- This is how we don't run aground in the ICW which is notorious for shallow water in spots. Enjoy!
Remember, our videos are about a month behind real time. This one happened in April 2023.

Thanks for the video! We’re leaving in October from Tennessee. I’ve read that the actual ICW Aton colors are returning when traveling clockwise around the US coast.
Yes, that is correct. Best wishes on your adventure!
Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video. In Europe the buoy colours are the opposite going up stream red port, as in wine, green starboard. We pronounce buoy as boy. Behind islands in tidal waters we use the triangles on a pole for points of the compass which can be confusing to amateurs.
Interesting!
Great Channel!!! Have you done a full routine start-up procedure video yet? If so i will search for it. Make sure you include starting to make the coffee...lol Thanks!!!!
See if this one does the trick:

I also have a whole coffee video!
@@onFIREfamily forgot i already watched that one...well not all the way thru as i just did the other day. Great video!!!! Really enjoying all of them, happy for y'all and cant wait till it's our turn. Cheers!!
Great video!! We recognized the water you were on. We are based out of Safe Harbor South Harbor Village Southport. Got to say WOW - shooting this on a Saturday and all of that claim water. Enjoy your trip. Stay safe.
Awesome! Glad you recognized the spot! We loved that area!
Great video for those not familiar with the water markers. Attention should be there all the time because of all the nerds that don't know the rules or don't care. Respect for other boaters is very important and it is lacking with a lot of boaters. Good luck and Enjoy.
Absolutely
Very informative. Thanks for sharing your lessons learned.
Glad it was helpful!
Love your vids, very helpful as we plan our journey! Thank you for taking the time to do these.
Glad you like them! If you ever have any questions we can help with let us know!!
Much good info. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and very informative and helpful
Glad it was helpful! Things we wish we knew before we started this section!
Enjoy your videos, thank you for producing them. What aid(s) do you use to look at the tides?
We use an app on our phones called “Tides.”
I hear a lot of loopers complaining about wakes and inconsiderate boaters and I really gotta say... y'all need to just chill out about it. I grew up on the water, spent my entire life around boats, and never, ever heard anyone crying about wakes the way loopers do on CZcams. Wakes are a fact of life with boats, especially on the ICW and especially when you're not in a no wake zone. It's kind of like complaining about that pile of snow the plow leaves at the end of your driveway... you got two options- deal with it, or move south. So with the wakes, you can either accept it as part of your payment to enjoy boat life, or you can get an RV.
But I really do think the complaining needs to stop because it teaches a sanctimonious mindset to the next generation of loopers and boaters over something that is as permanent and as controllable as the tides. Adults, just as kids, are products of their environment.
It’s true and we’ve been on both sides of it this year (both making wakes and taking wakes). You bring up some good points. Thanks.
Curious on the Corps of Engineers overlay. Is that only on Aqua Maps or is it available for Navionics? Also any tips on getting that into your map program/ipad?
As far as I know it’s only available on Aquamaps. Here’s how: www.aquamap.app/support/17-master-functions/16-us-a-co-e-surveys
Hmm, .....Garmin, iPhone, iPad, ...... this computer navigation program, that navigation program.......makes we wonder how I navigated 900ft containerships all over the world without those computerized navigation programs. Back in 1979, I navigated from St Johns, Newfoundland to the Rock of Gibraltar, never saw the sun once and there was no satellite navigation. Clearly, navigation is made easier with the computerized programs.
Wow! Yes, I can’t imagine those days (but you made it work)! I still think paper chart navigation should be taught even though we have more modern tools these days.
It seems like you started your journey just a couple months ago and recently you talked about finishing it. How long do you expect to take to complete the loop?
We started over a year ago. June 2022. We expect to finish in August 2023 (14montha total).
Do you have to start the generator to brew your coffee?
No. We have an inverter that can run a coffee pot or tea kettle. I usually fire up the generator to charge the batteries in the morning though. When we spend a lot of time on anchor it’s usually a few hours in the morning and a few in the evening. The alternators doa. Great job if we’re moving a lot. Also, if we want to run heat or AC, we run the generator a bit.
Makes me sad to see the "For Sale" signs.
Us too. 😥 One year and done was the plan so we’re honoring that. It’s a bittersweet time for sure.
I was thinking the same thing. Remembering hanging with you through all your shopping and now it’s for sale.
