  • Sound Transit's highly anticipated 2 Line is officially up and running. It brings light rail to the east side for the first time, connecting passengers to stations throughout Bellevue and Redmond.
"This is literally decades in the coming. So now I have easy ways to connect to Redmond without traffic," said Hanoch Yeung, who was one of hundreds of people who made their way to the Bellevue Downtown Station.
It's one of eight stations located throughout Bellevue and Redmond, as part of Sound Transit's 2 Line. It’s finally opening after voters approved the east link extension in 2008 and breaking ground in 2016.

Once they get the second downtown tunnel they could probably have a line that goes from Edmonds down to SeaTac via Aurora

as a person who live around this area for 15 year. I don't feel we need this for this region. 1. Short distance which only covers 15 mins drive. 2. Too many stops. What we need is long distance train with less stop but enough parking for p n d kind system. I am also living in kirkland area. I have a hybrid car. I never care about gas. What I care is the expensive and limited parking in downtown area. We need a train can quickly take me to downtown and airport. That is all.
