- For the first time, people who live and work in east King County will have access to light rail service. Sound Transit just announced Thursday the new 2 Line will open April 27 and will eventually connect over I-90 to Seattle.
It’s a project years in the making, and transit officials say it's about improving mobility and access for everyone who lives on the East Side.
City and county leaders unveiled the 2 line will include eight stops between South Bellevue and Redmond with trains every 10 minutes during operating hours.
It's currently running simulated service before the grand opening, when they expect about 6,000 daily riders.

Nice! Can't wait!
I expected rude nay sayers on the comments section . wasn’t disappointed. Trains are all over Europe and very efficient.
This is nice, it really sucks that it is only running 10 minute headways
Very nice!❤
♪♪ We're gonna take the two line, baby
There's nothing stopping us 'cause we're cutting in line ♪♪
Yay ❤
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Wait you are you are going to take down dams where are you going to get the the electricity to run the line?😅
A day late and a billions dollars short 😅
They messed up the concrete on one station and had to redo the entire thing. So typical for King County: planning by out-of-touch “leaders” who’ve never taken public transportation themselves.
@@auntihoohaI’m sorry, do you somehow know how to poor concrete better because you ride the bus. Contractors make mistakes on every project.
Great to have “Carbon Free Transit” but DO NOT FORGET to have “CRIME FREE TRANSIT”!
RIP Bellevue and your clean streets. LOL!
Why are you so pessimistic
You are a child
🫣
I rode similar trains in Sydney Australia. A pair of armed cops just about everywhere...very safe ...no problems. Let's see what the woke tools in charge do here.....
Police presence will surely be lower.
BTW, how is this not GROSSLY more expensive than a dedicated bus service. Good things transit is making a profit.
Oops, i meant losing $100s of MM each year…
Opens April 27th but Sound Transit promises the permanent urine smell will be baked on in no later than April 28th.
and not a day later
Light rail has some messed up people on it, but no urine smell. You'd know that if you ever rode one, but being an entitled suburban Republican, you know zero but still yap.
I don't think that's urine you're smelling on light rail trains, I think it's body odor.
Why are you so pessimistic?
It will be a moving Drug Zombie shelter. Yeah I won a ride with a bunch of Drug Zombies.
Seattle has arts and culture left? About time the sheltered Eastside gets to be exposed to the mess of Seattle they helped create by booting their homeless and addicts across the lake. Bellevue cops may actually be serious about security though.
You are a child
Rents will rise at the stations. Gentrification at its finest, even though Bellevue is pretty safe already...
I think it will be a HUGE disappointment. It will help Microsoft workers, but that’s about it.
Um, most on the east side drive! What you'll get, is more homeless.
“Most of the east side drive” wow if only some new infrastructure was just built that would allow people to not have to drive
Nice idea sound transit, do you wish that you could bring those trains over there anyway and possibly let the homeless come into your city and do drugs and put up homeless encampments all along that stretch between Redmond and Bellevue?
