ThePasu88 OMG, yes! I totally thought Midnight Meat Train!
Alexis LaFury me too.
You didn't smuggle anything. You're allowed to stay on that train when it goes through the old station to turn around. I've done it a few times. Gonna sneak in to Central Park next?
lmao xD
Lmao
@Stahlhelm Model. 1940 Fd. Gr. lol
These lads ACTUALLY did it: czcams.com/video/vWF3IDk9Gek/video.html
In"My haunted diary" video, the guy is actually in the station with a bunch of people getting off the train in the city hall station. Does not look like the impossible mission to me either...
You guys didn’t sneak in at all Lmao. I’ve ridden the 6 train around the loop a few times and the subway conductors are very nice about letting me do it. I got the chance to actually stand on the platform in August 2019 with the NY Transit Museum LEGALLY. It was ten minutes in my life that I’ll remember FOREVER.
I mean, this is a video by BuzzFeed. You can't be expecting actual quality from them.
I came here to say this, since I've taken the Transit Museum tour twice-which included an informative above-ground walking tour immediately before the tour; I also regularly ride the 6 train around the bend from downtown to uptown, although visibility of the station is ridiculously poor.
I'm more interested to see the now-closed lower-level City Hall station on the N line going out to Brooklyn Heights, since you can actually see the station by looking down through the locked gate.
I'd love to visit the 18th street station on the 6 train, since that station was closed in the 40s; that's one I've only experienced by pressing my nose to the window when the 4 or 5 train slows just before it reaches the Union Square station.
I love how they have to make sure they tell everyone that trespassing is illegal and we shouldn't do it... most of us will do it anyways 😂
Sarah Dubé I
Sarah Dubé They don't want flocks if people trying to do the same thing and crowd an old subway station
Sarah Dubé for real lol like idgaf
I trespassed once... i was 3 and didn't know what i was doing was illegal lol
i know this was 6 yrs ago but this technically isn't trespassing, as people here in nyc are allowed to sit on trains after the last stop
I love when big companies document their employees doing illegal things
Sarah Adams please watch the entire video
P. Song I did and I made a joke
Sarah Adams same
It's not even that big of a deal, a lot of people ride the train through that loop, only every now and then people are told to get off, which almost never happens since when the trains are taken out of service it's in the Bronx. The riding in between cars is dangerous and more of a problem, but not uncommon
true.
New York Transit Museum has Old City Hall tour. Old City Hall station tours begin above ground with a historical walk in the area, followed by a visit to the station itself. Tours last 90 minutes and tickets cost $50 per person.
thanks for ruining my dream cuz im not paying 200 bucks
@@andrewyu5569 Then go alone.
50$ for a visit ??
@@whaur1394 Not exactly. You must become a member of the NY Transit Museum (it costs 60 $ per year) and after that you can book a guided tour for 50 $. Total = 110 $ for the 90' visit. Sadly, it's too much for my pocket.
@@Serkin76 It's too much for you because it's simply just too much, in Europe visits cost between 5-15€ most of the time and for more things that just a station

