Something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. I knew this was a bad financial idea. And I'm glad Marty was honest about it. I still like the series. Quick flips are fun to watch, new cars for the viewers to see so we don't get bored. Keep em coming.
Oh well, They’ll make plenty off this video which means more money for more projects 😊
Because i like to restore old cars when i have time, i know a lot of flippers, they have good connections in the car world and are a good group to get buddy buddy with when you need parts. Here's the rub. The most successful flippers... don't take risks. Yup. All those channels on YT, where they talk about "taking risks and flipping wonders" that's horsebutt. One of the guys i know in france lives well off his work and looks like a wrench monkey on weekdays but a noble on weekends. He has never sold a single "special" car in his life. Every time i've visited his shop, he has the most boring and most common cars you see. It's all about the volume, not the "value".
If it was your own car to keep, it was a great financial idea.
Bloody great tax write off though! 4K in expenses
@@klord-is9ft ....hehehehehe...just another 200k to go...what's there not to like?
9:24 Benny removing the bumper cover NEVER gets old! 😂😂
Ultimate callback for the OG fans haha
classic Benny. fkn luv it mate
Definitely a classic lol
I always love when he did this. Great to see Benny back too
Do you realize how many we've been watching these guys? It's amazing. It was the first channel I ever subscribed to, when subscribing to channels wasn't even a thing lmao! I think I sub'd when they had uploaded only 5 or 6 videos! :O
The honesty behind, "doesn't include labor" is so real. I appreciate that! You see on so many car shows where they restore a car and be like, "it was 15k to fix all this with paint, etc, etc.. and then they don't say they had four mechanics on it for two weeks each!
Hang painter's tarps (thin mil plastic sheets) from the ceiling around the car. Tape the plastic to a small fan on the floor pointing in on one side and one pointing out on the other. Now you've got a paint booth. $15-20 each for the fan, $5 for the amount of tape you'll use, and $30 for plastic.
add some residential furnace filters on the intake and exhaust side and it'll keep the dust down as well, cardboard shrouds work a treat!
THIS! Making a diy paint booth is super cheap and easy! no need for fancy shit! unless you are painting a whole luxury car for a customer, you only need tape, plastics, a fan and filter.. about 50$ everything!
@@phiillzzz807 Or get one of those party tents if you're going to be doing it more often.
@@heygek2769 Been there! You can use those cheap marquee shelters to do your painting on the driveway.
Still the best car channel on CZcams all these years later. No bs, great production, great music & still keeping the content fresh
Some BS...
what I like aboutthem is that they are genuine down to earth people.
nah, they definitely aren't the best. Good, but not the best.
Whole show is BS
You mean the best 4x4 off road channel on youtube!!!
Now a 5 min bathroom break turned into a 30 min bathroom break
Forreal! I thought it was gonna be in and out😅
lol I felt that
Truer words have never been spoken
Yep
Yep stomach feeling crook all of a sudden, need a 26 minute bathroom break 😂
Honestly boys. This is the kind of content I'm here for. No matter how much profit or cost there is. It's just absolutely epic to see something that's relatively clapped like that go into the shop a little leaky. Transform and come out. In a condition, with a few mods, and much cleaner in a way that absolutely suits a daily for car people like us. That transformation I think is what brings this community together. Whether us our car, someone else's car,a car on TV even. It's very motivating to go out and work on my own car even.
Seeing Benny walk by and grab the bumper is like seeing an old family friend. Warms my heart.
Love these "small" projects. Doing stuff like this is also a perfect way for young people getting their first own car. Get a cheapish one and spend a weekend with your mate and/or parents and replace, repair or upgrade. It's a great learning and bonding experience.
100% great way to learn, and not that spendy if you space it out over some time.
Just the fact you're saving it from the crusher and giving it some love and making it look nice... big win. Well done!
This has to be by FAR the longest Ive kept up with any channel. Love you Moog and Marty! The quality and genuineness of every video is amazing.
Thanks for letting us know, we’re enjoying making it!
