- the lower level was originally built for allowing broadway line express trains to continue south of city hall
the platform is now used to store trains on the weekends

ty for watching
I read somewhere that beyond the station the ceiling continues to get lower and lower until the tunnel ends at a cement wall.
Yea I read that somewhere too, something about how like the tunnel just leads into nothing and then it ends. Kinda creepy tbh
Because the Upper Level was built to ramp down onto it which wasn’t the original plan
Our old Recon room was down there where we worked out of the Vandal Squad. Keep in mind that you are taking a risk if you are caught and will be charged with "3d degree criminal trespass'. which is a misdemeanor offense under New York Penal Law 140.10 which involves: Entering the property of another.
This was actually the original terminus for express trains on the line. The previous station, Canal St was originally a local station with the express tracks bypassing through the center as usual and then diving down to City Hall’s lower level and ending there. Unlike most similar lines which were originally designed for local trains to short-turn and express trains to continue, this was vice-versa. Nowadays, the express tracks have been cut short just before Canal St and then they turn east to stop at their own new express platforms at the same station before heading to the Manhattan Bridge and the remaining express tracks from Canal St to City Hall’s lower level platforms have been repurposed as storage tracks. This is why Canal St’s upper level looks like a typical local station and yet, its “express” trackways end within the northern end of the station due to the tunnel entrance/exit being in its way.
Best video of this “station” I’ve seen!! Always wondered how far the tunnels went south of the station, would love to see where they go!!
Great Video 🎥👍👍👍👍👍
Never knew lower level has 2 island platforms! Great vid🔥💯
dopeee 🥰🥰
What’s the entrance from the back because that’s where I see most people come from
The tunnel could turn west and go to jersey to complements the path
Wow! Cool, and creepy 🤷🏻♂️🚇
Very creepy.
fire vid bro keep up the good work🔥🔥🔥🔥
The original purpose was the upper platform was the last stop and the lower platform was a part of express/local until Manhattan Bridge connected to express/local
Lower level is used to store trains now
You are correct. The route off the Manhattan Bridge was originally planned to go farther west but the plans were changed to create the present track arrangement.
Not too smart to be walking around like that. I worked for NYCT and CHL was one of my locations that I worked from. As an employee I didn't like to go down on the lower level to get my train. Junkies, homeless and who knows what else lived there. If something happened no one would know until the next shift found your body hours later in the morning .
i always wondered why in all of these underground vids on utube, you never see the homeless
Interesting! A map would have helped us understand exactly where it is.
there's a functioning station in the same area that's even creepier.
What is it?
Good thing they left all the lights on, the rats hate commuting in the dark.
Why are there Running lights?
The TA still uses the Lower Level to lay up trains
how did u get down there
Was there something down there that made you walk on the sides after going beyond the abandoned platform?
Water
Electric eels in the water.
@@suspiciouswatermelon7639 really 😒
What a waste of good space. Oh well.
Where’s the location?
Sheesh what train usedto run through this station?
3:36 What’s down there?
those are pools of water and is just a reflection of the ceiling
I always wonder how these guys never get caught tresspassing like that?
Trespassing is more often an add-on charge than a standalone charge in nyc unless someone decides to sue them. In this case, there isn't really either property damage or something threatening to the mta here, therefore pursuing a lawsuit against people theyd have to go to lengths to contact would cost more in legal fees than anything these guys did.
@@antonioreconquistador I was thinking more in the lines of CRIMINAL Trespassing.
@@markemanuele1929 yeah me too... It's costly to try and track people down and pursue a trial
Cuz no MTA worker is gonna go outta there way to stop u, trust me they don’t care. It’s nyc
i always wondered why in all of these vids you never see homeless or junkies
1:04 an unknown sound came from city Hall(bellow the station)
Are u like a 100% there aren’t any.. idk.. big turtle people that happen to be around the transitional period age wise between adulthood and childhood who enjoy Japanese culture specifically dressing up as midcentury Japanese guards and assassins hanging around down there?
That also just so happen to like pizza?
@Blue Skies Media. That's a bummer.
What city is this in?
Nyc
Which city hall is this??
N/Q/R/W
Watch the watch
What
Granted you didn't want to get caught but I mean could you have at least shown up some of the stairwells and ladders? You are going through so fast swinging that camera on so bad I get seasick just trying to watch this thing and you got decent video but the problem is you're not using it?
That is not abandoned that’s just this use in revenue service some W trains are store down there
Yall need to stop walking in these stations without a respirator. You can die from this stuff, asbestos etc. Please we love the videos, just make sure your wearing a respirator.
why NLN gotta slap my boy for 😕
how do you get there?
you don't wanna know
Why
@@Mattpsb the horrors you must endure to get there are beyond your comprehension
@@BenriBea tell me
Assuming You'd have to walk under Canal Street express tracks that goes under the platform level and that's dangerous because the N/Q express trains turn off to the Manhattan Bridge
