      I agree. I have been to California myself several times. Absolutely gorgeous! I remember taking a walk along the beach of Santa Barbara. Amazing.

    Interesting how seamlessly both pilots conversed between each other in English then German and back again in English....hardly pausing at all.

      Oh i know. I'm British but spend a lot of time touring in Europe and have friends in Germany. It just fascinated me how quickly they could switch.

      It is interesting...I was born in Germany but have been in the States for over 50 years, however, if any of my relatives call me (even in the middle of the night) I switch over to English without any thoughts even though I have nobody here to speak German with. I guess you never forget.

    I love how most airlines have a sterile cockpit below 10000ft. Yet these guys are at 1000ft and talking about the weather, all while perfectly flying the plane, love it

      MCHFacts There's 19 year old F/O's about they've had all the same training and have to be very competent. It's just they don't have as much experience.

    It was nice to hear their views on southern California. I'd be happy to trade California for a visit to Germany one day. Nothing wrong with CA, 'cause I've been there many times and really enjoyed it. I want to see Europe (in particular, Germany) one day. There are absolutely beautiful mountains and stunning scenery over there.

    Amazing how long the pilot flies for himself. In all the other videos you see Autopilot is engaged right after takeoff.

      Yer you tend to fly a bit longer when you are dousing you're last flight on an airplane as the captain was on this plane the fun part of hand flying is after takeoff until the gear and flaps are retracted because it changes the configuration of the airplane and you have to respond to that by increasing speed bot When that's done and it just becomes a task of following the magenta line then the autopilot is you're best body because it does the job weary well :-)

    I have it on DVD it's simply awesome. When I saw the take off from LAX and the Captain said "Why isn't he taking off? He's cleared for take off a while" (Sounds cooler in German) I was just laughing my ass of 😂

    Awesome Clip! But there's a little error in the subtitle at 6:43. The ATC announcement is "maintain one-three-thousand". The subtitle shows only 1'300 ft an not 13'000 :-).

    I have a dream to be a pilot in life. I want to fly aircraft like B747, A380 and B777. Mostly I watch videos of this captain Norbert wölfle ,another videos they fly from Frankfurt to Los angeles. Lufthansa pilots are great and I love to watch them.

      Yep it was bakc in 2010. The Aircraft was stored in 2012 :/ But therefore teh Lufthansa received the new 747-8i :)

    Question: just exactly what is that small 'flap' located between the main flaps and what does it do? From watching these video's, it appears to just flap in the breeze.

      David Barnett It’s the inboard aileron ; if you get a clear view of the whole wing , you’ll see that it moves in sync with the main aileron further out , although the inboard moves through a greater arc . On newer Boeing models , it moves out and down slightly with the initial flap deployment, becoming a “flaperon “ .

    If they ever close LAX, it will become EX-LAX...and that is rather fitting for such a disgusting shithole like LA. It's such a beautiful state, but it's too bad that politicians have destroyed it. We finally had to move out of state. However, I will always enjoy flying over it and enjoying the breath-taking scenery. Thanks for a great video!

    Pilots really have their hands full and must know lots of things. I would not want that job.
    I have been on a plane a few times but I hated flying and haven't been on one since before 9/11 and never will.

      I love flying we do in Australia only way out of here is by plane long 13 hours flights you just get used to it, I fly to new York all most every year via Dubai two thirteen hour flights never tire of it, after watching these videos I find myself doing check lists when taking off and landing. The A380 is better than the 747 except I found the landing softer in the 747.

      He takes his hands off the throttles at "SQ" (verbally I heard "Go") so that must be a German variant of the callout for V1.