With new cars costing so much & riddled with complicated electronics/tech...... it's good to see a good old car been refreshed & helping out the environment 👍
I love the philosophy behind this series! Please do more!
super cool. even when the profit is low you're still saving a car and helping the environment
Or helping people get a decent car, while sharpening your skills, profit is relative to what Marty, and the purchaser think.
@@angeloah more money helps though
@@tturi2 you’re not wrong.
This stuff is like OG mighty car mods but in one episode. Its super inspirational. I have a old car now i just keep alive now i wanna make it real again
I love these videos. Every clunker still on the road is an affordable way to open countless doors. (Especially a great wagon like this!)
Like you mentioned in the Renault video, this kind of project is becoming more important every year. Thanks for using your platform to spread that message.
Marty, let's do a few of these. These resto projects are pretty rad.
Keep these coming boys. Simple cars, quick fixes and mods...that's the MCM way
I love this style of video. Its a great reminder that old cars that might otherwise head to the scrap yard are worth putting some effort into! without going overboard on expensive new parts, you turned junk into something quite decent that someone will absolutely enjoy!
Marty’s skills are insane! Not only can he transform a car destined for the scrappers, but also the Levorg complete rebuild and engine swap! Mad respect ❤️
Disclaimer: Budget Build does not include all tools and hardware necessary to perform the work on the build. 😁
Plus the labor of multiple skilled mechanics
I did a similar catch and release with a one owner 2005 WRX Hatch that had 438,000kms on the clock. Car was all original driveline with complete Subaru service history.
Picked it up for $5000 with a nasty clunk which was caused by a blown centre diff. Picked up a reconditioned centre diff from Peter at Corgiwerx, gave it a full timing belt service with new water pump, cam seals and crank seal. Daily drove it for a few months and then sold it for just under $10,000.
I'm 150% liking this kinda video guys. Not only for what you're doing to save a vehicle from recycling, but more so , bringing something back that is something that is safer and cheaper(?) for other owners/drivers. With all due respect too, l most definitely like the "Wheeler Dealer" aspect of what you paid, the repair cost and other stuff versus the final sale price and this helps out too with future mechanical charges. Lurv'in ypur stuff!!
I usually don’t comment on videos but I’m loving these old school MCM feeling videos and the quick turnaround of putting cars back on the road, keep it up lads !
i would recommend getting yourself one of those pop up tents to use as a spray booth
I'd also recommend they invest in an HVLP spray system, they greatly cut down on the amount of paint you put into the air instead of on the panels. Not stupidly expensive either, well within the MCM budget I should hope.
@@ferrumignis That is a HVLP gun being used. Sure it’s a copy of a much better one, but it’s still HVLP. For Acrylic Laquer it’s actually not the greatest gun for transfer efficiency & only good for the basecoat.
MCM does this so much better than anyone else ✌️
MightyCarMods, The GREENEST 4WD channel in all of youtube!
thanks for saving old clunkers!
Haha classic! In automotive history, people like Marty who are so dedicated to their quality of work and their product are......not really great at making money selling cars at the end of the day, but they are legends and most of those brands are still alive in some fashion today because of their undying spirit. God bless mate!
I really like this series. Putting your expertise to good use, rescuing nuggets from THE BIN, getting them looking and working good again, out on the road again. Very commendable.
Keep them coming boys!
Partly from my father, and probably partly from Marty, I have turned into a huge wagon nerd. I own an Outback myself, in my family we have had... a bunch of different wagons/SUVs.
Most were American models, but for me personally I have also added Subaru to my interest "bucket" and in my rotation.
This one turned out great, I especially like the color.
Now that you have the spray gun, maybe time to get some kind of pop-up spray booth for the SuperGarage?
It seems like you got this spray gun with more of this series in mind, and of course it can be used for any project, and is a good investment.
Real down to earth attainable junkyard saver, the MCM way of saving "Super" Cars.
It’s amazing to see you going back to your roots Marty. I love seeing Subaru content like this, and I hope to see more.
This is the kind of content that makes mightycarmods different from all the other channels.
I love these resto- flip videos and I'm glad you're making more.
Keep it up, this is great content!
A video so good I get to watch it twice!
