What a fantastic cheap fix. Watched this video a few nights ago after the wife was creating about the wax on her Kia trim. After buying an eraser and hitting the trim, I felt compelled to leave a review. Thanks for the info.
Awesome pumpkin! Glad it worked well for you!
I am so grateful to run into your video. Thought I'd take time out, to give you a shout...Thank you. So stories goes: I had a dumb bimbo said she knows all about detailing and her daddy taught her everything. She went out and "detailed" the paint with wax along with all plastic. I panicked after the job, and didn't know what to do. I tried rubbing alcohol and microfiber rags...didn't work. What gets me most is she said basically she knew it all, and I am left with a haze on all trim. Thanks to this video, I resolved the problem. Couple of Pink Pets is your best bet; for "professional" detailers that think that they know it all. She thought all plastic trim needed wax too; in her professional opinion.
Thanks for the positive feedback. I appreciate it! I’m glad this worked for you. There is always somebody out there that thinks they know everything lol
@@GarageGear It's a brand new Ford too, so you can imagine how I pooped my pants after discovering the haze.
@@randyclar747 I bet! And things aren’t cheap this days!
I've been fighting this battle for years. Spent three dollars on a six pack of erasers, worked great thank you so much, dude you rock. 😃
Simple hack that works unbelievable well! You got it Kevin! Thanks for watching! 👍
omg i’m going to my local supermarket tomorrow i can’t wait to try this
Magic erasers work great to sand off a fresh layer before cerakote. Barely had a few overmarks. They remove the eraser left overs embedded too.
At my last service they did an industrial fall-out treatment, but got some wax on the trim. They've been struggling for 2 months to get it off. Whilst watching this 4m46s video I gave it a thumbs up, subscribed to the channel and cleaned the first wheel arch after searching 2 minutes for an eraser. Best 5 minutes I've spent all year. Thanks Mate, this is amazing
Awesome super! Glad you found this video helpful my friend!
same here so simple but it works. but would never have thought to try without seeing this.
Just tried it and the erase works! You just saved me a lot money! Thanks😊
Awesome Randy! It’s an awesome little trick not many know about! Thanks for watching!
Worked for me. Even on wax that had been there for a while. Never would have guessed. Great video!
Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
I didn’t have the big eraser, but I do wood working and I had a rubber gum block… it removed the wax without the need to remove the eraser afterwords. It’s called an abrasive cleaner eraser… basically a chunk of real rubber.
Thanks for sharing glenn
I’m 70 years old and been swearing at wax on moulding for most of them. Good trick.
Now ya know my friend! 👍
@@GarageGear I’m wondering if this is why my dad used to say “keep a pack of rubbers in the glove box”😉
@@Sherwoody our old man’s had a point lol
Thank for the save! Worked like magic!
You got it! Thanks for watching!
Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Awesome BG! Glad it worked out well for you! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you man!!! 🙌🏻 I tried all kinds of “goof off” products and it just caused headaches.
No problem! Glad you found this video helpful Nicholas! 👍
That's awesome! Thank you!
Works well! Give it a shot! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing this tip! It works like magic!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, worked great and isn't messy. Thanks.
You got it! Thanks for watching
Purple power degreaser works in seconds as well. Eraser is a cool trick!
Thanks for sharing Tyler
Great eraser trick, thanks for sharing! I was a bit skeptical at first, but we’ve got a few of those erasers around the house, so figured I’d try it… now that front lower black plastic lip on my black ’94 Corvette is finally cleaned up! Thanks!!
Awesome you brought that plastic back! Those old erasers from school actually serve a purpose lol! Thanks for watching!
Wow this actually worked!! I’m so happy!!
Yep! On most panels it works just fine! Thanks for watching Jade!
Thanks it worked for me , Appreciated!! Cheers from Costa Rica!
!!
Awesome Gus! Glad this video helped you out! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for tip. Will erase until my arm aches snd then some more!!
Have fun, my friend. It will look good when it’s done.
This is genius! Thank you!
Thanks for watching hakeem!
Great idea, works great
Awesome my friend! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great tip! Off to buy a BIG eraser!
You can’t go wrong with that eraser Randal! Thanks for being a cool fan! 👍
I just feel all warm and fuzzy every time you mention Chemical Guys. 😂 awesome tips! Thank you!