Now that’s what I call a Nothing Sandwich. What’s next? Interview a tree in Central Park.
Lmao!!!
The interview with the tree should be interesting. When's it being posted?Love to know.
I feel like more people are going to stay on the train to see the city hall stop.
timetogotosleepzzz i will do it
I actually wanna step foot and check out the station
Chris Sasaki Yeah I guess the only way is to walk on track
@Skender: There are ways to get there and look around but none of them are legal so it isn't worth it.
timetogotosleepzzz uû
This should be series with these two guys where they try to get to old forgotten places called forgotten
Edit: wow I've never gotten so many likes and replys on a comment before thanks guys
Sim Sim YES
Sim Sim that's genius
They're gonna get arrested
I mean, there are already tons of videos of urban explorers finding these forgotten places on youtube. You just have to search for them.
Sim Sim yes new series! old ghost towns and possibly abandoned mansions. good idea
If you’re from NYC you know the 6 train loop already.
Amateurs.
theripoffchicago factsss
theripoffchicago same
theripoffchicago not to mention there is also a tour you can take of city hall for like 50 bucks
The real forgotten stations are those like Worth Street, 18th Street, and 91st Street
czcams.com/video/e3H6E2wLT0I/video.html
Just join the Transit Museum and sign up for the tour. No brainer. Clickbait.
Thank you!
and if you don't have the money?
Damian Chmielewski It has a monthly fee and it's about $60 for that attraction.
Diory get a job
Ed Greenberg ikr I was like wtf is this video
new series! called "forgotten" PLEASEE BUZZBEED. they should do the abandoned Disney park
There are a lot of people in the Disneyparks....
Taoxlrgion1982 there is one abandoned disney park
Disney would have the law on their asses as soon as they found out. Plus, just because it's abandoned, doesn't mean security isn't on the prowl there.
There's already a CZcams channel that explores and talks about forgotten places.
Maria Stevenson what channel is it?
These guys would be bad criminals...
"Hey Officer, what is the best time to rob that convenient store?"
Thats A Great Point Made !+)
“Turn around put your hand behind your ba-“
this station was rediscovered back in 1989, by the ghostbusters then they were looking for the origin of ghost slime seeping up from under the streets...….
WINSTON!!!
My father worked for the MTA for over 20 years - There IS a way in. Every station has "escape tunnels" that lead to the street. You would need to find one of those. People pass them unknowingly every day. Find the "emergency escape exit", and you will have access to the station.
More like "We briefly rode past New York's abandoned train station"
Them: What abandoned, forgotten place should we go to next?
Me: My hopes and dreams
Bobthemonkeygut LOLOLOLOL you just made my day
Jon Snow's knowledge
Just...hilarious. thank you.
Just a heads up, they don't smuggle into anything. The whole ending is them riding a subway past it lol. Click bait.
Casually asks cop: “Yeah, so I’m just lookin’ for the entrance to a closed subway station, can you just point me to it please”? Cop replies: “Sure it’s down by those trees over there”
Is it just me or does the city hall station look like the same place as the ending of Fantastic beasts and where to find them
Iris S thank you. I'm not the only one
saaaaame. #potterheadsunite
Right??? RIGHT?!?!?! :D
Iris S I WAS ABOUT TO COMMENT THAT!!
Becaus thats the same place...
Who else thought they were going to jump off the train?
Luna Lex me
*thinks of divergent*
As tempting as it would be, they know getting back would be difficult. They're not gonna wait for the next train and try to jump on. That's a death wish, plus they'd get found out and be in trouble.
SPOILER
It's not illegal to ride the (6) around the loop to see City Hall Station. I've done it a million times with MTA personnel on board. It's fine.
And for the record, the CONDUCTOR does not drive the train.
That's the OPERATOR, or MOTORMAN.
The CONDUCTOR controls the doors and makes station announcements from the center of the train.
Rick Traveler Smith as a former conductor, we never recommend it, and you can get in trouble, because one superintendent and 5.0 can make it happen..., many people by accident wind up staying on the train, but at times they had us to clean out the trains...
There are events in the New York Transit Museum that allows people to visit the abandoned station
how would i get to those events?
@@angiee202 just wait and look at the events
Why not clean it up, and use it as a freaking tourist attraction? People travel all over the world to see old architecture, we’re obsessed with it as a species.
the thing is: there actually are tours to this station by the mta transit museum
Well if you think about people in 2018 we tend to love blowing up big meaningful structures and this station is right underneath the city hall.
Julian Cameraboi Ha' ha, Now that would involve being just a bit too naughty ?? ;) Don't do it :)
Yes, because there aren't ENOUGH tourist attractions (and tourists) all over New York. :-P
They were planning and working on it, but after 9/11 they cancelled the project because of its proximity to city hall.
This needs to be a series
Until they're arrested..
Guinea Pig Adventure World all they have to say is "were from buzzfeed" and authorities will most likely let them go wherever they want
They said "What abandoned or forgotten place should we go to next?" so it's obviously a series.
Or dead
Lynn Evans oooooh yess
This is legal, though.
back in the seventies and eighties if you rode the trains at like 1am the trains would usually be rerouted. you would travel through all these abandoned stations with the arches and beautiful tile work. amazing stuff.
You did break a law though, you can get tickets for going between trains.
Stop snitching
it's quite sad that such a beautiful place in abandoned
Terribly sad that it can't be used, I don't get the waste of places like this
Marli x They should open it to the public as like a museum spot or something at least..
Star Shine Put a heavy duty gate at the edge, (rod iron so it's not unsightly) so no one can get to the tracks, and you could even have events there, like weddings and charity galas. Can't you imagine a 20's themed party?