This is a great episode 2 for car flipping, as it shows that this isn't easy and things do go wrong.
I love all the subaru content from over the years, it's part of the reason I own a subaru today.
Great to see a wagon saved and back on the road.
really enjoying these types of videos showing the potential in affordable vehicles
I think it's Unreal how you guys are donating your profits you make on the cars to Reach Out! Bravo!
Absolutely love this new series! It's what I'd love to do if I had the space to do so. I bought an Mk3 Scirocco and 325i E93 during the pandemic, and quietly replaced panels, fixed some paint, improved the looks and stereo, and sold them both for a healthy profit - while having fun!
That was a interesting financial decision, nice that Marty was very honest about it and still really really good fun to watch!
Back to the roots of fixing up cheap cars, love it!
Great video MCM! You guys should continue this as a series and focus on restoring jdm legends
I love these old N/A EJ20 Subarus, I had 98 Impreza wagon. It was really fun to drive and super reliable even after I thrashed it on dirt roads. Such underrated cars.
3rd gen Subaru Legacy/Liberty are amazing and reliable cars.
I managed to get one for free, and fixed it up for cheap. It only needed new parking bulbs, adjustments to the headlights, a new washer tank and a small panel fix. That made it fully roadworthy. I probably spent around 500 NOK (around $50 US) in parts, and another 2000 NOK (around $200) for the roadworthiness tests, as well as a set of new summer tires for it (4000 NOK).
I sold it for 15,000 NOK (roughly $1500), so I made a nice profit on it.
It became someone's first car, and it was not a bad choice. The only downside is that Subaru engines are known to eat a lot of gasoline, and with gas being expensive over here, well you know how that goes. Fortunately the new owner does not need to drive all that much.
Marty rocking that digital fire.
Classic music when you intro'd the car and we got a Benny walking by taking the front bumper off! What year is it
On faded plastic parts try using a blowtorch. Works really well, stadiums use it to restore the plastic seats when they're sun damaged.
Loving the push to reuse/refresh older cars! So many parts out there and a rewarding process.
I love these. It reminds me of good old wheeler dealers
Budget builts are the best 👌
Thank you for saving this lovely wagon from the scrap!
$4,900 is a good price, too, considering all the work you've done on it! - I got my Outback of the same generation for under AU$3000. It's a higher spec than this and is in great mechanical condition for the age and k's, but it's a bit ragged looking and has had some dodgy repair work done to it. The important thing though is that it runs great and while it did need an interior cleaning, it wasn't nearly gross as most used Subarus I see. I absolutely love it and I'm definitely going to keep it on the road as long as I can.
I love those old subaru wagons. Properly fun to drive, big enough to haul friends/pets/family. Also blue is the best color.
no one expects the glove box dong
Mighty Car Flippers!
That’s my favorite gen outback/ legacy/ liberty/ grand wagon/ all the names you can throw at them! I love Marty’s commitment to keeping a nugget like this going. Thanks guys and cheers
This wasn’t a money maker, but it was honest, real content that showed how to restore and upgrade an everyday car. You weren’t coy about it, or covering anything up. You were honest and upfront. I personally loved this episode and found it to be better content than a vast majority of the shit on CZcams.
Amazing transformation guys! Outdid yourself once again!
Really enjoying this latest series!
Not that I ever lost interest, but these newer videos have got me absolutely hooked, further proof after all these years of watching you lads that you're truly the OGs of shitbox reviving awesomeness ❤
Thanks for MANY years of entertainment guys!
Marty once again proving he's a backyard modding beast. Honestly my favourite build in ages :D
Second time trying to watch this 😉 love this series of bringing cars back from the grave. Keep up the good work and will always love all your videos.
I love this series! I hope it gets the views that it deserves
Even if its a re-upload stil love this type of videos.
Please keep them coming guys.
Benny walking by and removing the bumper is such an iconic scene🤩
KEEP THESE KINDA VIDS GOING!@!!
I have a 2001 Outback wagon, it's a fantastic car.