Thanks bud! Alright you forced my hand I’ll have to get some chemical guys wax for one of my next applications. Any Recommendations?
@@GarageGear oh wow. Wasn’t really expecting that. Talk about pressure. LOL If I had to recommend one, I would probably have to say EXTREME TOP COAT WAX AND SEALANT. 👍
@@BigDaddysGarage okay perfect! I will add this to my list. I have a few more to get to first but will try this one out down the road. Thanks for the suggestion! 👍
Tks alot u saved me bro :D

This worked on a Mazda CX-30. Thanks.
Glad it worked!
Worked well. Thumbs up
Glad this video helped you out! Thanks for watching
Nice. Simple. Logic.
Works great! Thanks for watching Michael!
Thank you for the video! I have been looking at the white dry wax on my vehicles black trim for months, trying to get rid of it. Then I came across your video. Used a white eraser and it worked great. I really appreciate it. 😊
No problem Lani! It’s funny the same big eraser that we overlooked back in elementary school is still solving problems for us today! Thanks for watching!
@@GarageGear Hi again JB, do you know how to safely clean piano black interior? I use a microfiber towel when the interior of my pilot gets dusty, but not sure if I should use any sort of sprays on it as well. Thanks!
@@lani9779 good question. That type of interior is tough. Using a micro fiber cloth to dust it often is good way to go about it. Using any sprays can usually just lead to finger prints all over it. I’ve even used a damp cloth on first before then follow it with a dry cloth to really clean it. That seemed to work for me.
@@GarageGear I figured water would be safe to use as well, will continue to stick with that. 😊 Thank you for the reply.
@@lani9779 you’re welcome! 👍
Thanks
You got it!
Stoked thanks brothet
You got it Wayne! Thanks for watching
I was dubious, but it worked! I did a quick once around and removed probably 98% of the wax on my Tundra's black plastic trim and it was on every piece of plastic.
Sounds like it worked for you . Thanks for Watching!
Thank you, I Love You ❤️
👍love ya too! 👍
Thanks!
You got it Jerry! Thanks for watching!
Thanks from Wales, UK
Thanks for watching my friend!
I basically geeked out when I saw that old blow gun! Great video! 🇺🇸🤘
Haha you should have seen me when I saw it for .50 cents lol! I figured you’d get a kick out of it! 👍 how have you been bud?
@@GarageGear That’s incredible. I’ve gotten a few yard sale scores like that - always a great feeling! All good here my man - not a ton of free time with the new family addition, but life is good! I hope all is well out in the falls!
@@jimmysgarage9068 life is good man! Congrats again on the new addition to the family.
This looks like a good method,I am going to have to do this to ALL the plastic on my Jeep as the body shop after repairing it got....wax buffing happy and put it on everything...yeah it looks horrible atm.
Give it a shot Top Hat! It should work for you! Thanks for watching! 👍
Had my new Raptor detailed and they got way all over the plastics. Didn't notice it until about a month later after the trim stuff wore off. Going to try this out.
Works on most plastics Kristopher! I have a feeling you won’t be disappointed! Thanks for watching!
Well I’ll be damned. This works perfect. Tried many products. Latest one was McGuire ultimate black which did well for a few rain storms. Thanks so much for this!!
Simple and effective! Thanks for watching!
wOw! Thanks so much! My MDX looked *fantastic* after an entire day of detailing . . . except the back bumper-ASHY AF-lol! The pink eraser worked like a charm.
Great to hear Joey! 👍
Thats hilarious how easy this is. I had so much trouble before. 😅
Very easy! Thanks for watching!
HAVE tried waaay too many different directions. NEVER imagine a simple BIG eraser will do the job 🤷🏻♂️
Works great! 👍
I've been doing the pink eraser for several years,I was hoping for some easier
Thanks for watching
Worked perfectly for me - very cool, thank you Brother! Suggest masking paint around edges where needed to avoid micro-scratches from the eraser.
Thanks for the tip and for watching! Glad it worked!
@@GarageGear Very entertaining video, too - best of luck to you.
@@jimj7571 appreciate you Jim!
i live in Ireland have 2022 Toyota rav4 waxed first time when it was new just over a year ago been stuck with the wax on trims ever since tried everything including chemical guys, no way would it budge, cost me plenty as well trying to move it, saw your you tube video and thought yea, i think not, yet sure enough after having wax on trims for a year its now gone, had given up thanks a lot.
