The Torment on the second game may have not killed but still set you up for not dying.
And he could've attacked with the nazgul for another 3 damage which wouldn't have been blocked because of deathtouch.

Even without attacking with the nazgul, if he had saced a creature to the tower then it would net him an extra mana which means they would only have 1 card either in hand or on board, presumably the 12/12. With the way the life totals were and what he had in hand I think it would have been better to force them to hedge everything on the 1 creature than to let them play out all their stuff.
…Why would you shorten it to “Torment?” There’s _13_ cards with the word “torment” in their name (and 3 “torment of” cards from Hour, as well as _30_ cards that include “torment” in general). But there’s only a single Hailfire in the whole game. Ain’t that a better way to shorten it?

18:20: PSA for any 'draft' cards. If you right click the card it'll bring up the card to examine more closely and you can cycle through all the cards in that card's spellbook.

“I’m an expert on Lord of the Rings now” into “Gollum is the before picture” is the expertise I live for
(well actually voice) Gollum Patient Plotter depicts Gollum in the cave Bilbo meets him in in The Hobbit, whereas Smeagol Helpful Guide depicts the reformed 'Smeagol' who guides Sam and Frodo, so technically the Gollum card does come before the Smeagol card, unless you use the alternate art version of Gollum that depicts him (presumably) in Mount Doom!
In that second game, attack with Nazgûl makes them either chump with ghalta and you just play it out how you did with a likelihood of not dying, or they face an x=11 torment leaving them with no non lands and no cards in hand at 3 life
My only complaint is not using the 9 different arts for Nazgul. Truly a flavor fail

@@CrusinaYep! I spent 9 of my 100+ uncommon wildcards on one of each art. Just open the little browser option on the card when you select it for your deck and make sure craft is on.
youre lying, they arent wildcards. theyre cosmetics and theyre like 5k gold a piece.

There is an infinite combo with him. The landfall creature that tempts if u have no rin bearer, plus a sac outlet, plus scute Swarm or and landfall creature maker. You temp, trigger smeagol, sac ring bearer(not smeagol, scute or any other important piece), get land and trigger for the tempt, rinse and repeat
15:17, to answer your question Seth, yes, you should've tormented X=11. Opponent had 6 cards in hand, 4 permanents and 9 life. to stay alive, they would've needed to discard their whole hand, sac 3 things and lose 6 life to go to 3 and end up with only one permanent (probably Ghalta but it wasn't lethal then).
And before that, swing with the Nazgul which they would have needed to either trade Ghalta (unlikely) or take the 3. Taking he 3 means they have to sac everything to not die to the Torment outright. And blocking means they keep thrun lose their hand and go to 3.

I don’t understand why he blocked with gollum in the end of the last match thinking Bombadil’s song would save, it had first strike and deathtouch, not sure why the opponent scooped either
I think both players thought it grants Indestructible?
I like adding Ich-Tekik and the other Splicers into the deck because Smeagol is the best Gollem commander.

So for historic brawl, it’s only big atraxa that’s in the op pool, not regular one. It’s kept in check by everybody playing super friends and just dying to aggro with it.
I play against big Atraxa all the time with a variety of decks. It's sadly not in the busted pile (might be to weak for the OP meta not sure but god does it wreck all my midrangy decks lacking counterspells)
@@Aronia55 when queues slow down it can sneak into other queues just bc of the massive amount of meta share it has, the pools arent strict if youre waiting for a minute or so itll just pop you into a random opp, but if you try playing atraxa youll notice that 70+% of games are mirror matches or ragavan, and youll know.
So happy the content creators started to post the Smeagol decks :)

I got a shadow of the enemy in a draft pool recently, pack one pick one, so I went hard mono-black and did okay, but MVP was absolutely shadow of the enemy, it either allowed me to replay all the creatures my opponent spent turns killing, or let me play all my opponent's best dead creatures. Honestly I mostly cast it on myself, but I did use it on a couple of opponents, still worked to give me a ton of late-game gas.
Love it when Seth plays Brawl. He's having so much fun with it!