YES ALL THESE PLACES NEED VIDEOS! Buzzfeed FORGOTTEN videos!!!
When I worked for Transit Authority summer program, they took on tour which included the City Hall train stop. We were able to stay on train as the 6 train was getting ready to go back uptown. Like you mentioned there is large gap between train and old platform. It looked really nice
Guys if you want to see the city hall station and not act like children, join the Transit museum. they do tours a few times a year free! and legal
I like buzzfeed unsolved this is also seems really cool and I hope they post more
It seemed fake af "omg no your not making go there"
Connor M Wall maybe if it was Shane and Ryan in this series
Yeah not to mention they didn't do anything illegal knowing MTA would fine them because there are other urban explorers who've gotten in.
Correct. Staying on the 6 train while it loops around through the old station is completely legal. They even changed the announcements at Brooklyn Bridge (on the newer R-142(a) trains that have automated announcements) to say something like "This is the last downtown stop on this train. The next stop is Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall on the uptown side." It is the only line where the announcements at the last stop don't say "Everyone please leave the train." They used to say that, but the MTA responded to pressure and changed them.
Connor M Wall i
Great video . I wouldn't say smuggled is the right word though.. This little trick is well known by many New Yorkers, I even made a vlog about this at the end of the winter. The conductor generally doesnt' care if you stay on the train.. Now if you had hopped off the train and walked around the abandoned station yourself, THAT would have been interesting.
Here Be Barr the subway doors don't open at the stop in city hall
Nope, but it does run right through.
Here Be Barr i
You could get into serious trouble if you got caught by MTA authority.
I don't think the MTA cares if you sit on the train when it runs past City Hall Station.. but if you hang outside like that, I could see them getting pissed.
This whole video is just triggering for any rail fan
The person operating the train is called a Motorman or Train Operator, the conductor is the that opens and closes the doors.
Waiting for buzzfeed unsolved xdddd
You gonna be waitin' a week, booboo. lol
Only 4 days, actually.

did anybody find it weird that there was a man recording another man recording?

its not other man its a camera on a table

I wish I could see the old abandoned Gimbel's Station. I remember the store entry directly from the station with it's glazed double doors and wooden escalators just like the famed wooden escalators at nearby Macy's. These stairs brought you from the platform directly into the department store. No one talks about it.
I wish we still built things with such architectural and aesthetic standards, then this station wouldn't be such a rare gem. Maybe some day architecture like this will come back. For now, I hope they make use of the station somehow. It's a shame to see closed off.
Isn't that the train station that fantastic beasts and where to find them was filmed
It's not where it was filmed but I guess it's where the scene was set. Not sure about that either though...
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT I SAW IT AND I WAS LIKE OMG
i thought the exact same thing
Molly Campbell fantastic beasts was filmed in Liverpool in the U.K. But it was set in New York
1 min through and I thought the same lmao
I actually teared up when they finally saw the station. And the misic doesn't help either.
RIGHT! I read a comment like yours before watching and thought wow, its not that deep. I was sobbing by the time the video was over
When the subway was for rich people
Still is at least it don’t look like it
AWESOME You did it. CITY HALL. & I loved the music as the train went through and passed City Hall. Beautiful empty station.
This video is SO Buzzfeed. A seven minute build-up to some shaky shots in low light, and we already saw how it looked at the start of the video. :P
yeah
Especially since they never actually got off. There are several videos on youtube with people actually walking around there - with permission.
@Disney is the Devil Yet here you are, having stuck around to watch the video. That must make you super gay.
They probably googled it, read just stay in the 6, did it. And then they created the lengthy mediocre detective way to find it out again...
It's the awe and wonder that it still exists in all its beautiful glory...despite not being used or seen by the majority of the population for decades...
I was kinda hoping they'd hop off the train James Bond style and explore...Anyone else?
are there no sort of side walks next to the tracks? you could walk there technicly.
I actually expected it when he opened the door between cars and am slightly disappointed.
FrazJ I wanna jump off
That's illegal technically. But what they did is fine and people do it all the time.
Well if you're in the tunnel No there's no side walks and it's illegal to do that.
Better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Make more of these. This was great.
London uses to cover abandoned stations with walls and doors and called them staff only area.
I love that we're getting more video content from the new york office as opposed to just the LA one, NYC represent
Hey! A new Buzzfeed series we can all love! Buzzfeed Unzolved, Worth It, The Try Guys, and now this! :D It needs a name though.....
How about, "Buzzfeed Unseen" or "Not Quite Illegal"?
Or forgotten
unseen is cool because it ties in with unsolved. haha.
Trogdor Tibbles Forgotten is better, Unseen implies that nobody alive has seen some of these things even though many have, and often there will be many photos online.
I like Not Quite Illegal
Trogdor Tibbles it should be called forgotten
You guys are the best!!! Thanks for showing us the old City Hall Station.
Gosh what a beautiful place!, isn't it a shame that they don't organise tours, all that gorgeous artwork hidden away along with all that history 😪
Since you guys are NYC based, you guys should go to the abandoned Seaview Asylum in Staten Island :^). Staten Island is gross and it totally sucks but it's well worth the trip, this is the asylum that season 2 of AHS was based off of!
Soybean Wind did you just say a whole burrow is gross....
Soybean Wind yes they did and I completely agree being that I live there but seaview, amongst our other various abandoned places, are a gift
I love that place!
i just was in yesterday lol

