IMO, they laughed for a different reason - they reminded the control of their current altitude, but were given VERY small increase approval + the controller also made a correction.
They were, I suppose, very close to their max weights, very warm and humid weather - not the best condition to expect high climb rate for any plane, not just A340-300/

The journey lasts 16 hours and 20 minutes and crosses 10 time zones, four pilots are on board, as well as 15 cabin crew, who serve 1,100 hot drinks, 2,000 cold drinks and 1,036 meals to passengers.

When I was an active pilot I remember the operating manuals stating what was required to commit to memory. Yes, there's a lot ! You must have discipline to be successful in the event of an emergency. Panic and loss of awareness has caused many accidents. Safe travels and fair winds 👍🇺🇸

Don't worry about it. It is very safe. You will have intial nervous ness. But once you do it. You will feel as winner. Have some objective about in your work and for that reason fly. You will feel proud of yourself and you will love it.

I'm in my 50's and still pilots always blow my mind. I've always had respect for what, and how they do this. For them it's just another day at the office. I say they are brave individuals.

Taking off is like Focus required of a quarterback throwing the perfect pass. After the ball is on the way the receiver becomes the landing. Working in perfect harmony to complete the play.

Depending on the time , nearby Hongchio domestic/intern has a lot of traffic and that is why there are many climb restrictions however does not seem speed restrictions. Flying often from Shenzhen to DLC means many ground delays in Shenzhen and after many trips best way to get to HK from DLC is daily nonstop Air China(low loads) as avoids SHA airspace and flies direct and over Taiwan east of Fuzhou and no restrictions. All other flights via Ningbo/SHA Qingdao/Rizhao/Yantai have delays.