You need to try a Dimir Mouth of Sauron historic brawl deck! I've been having using lots of interaction to set up a repeatable massive army threat to finish out the deck

Very happy to see more Historic Brawl content. Since Wizards ruined regular Historic for me, HB is my favorite format on Arena.
Seth trying to do the voice repeatedly had me dying.
You can hear the trauma in Seth's voice when he talks about losing to birds.
Altar of demencia+dunedain ranger+scuttleswarm+Smeagol with 6 Land is a take all Lands from your opponent library and probably mill them with one Land trigger. You make a token the ring bearer, sac it before Smeagol trigger resolve, Land come into play, new token, ring it, sac it in response and repeat

I think you needed to also attack with the nazgul on the ghalta game
The torment second game would have totally saved you an you could have presented lethal next turn if they didn't draw a creature that was playable

Dundain with a Sac outlet and ScuteSwarm goes infinite with smeagol (mills out the opps. deck) :O

Maybe it's a bit late but can you play standard brawl with Ovika Convoke?, seems like a cool against the odds deck
Herald of Leshrak would be a powerhouse in this deck.
Sauron the necromancer would really help by bringing back Nazgûl and getting another trigger every attack.
You early scooped again at 49:00. You could have played Witch-king of Angmar. Unless he could proliferate an additional two times on his turn, you survived with 8 or maybe 9 poison counters. And if you block the Voidwing, you force a sac of his last token off Skrelv's Hive so he has only the one generated that turn remaining. It buys you at least one extra turn, which could have been enough depending on top deck.
This is moot if he had one proliferate spell and a removal for Witch-King, but he didn't have determined lethal, only possible.
If this deck has a mill theme, wouldn’t you say the Sword of Body and Mind synergizes well with the deck? Checkmate Seth! >:D
why not use 1 of each nazgul instead of 9 of the same? just need to click the arrow on the card when putting it in the deck
FYI, you can click a card, then right click through its spellbook without having to search it. Also this seems like a shoe-in deck for Rise of the Dark Realms.
Wash away is actually insane. Without playing cleave it's 1 mana stop commander, with paying its a generic 3 mana counter.
infinite mill combo with dunedain raiders, scute swarm and a sac outlet makes mill an actual wincon.

The One Ring is the new Sol Ring, in that every commander deck is going to run one.
I love the flavor of the Ring as well as its power level and absolutely would pay it a lot if it wasn't $50+...

Shadow of the enemy really sucks when you think about it. Rise of the dark realm is one more mana... shadow of the enemy you still have to pay for each creature

If youd sacced both creatures, the torment would have put them to 3 with no hand and no board. Not precisely lethal, but close enough
I think there's a strong argument for Ratadrabik to be a strong Nazgul commander as well? Since, w/ Ratadrabik, Nazgul, and a free sac outlet, you can make an infinitely large Nazgul - potentially at instant speed! Due to being the Ringbearer making you legendary, you can then sac the legendary Nazgul to make a token copy - and repeat ad infinitum!! It gets even more absurd if you have any kind of token doubler, like Mondrak, which also works with Ratadrabik for other nonsense!!
TIL, if a Man-Land becomes the Ring-Bearer, it remains so even when it stops being a creature.

I do not think Atraxa is actually in the "Hell queue" of Historic Brawl, I stopped playing the format because she seemed to be at least 50% of the meta regardless of which deck I played.
This Atraxa isn't hellqueue, it's the other Atraxa that is

Played against this Smeagol in Historic Brawl. Probably one of my worst matches ever. This card is boosted.
4 mana Atraxa isn't a very good commander in 1v1 compared to the 7 mana one
the biggest punt i've ever seen Seth make was thinking that Historic Brawl is a casual format where you can do janky things.

Now you see the reason I stopped playing Brawl?? We live in a time with an insane amount of legendary creatures, yet almost the only thing you see is Atraxa, Sauron, smeagol and sometimes an aragorn. it's so boring.
