WeeWoo lights control idea.
Prospector and Mole engage mining mode with M keybind.
Vulture and Reclaimer engage salvage mode with M keybind.
Cutlass Blue & Red, Pisces Rescue and Ursa Medivac special mode is WeeWoo lights. WeeWoo lights should be engaged with M keybind.
Without knowing the specifics of the dev side, this seems like a great idea. Compared to the ideas i had, your's seems way more effective :) I would without knowing the difficulty or dev time, like to see a physicalized light controller in the cockpit. Similair to modern trucks with dash mounted light controllers. Really just want to see each type of light on any vehicle be controlled seperately from eachother.
@@RyoninShonin
Well I dont see how it would cause problems on the dev side.
Its basicly just binding a specific item to a keybind. They could make it a mode. "Emergency mode". Engaging it turns on the weewoo lights, pressing middle mouse while it is active turns on a siren.
This is a great idea - i was thinking more along the line of an "Alt+L" situation to keep the lights keys consistent.
I funking hate weewoo lights
WHEN will the CARGO DOORS of the CARRACK finally be able to OPEN!!!??????????
True actually….
Right after we get carrack modules, drones, engineering, NPC crew, ai blades, and functioning repair and fabrication room. Oh and the astro bay lol…
You just know the person who write this is a space dad.
In about 5 years I guess...
Especially after the next patch requires moving boxes in and out of that area.
I wish they never mentioned work on the gold standard of the 600i years ago.
Between 600i rework and 'look we are working on Apollo', I will never trust cig for ships again.
same especially since it would be the perfect 4.0 ship I feel like
@@sernolstic4981 The perfect 4.0 ship is the Liberator.
There is no other answer.
the 600i was a winner in last years ship showdown because we all where expecting the rework. At least, thats why i bought one
@@spider0804 Gotta agree here. A ton of vehicles literally cannot make the jumps between Pyro's planets/moons, and the Liberator would have been the perfect vehicle to sell as a fleet carrier for light fighters.
those models on Jared's desk look amazing. props to whoever painted them
that vulture looks so goooooood
@@UltraProchyikkk I don't like models and even I want that bad boy in my room
"Why do you favour new over the backlog?"
"We left it too long."
Pretty much yeah. But there is also the fact that they were overly optimistic and massively overpromised in the early years of development. A lot of the ships still in the backlog have some really ambitious gameplay ideas that realistically could have never been put into the game in a reasonable timeframe. From what I get from this, the ship teams would love to work on the backlog, but they constantly have to wait on the gameplay teams before they can actually get started. And the gameplay teams are slow because they keep running into technical issues translating all of those ambitious ideas into actual working gameplay, and also because they have to work on SQ42 at the same time.
Jared: Death of a Spaceman is still a thing
Nursa trailer: I've done this a thousand times.
End of the trailer should have showed him all deformed after the degradation effects take place.
@@Billy-bc8pk Yes that's what I was waiting for!
If you promise everything to everyone, you have a much wider prospective customer base. But then you eventually have to disappoint someone (or maybe everyone, a bit).
my poor gladiator will sit alone and forgotten until the end of time
I dont like the gladiator (just personal taste) but its so sad seeing how more and more ships come with newer desings or reworks while gladiator remains forgotten to CIG
Cig: the what now ?
I'm with you. Still fly it around sometimes just dreaming of what she should be. Now I'm worried we'll see a Gladiator MkII show up before they touch the old one.
Along with the Connies ... Seems like a mothball fleet
@@jedi_drifter2988 I am 100% sure the Connie's will get a nice rework. I am guessing those have not been done because they are waiting to perfect everything. That is Chris Robert's favorite ship so you know they will be done well. The interesting thing will be to see how big the Zeus is compared to it and whether or not they do a complete rework and actually make the Connie a little bit bigger to fit more in between the Zeus and the Galaxy.
Jared is such a champ, man. I know he's not alone in the whole dev team, but I personally feel he always speaks for me, especially on ship matters, modularity, etc. I know his role is to bring those player issues up so the experts can shed some light on the situation and educate us on this massive process, which I appreciate greatly.