Slow as hell, but it still slides like a beast in the snow 🤘
I love these budget restoration videos, everything is far more attainable relatable. This is what got me into MCM and encouraged me to work on my car. ❤
I love it!! I did almost the same thing 6 years ago with an 01 Outback I got for $500. It had a leaking water pump is all, also a bit of piston slap. Put $1k into it, mostly tires. Figured the piston slap would have sent it to scrap yard after a couple years. But I’m still driving it today as my daily beater! Ended up doing 2000 Impreza RS wheels, 215/70R16 AT tires, Baja Turbo springs for a lift and retrofitted the headlights. It’s been great!
the Marty shows off he knows subies and the subie market build
Good to see I can watch this after it got taken down the first time I got the notification. Love you guys so much. Always making the bad times better. Keep it up!
This is the kind of content that got me hooked 14+ years ago, we were just missing Moog and the workspace has improved drastically. If I'm honest I had been beginning to become less and less excited for MCM videos (specials excluded-they are MINT) last year or so. The builds and projects were becoming resource heavy and I couldn't relate. Although I still watch because it's like catching up with old mates and it's awesome to see how far you two have come. This return to a content matter more like OG MCM is very welcome by me and I'm sure a very fair amount of fans.
I just LOVE this new format !
I have to admit I was a little less engaged with the latest series but this new type of video is just amazing. And just knowing you guys are saving cars that would have been wrecked just makes me want to do the same.
Thanks for all the amzing work !
Hey its back!
That air-filter disposal. Skills !. Really good turn around on this one, it was definitely scrap. Now its really presentable and fit for the road.
Love seeing the honesty in a build video like this, and especially for viewers who are searching for a bargain or their first car - I was once that viewer, many many builds ago - this is inspiring!
Loving this budget build series. Thank you!
Annnnnnd its back 🙂
25:30 😂 loved that
Yessssss! Wheeler dealer vibes!
Colour matched roofbox is such a great idea
He should totally wear a t-shirt over a long sleeve t-shirt😂
Love this series of quick repairs on mighty nugget. It’s mcm back on the roots, good for the planet, good for the viewers and good for peoples that find this good cared cheap cars ❤

Love the honesty of these guys. One of the few good CZcams channels still on earth.
These Marty Car Mods videos are so bittersweet. Marty is fantastic and you're happy for Moog's success, but you know it's the end of an era.
MOOG is coming back... right?
What - Top gear finished filming ages ago. We are both back filming MCM 🤷🏻♂️ One project in SG and another in MCM at the same time

That actually ended up as such a great end product. Assuming the head-unit had apple carplay/android auto or at the very least bluetooth, then you literally did everything I would want to for a car of that price and age. Great little project!
These new videos are brilliant 🤗🤗 love the quick turnovers and profit builds... Thanks again gents
Last time I was this early I was shooting out of my dad....
Yeah, keep 'em coming. Really loved the editing pace as well. Good for us with the short attention span lol. Didn't even have time to think about skipping.
Nice one Marty! This is what many car guys dream about. Buying a cheap car with potential and just making it work on a budget. Although you are not making much money with this, Its great inspiration for people who want something on a low budget! And having a fun time with your mates!
I had a 97 as my first car and it’s really neat to see what they look like when someone’s put the effort in to return it to stock/better condition. And great shots+music as always
What a feel-good vid! So great to see the wagon getting a new life, these Subarus are timeless.
I enjoyed this so much. You guys are saving such interesting, worthwhile cars. Please keep it coming!
Thee joy u get out of doing something you love, money won't ever satisfy that feeling.
Keep it up. I just bought a cheap e46 330i and plan on doing the exact same thing u guys doing. Cheers
Love the fix and flips guys. Gives me the same feels to OG MCM back in the driveway days where it was just make it work for cheap but still be as awesome as possible!
Been a fan for a while, but these series of rescuing cars and puting them back on the road by far my favorite yet. Keep the good work champs.
I’m so excited that someone finally did a super car build on my super car. I’ve had mine for 17years. And have done a lot of those items. In the states aftermarket suspension is hard to come by for this model. So it is still on stocks. With 300k mls. still running strong.
I love these videos. Ive always been fascinated by car build ups or even salvage repairs. Always really cool to see!
