I love HOI4, but it really struggles to portray things properly sometimes, like for example, the Soviet Unino. Is it really that strong? Maybe it won't be so strong if we take away its ability to pick any national focuses or research :P What do you think, can I beat Germany and survive?

@Aldrahill BTW once I tried same challenge but with less harsh conditions - I allowed myself to do research, and only "useless" foreing policy focuses/that one from 5 year plan which increases consumer goods, and used template of infantry only- so needed only guns for it)
And I picked all worst decisions in purges - so had only trash generals, and lacked them too and with all the worst debuffs.
And all my "tactic" was to autoplan so German bullets ended earlier then mine soldiers

Ai mostly stopped attacking you because of all the forts, if the AI sees too many forts it just doesn’t try anymore.
And it was basically the only way I could’ve survived :P

The Japan thing happens because denmark declared war on germany and japan had a guaranty on germany so japan was dragged into the war

Pretty sure the Japan thing happens when Italy goes into civil war which caused fascist Italy to trigger tripartite pact with Japan. I don’t know why it pulls them into war with the Soviets when the Soviets are defending but I’ve seen it happen quite a few times.

When you use your strat bombers you specify railroads, how do you do that? Is there a way to do it that i dont know?
There's a little button at the top when selecting strat bombing for the planes, that if you click, it opens up a selection window to select what to prioritize for bombing :)

@@Aldrahill fair enough but licenses have their own draw back because isn't it the further in tech the more it cost extra to produce? And with no production research it'd be a harsh trade off

put it on your garrison or just don't bother at all

I'm surprised you didn't use the tanks created by the soviet-german tank treaty (or whatever its called) they aren't great templates but boosting them with motor inf and arty would work at least early on

Poland stole Czechoslovakian land while Germany was invading in 1938. The land the Soviets took in 1939 was previously part of Belarus and the Soviets invaded after the Polish government fled.

Lend Lease also didn't save the USSR imports were like 5% of the USSRs truck production iirc

@@Aldrahill 1. The Soviets only received ~20% of the aid given by the US, ~60% of it went to Britain.
2. Lend-lease did not arrive in significant numbers until 1943 and 44, and even among peak imports in things like aluminum it never made up more than ~30% of the amount that the Soviets had.
