldn't mind being able to recolor the holographics too
and remove the shadow, and change the transparency.

The devs in CIG doesn't get enough credit. This stuff is so freaking amazing. You guys are pushing and setting new boundaries every week it feels like.

@@Crook_Croberts agreed, acting like they've reinvented the wheel for doing mudane tasks which any other software house manages on day one, the amount of simping for CIG is on another level
There should be an "Auto Walk There" function: Set the route → Press button → Character just auto-walks there. At walk speed. It'd be better than seeing everyone just rushing around everywhere. IF you're indeed in a rush, you can always manually run there.
You could make it a unique functionnality of industrial armor, that would be logic ! If you're moving boxes all day, having an exoskeleton move your armored legs is quite mandatory. It also stays in the design of the dynamic visor and "Specialise quipments bring special functionality"

It's because they have zero project management and high turnover. No one knows wtf is going on at CIG anymore. The fact that they're talking about their PRE-ALPHA project feeling dated and 'needing an update' is a literal joke. This thing is such a mess.
@@jasonfrost5025they are polishing SQ42. So this stuff they're working on isn't just PreAlpha... Sure, star citizen technically is, but SQ42 is moving closer to release. It just so happens SC reuses the same applications

At 10:05 in the search results - looks fantastic but if we could also get a sort toggle between distance and alphabetical (current) that would be a great improvement and easy to implement.

I'm really looking forward to the new star map. Could you perhaps add the option to create your own (personalised) beacons? This could offer the possibility for even more extensive missions.

UX/UI improvements always welcome, and this looks good. Pathing/routing features are most exciting to me. 1 step closer to me and my NPC crew running around environments, with the NPCs running command driven tasks independent of the player (you go buy food, you go buy ship parts, you go to med bay, meet at the pub when finished). Also, I want auto-run to destination. Let me click the destination and my character just auto runs to that spot.

This will be a huge help for sure to be able to quickly find where you want to go and what you need, it will make the game much more accessible, especially when more and more star systems get added
It looks much more convenient than it was before. The most important thing for me is the ability to create navigation points (or preferably a group of points) on the surface of the planet for rallies, navigating to the ship, or escaping from prison. Secondly, it's working with light; I'm almost certain you're working with it, for example, shading in bright lighting inside the ship or on the surface of the planet, as shown in your video at 10:30, or conversely, becoming visible in darkness, like night vision. 😊

Map tech is next level, not new, but all together it is rather special and advanced for sure!
After 10 years waiting for the game I have learned to navigate mzself and run to the places I need to blindfolded, but I get it, this is needed change for new players. Starmap was super needed.

THE SEARCH IS GONNA BE LEGENDARY. I 100% believe that with a game like this all information should be in game and not on a third party site(even though sites have been so useful).
You still got a lot of work to do on the Star Map:
1. Planet markers (names of locations) are extremely difficult to read, especially on brighter planets (perhaps make sure the text isn't obscured by the planets, as well as dome drop shadow / opaqueness changes)
2. Sometimes the Star Map renders outside the bounds of the mobiglass
3. Markers can cause graphical anomalies when map zoomed in and they're outside of the viewable area.
Some of the issues thus far.
I love how in the recent ISC's there has been pyro gameplay teasers but it's not obvious, it's only for those who keep an eye out for the pyro gameplay
Everything looks so awesome. We just need a date for the patch!
