What if you were FORCED into being historical in Hearts of Iron 4? What if you played the Great War Redux mod in HOI4 as the Russia, and could only use the actual historical designs, presets and battleplans?

I've been on a HOI4 binge of using only the historical presets given by Paradox, alongside accurate, historical division organization. Can I do the same as the Russians in the wonderful WW1 mod Great War Redux, and defeat the Central Powers without being destroyed by a certain... red government form?

The addition of Historical presets into Hearts of Iron IV was an awesome thing for massive history nerds like myself. Now, I play REALLY historically, using only the stupid tanks and planes that happened in real life! I'm aiming to do this with EVERY country in the game (or at least every major) so let me know a good suggestion down in the comments for more countries to play!

Ukraine is quite historical, the Skoropadsky coup (Hetmanate) on April 29, 1918, which proclaimed the Ukrainian State. Then the anti-Hetman uprising on December 14, 1918 restored democracy led by the Directory. The borders used in the game are the real borders of the Ukrainian State.

It's a Coup of a Tatar Hetmanate, there is no Ukraine here.
@@Aldrahill Dude, this is not even the tip of the iceberg that happened in Ukraine during the Civil War. Firstly, there were Ukrainian nationalists, 2 different factions, and secondly, the White Guards, 3, if I'm not mistaken, different factions, we must also add to this the local Communists and the RSDLP(b), and before, if I'm not mistaken, 1919, they also acted separately. Plus, Makhno's anarchists, and several hundred more gangs numbering up to 1,000 people without a definite political position. Ukraine and Southern Russia in the Civil War is a cluster truck
@@Scorchluck Aye it was basically a cluster truck civil war between like a billion minor and majorly dominant factions within Ukraine, and then a bunch outside of such. Not to mention the communists fought one another because everyone says the other party is doing 'communism wrong'.

Theres one old, but very good mod- 1933, its ULTRA historical in techs and battalions (theres like a hundred artillery techs and same stuff with other branches). Id reccomend it for a historic video

From what I remember france actually occupied some german territory after ww1 to use as hostage so germany would keep paying reparations. As for Turkey, after ww1 it was initially almost completely occupied by entente powers, but the Ataturk fought them and they withdrew
I was suprised when you somehow lose to the germans as russia . because all you have to do is hold and build up equipment then once you have enough equipment you encircle east prussia then rush berlin then rush austria hungary. then after you shift your focus to the ottoman empire(hold the caucuses frontline dont attack) you naval invade them in istanbul and near ankara and there you have it a perfect run.
That would have definitely been smarter!
he pretty much repeated mistake every general did in ww1. It was extremely beneficial to be defensive in that war and almost never be an attacking side.

@@Kaadjoisanavaliwithtoomuchtime man, you just reminded me of 12 battles of Isonzo, Italian front more than any else was the full on insanity of trying to overcome the enemy and failure after faulyre to do so.
If you plan on doing the 'stolen equipment only' run I suggested before I recomend that for balance purpose make it so you can only stole once from a nation (steal once from the uk, once from france, etc).
Ohhh that’s be impossible to control though! How to stop stealing from other nations?!
@@Aldrahill just do 1 'steal blueprints' operation by nation. I never did it so I don't know exactly how it works. Also if a nations breaks away either in a civil war or because they became independent you'll be allowed to steal from those as well

This was a fun watch, I did a semester on Russia 1910-1941 in school, so it was fun seeing the events pop up and knowing what was happening

The regular has much more focuses for Russia
There is also much more research options, with them connecting to vanilla tech tree, so you can play through ww2 after

You stayed on military governor for the entire game. Would've had more equipment if you changed it to local police force!

You should try to replicate the Czechoslovak legion train boogaloo to Vladivostok, I imagine that would be quite the challenge being at war with both factions and trying to reach Vladi.

That Peace Deal in Eastern Europe was relatively accurate, Ukraine became independent as the Ukrainian People's Republic, and Lviv broke away from Austria to become the West Ukrainian People's Republic. Belarus existed as well, but only for a month.

A “corp” is a larger army unit, in this age typically made by combining infantry and cavalry divisions with heavier artillery ;)