Redoing every ship for the resource network will mean one thing to me.
CIG will have to acknowledge that the Gladiator exists and actually modify it in a meaningful way.
Thought so with reclaimer when salvage came out, and yet still no docking ports and no landing on stations
I’m so looking forward to that ship becoming useful. Just need to get myself a little gunner and escort. Then I’m ready!
Like they did with refuelling right...
Nah. Freelancer has had its components added in 3.23. But no other much needed update. I suspect CIG is hoping older backers get sick of it not working and spend dollars to upgrade to a newer shinier ship

One thing that hasn't been touched on in a long time is reasons to use ground vehicles. Things like roads from spaceport to shopping centers at A18. Distro centers are a start.
Ships will soonTM become really unreliable in-atmosphere so ground vehicles will be a more desired means of transport on certain planets
@@sytun3375 I assume having a ship with a real aerodynamic profile is gonna matter in atmo a lot more?
There are already bunkers that shoot at your ship, when you use a ground vehicle the turrets dont shoot at you anymore.
im still waiting for them to five us a reason to use all theses hover bikes they so rapidly put out. i want to love them but they have no gameplay or usefulness
@@MagTac1434this is their best use currently, very effective for easier bunker runs
When the real Q&A starts exactly? 🤔
For real. There were like two questions from backers that whole time!
@@T51B1sometimes Jared has much better questions than the backers. I'd rather know how the sausage is made then a backer asking about their ship or some bug for the 100th time.
@@onogrindsbrah Isn't that the point of a ship Q&A to ask about ships?
Tonight on a very special Star citizen Live: Space Dad sits down with the backers for an emotional heart-to-heart.
Except he lied... he either didn't really speak to the team, or they have been changing their minds...or he just fabricated it. One of the people in the room, John Crewe, would have known a lot more than Jared about medical gameplay. They've officially stated the opposite of what he claimed on previous videos. Notably, when they decided to take away the Cutlass Red's T3 bed spawning. IDC about DoaS really. I'm just upset with the gaslighting from Jared. His language here was unacceptable, and the "Space Dad" attempt didn't make it any better. Jared needs some counseling and training, maybe a few ethics in journalism subjects. Devs keep doing whatever is needed for the health of the overall game. Marketing / Community Management is in trouble, however.
I just love how it's not scripted, everything just happening in the background, especially during the end 😂
Don't see how people are disappointed, they literally told us everything they're working on. They can only do so much at once, I'm sure the polaris is taking up lots of resources.
I’d just like to see them staff up to crank out “three capitals a year” in addition to their current output. It’s scary to realize that it’ll take 5 years to finish the backlog if they work on nothing else. That’s just a pipeline bandwidth problem…
My only problem with that is they committed to attacking the backlog of large ships....if each large ship sucks up most of the bandwidth and they announce 1 or 2 new large ships every year....
Exactly. People dont realize how absolutely *massive* the Polaris is, and how its also essentially laying the foundation for all future RSI subcap ships. The architecture and rooms and such will be copied (maybe with slight remodeling) for the Galaxy and Perseus which will massively speed up each of those ship's development times. People are just mad because *their" favorite ships aren't being worked on instead.
@@SilencedHaloTBH, I dont see a reason for CIG to add another big ship as a concept when they can barely make resources available for the backlog. I literally dont understand why they made the Galaxy & the Arrastra, or even the Odyssey.
@@trinityx3o522gameplay that is already available, with the Zeus es coming this year that could even mean a tier zero explorer mechanic.
I like that Jared brings up marketing, since that is something you hear a lot (and many decisions do often feel like they have been marketing-driven). And it is good that the developers are open about the influence marketing has too. For all of the things you can criticize CIG for, they are at least a lot more open than most other game development studios.
@47:00 I was wondering about the retaliator bomber module. Does that fix include the in game purchased Retaliator? I bought one in game and it only has the Unladen module. One of my Orgmates has a purchased Retaliator/ Bomber and an in game purchased one and both are the same, no torpedo bay.