That was really cool. Thanks for doing that. Yes, we didn't see a lot, but I like just knowing about these kind of things and the history and that I have the option of taking the loop at some point and seeing for myself.
"We'd gone to the station without breaking any law"
LITERALLY A SIGN SAYING:
*Riding or moving between cars is prohibited*
I was nervous about how this was going to go, but this was so respectful and courteous! I loved it!
It's not even smuggling, this is just a thing you can do if you have the knowledge. I was expecting them to try to get off the train to walk around the old city hall 👎
This City Hall Station was featured in 'Fantastic Beast's and Where to Find' Them. Its the last battle scene where they fight the Credence and arrest Grindleward. I pay attention to the backgrounds a lot.
Stephanie Lopez I was just thinking that!!
Stephanie Lopez THANK YOU, YOU KNEW IT TOO
omg now i remember!!
Stephanie Lopez I thought I was the only one thinking that
Tamie Shakespeare they might’ve used the actual station cuz I know London Underground uses closed stations in films
"I would assume the conductor would take it easy on this curve." The conductor does not move (drive) the train, the train operator moves the train.
Lies....the MTA knows lots about this station. Just a ruse to trespass.

Taoxlrgion1982 crying is not a bad thing tho?
As kids, me and my brothers discovered a concealed crevice that opened
into a cavernous abandoned train tunnel in Brooklyn. Although it' was 60 years ago, I still remember the fascination, and the excitement - believing we were the only ones who knew of it's secret existence. - Blessings
please tell us more! do you know if it’s well known or any pics of it?
I worked downtown for years very near City Hall and used to walk over the glass blocks in the sidewalk over the station. That was before 9/11 and before all the barricades around City Hall. There are quite a few abandoned stations especially on the old IRT line. There are still even tunnels from the old pneumatic subway they experimented with (great-great grandfather of the hyperloop idea). I spent a lot of time researching the city when I was at Columbia and had access to the archives. There are so many interesting places around the city that no one knows about. And, a lot of secret places that very few people know about. Some of the most interesting places are the old speakeasys all over Manhattan and the lengths people would go to access them. One in particular that I thought was funny was across the street from where I lived downtown that had a tunnel from the police station to the speakeasy on the other side of the street. And, don't even get me started on Chinatown. There's a whole city under there.
go under the station that goes to the Waldorf Astoria from Grand Central. FDR used it during his Presidency. there is his Train that is still parked.
Kristyanna Virgona they already did in another video (not these guys, but other buzzfeed employees)

