Lots of fantastic information here! We learned a lot even though we’ve done 2,000 miles of ICW so far 😁

Your effortless understanding and use of digital navigation and weather is quite impressive. Much has changed since when I first went to sea (late 70’s) with Notice to Mariners (chart corrections penciled in by hand), Loran C (near and off shore), sextant (open ocean), SSB weather reports, and world events decrypted from radio transmitted morse code. With your calm, clear and enthusiastic demeanor, both of you could certainly teach this former Fortran punchcard-operator the modern tools for mariners (cruisers). Thanks! FJ Viola

If it makes you feel better, I still skim the LNM every week and make notes for myself in Navionics! 😂 but yeah, there are so many more tools now, even in the last ten years it feels like it's exploded, it's hard to keep up sometimes! --Gwen

@@AbroadReachTravel Christmas 1980 I was a maritime cadet getting extra sea-time on a Texaco T2 Tanker from Beaumont TX to Bayonne NJ. During an 08-12 watch I asked the grizzled Captain what was the most innovative thing he had seen in all his years going to Sea: Radar? Loran? Sat-Nav? (at that time multiple satellite lines were plotted to acquire a Fix). The 'Old Man' replied, "It was the 'Enclosed' Wheelhouse" :)