This had so many cool insights into their development process! It was neat learning about how they schedule what updates or vehicles they decide to tackle given their time and resources
Great walk through, thank you guys! Onya Jared!
I suppose at this point we are just going to pretend that we ever mentioned that the MSR was supposed to have data running and now it's not even mentioned or planned for anymore. Cool stuff. But yay, more variants and ground vehicles we don't need.
Thank you CIG for the information. I can honestly say, that's what I wanted :D.
Anyone know where Jared got that Vulture model sitting on his desk?
Been looking for a decent sized Connie too.
I hope they get time for the 600i rework as the ship is pretty popular, and the concepts looked great
Thanks for the answers!
As an owner of a Perseus it does actually help to just hear it's not being worked on. Id prefer timelines but barring that just acknowledging what's actively being worked on is a start
The Polaris is laying the framework the Perseus will be developed from. Should also mean once the Polaris is out, the Perseus will go even faster.
@@bdubyah89 Pretty much this...having half the UK art team working on the Polaris will pretty much ensure the RSI design language for larger ships is pretty much done...I would expect the Galaxy, Perseus and Apollo to come pretty quickly...Firm possibility that Montreal will move onto the Apollo after the Zeus is done.
@@bdubyah89 for sure I am hopeful for maybe next fall not this year obviously. I am a little concerned they said the galaxy first since it seems pretty complex. And I couldnt help but notice they said they were doing "All the large and capital RSI ships" then changing brands and didnt list the orion which means its probably really really far off
I wish you guys sat at he cool table, I like that format for ship talk videos
Day one of asking ... Can we PRETTY PLEASE stop HOVERBIKES from EXPLODING and remove so many rocks from planets. Thank you
It'd be super cool to some day see rough estimates of how many hours the ship teams put into each ship total. There's more than one way to interpret that, but any moderately accurate and consistent estimates would be very enlightening.
Say an average small ship is 1200 hours, but more like 1500 if it does something new, a medium ship is 5000 hours, a large ship or small capital is 20,000 hours, etc. Likely there would be obvious increases in efficiency over the years and the workflow has evolved.
I like this idea. It would make flying the ship a little more interesting too. Especially when giving your friends the first tour... "Did you know this ship took 10 people 24,000 hours to complete?"
Thanks for being so candid about the technical limitations and challenges you guys are facing in development.
If nothing else... PLEASE update the carrack and add an elevator that comes outside the ship, the one at the rear of the ship is perfect to punch a hole, even if if has to relocate a turret somewhere... it would be worth it! having to lower the ramp on such a large ship is crazy at this point... I guess if the galaxy comes out before that happens, it won't matter... but still, the carrack deserves it!
Edit: Forgot to mention that galaxy was after the Polaris in the video, at least that's the last that was said.
Amazing thank you all
I am totally happy just beeing able to fly ships as first implementation. Any ship can shooot somethign or deliver a package and so on.

Great show guys - great job with the games 💖
I'm so happy that I wasn't the only one that assume the firebird was crusader from the color scheme alone. I actually thought it was the mercury when the camera was first panning over the wing.
I can’t help myself from falling in love with this game and it’s possibilities. Appreciate the honesty. o7
Very good show 🎉thanks
Thank you jared!!
I just want the Perseus & Merchantman done and then i'm happy, all my ships will be flyable. 2026 🤞
Hey, the merchantman might be a ways off but the timeline for the Perseus (riding the momentum of all the asset development done for the Polaris) is promising! I'd estimate that arriving somewhere around the middle or end of 2025, as I BELIEVE the Polaris workgroup will be splitting to work on the Galaxy and Perseus simultaneously. They're unlikely to drop both at once, so I'd expect one to arrive at the next Invictus or the following quarterly patch and the other to arrive at the following IAE or the subsequent EOY patch. With the Perseus being slightly smaller, extremely overdue compared to the Galaxy, more "on brand" for Invictus, and "just" a gunboat instead of a modular do-it-all, I'd say it has a good chance of being the earlier of the two.
@@The_Noblest_Roman yeah i agree perseus will be ready next year. but not the banu
Can we please get a speed limiter for ground vehicles? We have it for ships and when on foot but for some reason, ground vehicles must always lurch forward at max acceleration with every press of W. Would be great to dial it right down for manoeuvring up ramps or set it to a mid speed when moving over rough ground to avoid being yeeted by every rock you encounter.
Can't you do this using the mousewheel? Like with ships?
@porecemusnox8805 No. At least not to my knowledge. Which is why it is odd and so needed - you can use the mouse wheel for walking and ships, but not ground vehicles.
CIG Office Memo: Beards must be worn at all times.
Thx Guys 💪🏻😎👍🏻
Just want to know who thought that the ION can be played in its current state.
So when will work start on the liberator? We need more carrier ships especially with Pyro so close
I could be wrong; but, it sounds like Pyro is going to have more refueling stations than was originally planned, making it less of an absolute requirement to have a carrier or tanker in order to play.
Personally, the Liberator is one of the big ships I'm most looking forward to. It's a big ship with a small crew requirement.
Jared and devs honestly and self awareness is a so funny and heartening! It really makes the game come alive, i cant imagine how brutally toxic the community would be with like overwatch levels of communication
Squadron 42 ANOTHER LOVE STORY
so caterpillar module and carrack module that can be dropped off and act alone (on the carrack atleast) is being worked on soon it seems
why is their a tractor beam ARGO MPUV when the others are modular ? which is even stated in the brochure and store page for the cargo and personnel variants? little confusing.
Even the sales page for the new variant says that the modularity will still be coming. It's just been delayed (as they also said in this video). They added it in as a separate variant now, so that we can still play with that functionality until the modularity arrives.
@@randlebrowne2048 ah ok