Lora Moka czcams.com/video/bOt0KkMv9tg/video.html
This could really become an awesome series!
Hobbesfield same thing I was thinking!
Hobbesfield yeah this was actually a very cool idea!
Hobbesfield It's already a thing within the CZcams community. It's called urban exploration. A lot of these abandoned places are on private property. Some of my favorite channels are The Proper People. This is Dan Bell. and Exploring with Josh.
+rooney and peter miss appa thanks dude, gonna check them out!
Also, there are some YTbers that go into the really private places (Ie Disney abandoned places) and take videos for 30-45 minutes. Its uber good and kinda hard to find for newbies (like me).
You guys rock🤘the music brought a 😢to my 👀s thank you for sharing guys😊😃😆👍👍.Happy new year🎉🎊.
Actually it's common knowledge that you can stay on the train through the City Hall roundabout. I did this with my friend a few years ago. The MTA doesn't seem to really care if you want to stay on. The thing is you have to look fast at the sights. It's not that well lit. A cool thing to do though if abandoned places intrigue you.
BuzzFeed NY is starting to surpass BuzzFeed LA
Zuhal Saljooki no it's not
theguymike yes it is lol
Absolutely NOT!!!
This could actually be a very good series... like Buzzfeed Unsolved type good.
This was wonderful! Thank you for sharing it!
If you want to visit City Hall Station you can schedule a tour via the MTA Transit Museum membership.
Oh Buy the MTA museum membership, its like $35 for students, then when you have the membership you buy a separate City Hall Station tour ticket which is $50 and only goes on sale 3 times per year, there might still be some tickets for a date between Sept-Dec on sale now. Expensive but if you really want to see it in person there you go
Thank you
Oh i

To everyone who's about to comment something related to buzzfeed unsolved, please remember that Shane and Ryan aren't the only people in Buzzfeed. Also, this is an entirely different concept from buzzfeed unsolved. People work hard to make these videos, let's take time to actually appreciate these videos for what they are, and not for what they're not.
Agree 100%
I like the historical hidden gem aspect of this video. I hope there's more to come.

I only have myself to blame.
I have been amazed how many things with real historical value are just left to fall into decay and disrepair. Thanks for this video.
A new series called "forgotten" would be awesome!
YES!
I did this by accident last month. The Transit Museum also offers tours.
These places should be open to public, we miss a whole amazing world beneath our feet of a time long gone.
Seriously would you prefer the old station or the new one
Wow! That was amazing! I'm from NYC and I never knew about that loop. Gorgeous.
I've done this a bunch of times. It's very cool. If anyone else decides to do this (perfectly allowed, btw), I'd recommend going during the day when there is sunlight streaming through the glass ceiling. Otherwise it will be very dark and hard to see.
+Jacob Carlson Um... I guess in the sense of legality, yes, but they opened the door which says not to, and they have a rule that says you cannot be on the train past the last stop, so, no, this is not "perfectly allowed"... XD
Oh well sounds fun
So as the train is going around are they going slow enough to jump off to explore around I guess the only bad thing about it is you have no way of getting back out unless you wait for the train to leave and then follow the track or tunnel to the next open area... but I guess if you try that you might get arrested
Jolly Goodbeard yeaa you can but like if you really wanna do it and you are willing to break some laws for it just do some research on Instagram and find an nyc urban explorer thats willing to take you there

This is neat! I have frequently wondered about what station the uptown 6 train arrives from seeing that the Bklyn Bridge - City Hall station represents the start of that line. This video clarifies that.
Now about the track switch between the D & F trains heading downtown from 47th Street - Rockefeller Center....a definite headscratcher for me everyday.

They also didn't care about the homeless person also sleeping in car 1 with us as we made the loop. Great little know secret about the 6. Great video, thank you!

You guys realize the New York Transit Museum offers tours of the City Hall station right? All you had to do was pay $50 bucks to walk in it. You can't film though lol
lmao
James Gold I accidently saw the city hall subway station when I went through the loop. I looked it up and you have to be a member of the museum.

Back when I was in grad school-1982 - 1984-I did what you did. I wasn’t planning on seeing the closed station, but I rode figuring that the train had to turn around and head back north. It was pretty cool. Only later, I discovered that it was not a public stop and no way to access it from City Hall Park.
Go to the Central Terminal in Buffalo, New York. I heard there's amazing history there and maybe even some ghosts!
KRISmas Eve it's so cool there
I love how they played the dramatic music like they just discovered the lost city of Atlantis. lol.