Glad this worked for you big Steve! !
YEEEEEEEESSSSSS, DUUUUUDE!
Thanks for watching
Professional Meguiar's detailer here...the easiest way to remove wax/compound from cracks and plastic trim, is to not get it in/on there in the first place! It's not necessary to buff so close to these areas by machine or by hand. When you've polished and waxed the whole vehicle, apply spray wax to a folded microfiber towel and go over all your trim. Its great for all rubber, vinyl, and plastic trim, and dries clear.
Thanks for sharing
Tremendous! I just used half a can of furniture polish on the bonnet graphics of my new to me tuxedo black Raptor. The side panels however are still needing seen to… going to try that. Cheers bud!😎🍻
How did you get your tonneau cover so slick by the way?😎🤓
ROCK ON Jamie! Nothing crazy with the Tonneau cover. Just wash the whole truck once a week. I have used automatic transmission fluid to dress it up once or twice but that only lasts until the first rainstorm. A thin amount goes a long way. Better than armor all. Thanks for watching.
Giggity!!!
JB, you might have a touch of OCD 😜
Great tip none the less. I’ve been plagued by errant wax for years and just lived with it. I’ll definitely try this out.
Haha just a touch of it lol! I just like my stuff to look as nice as possible. Give it a shot! You won’t be disappointed! How has your week been bud?
mr clean magic erasers work way faster an better than pencil eraser!!
Thanks for sharing!

You just have me a piece of mind lol
ROCK ON my friend! Thanks for watching!
I had heavy wax buildup from carwashes. Straight Isopropyl Alcohol worked the best, with a dry rag and pressure. The products DO NOT WORK; Chemical Guys, Back to Black, Glass cleaners etc. And I didn't get good results with the eraser. sometimes it made it worse
Thanks for sharing
I had a 2010 Jeep JKU that I bought used. So it was neglected, I had eventually used the White Cleaning Eraser, I don't remember what brand but it will scratcher the clear coat.
Thanks for sharing Cody!
Can this trick be used on shiny black plastic?
Hey Marsha, I’d say it’s worth a shot. It works on a variety of black plastics but not on all. Give it a whirl and let me know if it works for you! Thanks for watching!
The giggity giggity got me. Subscribe
Haha thanks for watching and welcome to the tribe Preston!
Erasers work but you can mar the plastic if you're too aggressive. Mineral spirits work amazingly well with little effort.
Thanks for sharing
❤👍
Thanks for watching MPGunther1!
What if you don't have access to compressed air?
@@randyclar747 you could always wash the vehicle again or rinse with hose.
Used the Mother's, which was great for awhile. But now it's turned streaky, so it's a temporary fix.
Thanks for sharing Frank! 👍
Thanks for the tip! Since I don’t have an air gun, I’ll have to persuade my wife to brush the eraser bits away while I follow her with my leaf blower on full blast.
Not a bad idea! Thanks for watching mike!
Eraser didn't work on the raptor line paint I have on the bottom half of my truck or the plastic bed liner for me but I simply put a little bit of wd40 on a rag it wiped right off easier than the eraser trick
Thanks for sharing
I was truly hopeful it would work on ceramic coating, Unfortunately it didn’t….I’ll keep looking for a solution.
Thanks for watching
What bed cover is that?
Hey Ap A here is a link to the one on my Tacoma! amzn.to/3bhyedk thanks for watching! 👍
😲😲😲😲
Mind blown!
Oh, and… FIRST!
Haha your faster than the spammers I get commenting on my videos lol! 👍
Sadly this didn’t work for me, tried it on a bike rack with plastic parts and it feels like I’m better off just taking a light scrubbing brush to it. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know
Thanks for sharing
The eraser didn’t work for me, maybe the eraser was to old
Perhaps try another one
I paid 160 to get my truck waxed and they got wax on every single bit of plastic edge around the paint even the door jambs and bumper plastic and bed rails. They literally ruined my plastics all over the entire truck.
I feel your pain zero value! Reasons like this are why I do it all myself! Thanks for watching 👍
what if its on thr paint?all over the car?anything that removes it??its very dry and ugly:-(
Did you not completely buff the car after you waxed it?
@@GarageGear ummm nope
Who would have thought to use an eraser to erase your mistakes. 😂
Right??? Works like a charm! Thanks for watching
Thanks
You got it CS!