@@randlebrowne2048 prolly was lowflying and clipped a rock on daymar ;)
Can the argo tractor fit in the idris argo bay?
From the sales page, it looks like the eventual intent of all the MPUV variants is to make them fully interchangeable through modularity (which they are still working on to fully implement for it). Those tractor beams don't actually seem to extend the length or height of the ship; so, it looks like it should still fit.
The Retaliator does not make sense as a dedicated Cargo Hauler, with that Cargo Module. But perhaps as a Fleet Supply vessel, it would make some sense.
Some people use a military Hummer for groceries shopping. Doesn't need to make sense. :)
@@kenzoryba1017 I think that the problem is more that, even with the cargo modules, the Retaliator still has a pretty small cargo capacity for a ship of it's size (the bays are pretty narrow).
Taking out ships and stealing the cargo is pointless? A freight module does not mean that you have to trade with it :P
I thought it was cool from a lore perspective. Old bombers making their way into civilian service and a host of more civilian-oriented modules created for that need (like cargo). A medical bay would be neat - kind of like a cheaper Apollo. You've got two module bays, maybe a higher tier bed than a C8R would have (Tier 2 maybe), and then medical supplies in the other bay. Bounty hunting/prisoner transport modules sound pretty awesome, too. I can see transferring prisoners from one location to another in one of these with an escort of fighters.
When are those ship models going on sale would buy like 8 of them as I have 8 ships

Why Zeus ES before CL if we don't have exploration yet?
It probably requires less work to release.
Well there was a bit of information near the end......
but where's my spaceship?
A lot of people bought the 600i because of the rework pending.. but for the MedIcal bed being added…. Just stick a Nursa in the hold and you have a ghetto rework in your 600i. I’m not going to lie.. I want the 600i rework too.. but the changes lately have softened the blow of not having it.
Without reading the comments - Although this explains the delays in gold standards+ I'm guessing it will once again go over too many heads.
We need med beds to be resource dependent, so if you dont have your med vehicle stocked with medical items you can't respawn.

also regarding the Nursa.... I think it should be changed to be known officially as the N-Ursa
Its unfortunate but oh well looks like I have to wait for next year to know about Kraken update :D
I for one think it would be worth it to scrap several of the old ship designs in favor of a new version since it's easier to build new vs retrofitting old ships with the latest features. Or come out with a kind of mkII version of the older ships. It'd be much more productive and efficient and the new versions would look better and provide a refresh of classic content.
alright, whose making those ships props???

What about the Constellations ?????????????????????????????????????????????????

huge fan of the Ursa red/medivac, but it has a major flaw... Simply put, remove the side door, and put a medical cabinet in that space with accessible group storage. Thats all it needs (IMO) to really stand out as a great little med based vehicle... until the spartan red comes out anyway.
Galaxy would be a great addition to expand multicrew and compete with the carrack. But yeah I guess we needed 3 Sabre raven variants that’s cool
I'm waiting for the Galaxy, too... However, as they've said before, the work on the Polaris will be directly relevant to the other RSI ships, including the Galaxy.
@@PaulMEdwardsplus the Galaxy is up next after the Polaris.
Dude, the galaxy is up next after the Polaris. we've only been waiting since IAE 2022. People have been waiting far long for other ships.

They aren't going to modify the current models in the PU; since, they have completely different models in SQ42 (which they will update the PU ones to upon SQ42's release).
Where is 600i rework?
Medical bed respawn is the best feature for the game. Gameplay is now more dynamic, fulfilling and makes players play more often
There is so much more to do with the ships, getting them to Gold Standard is no joke. If we are truthfully: We already have enough ships. It´s only the cherry on the cake if we get our dream pledged ship (the current one ;-) ).
