I wish news organizations would stop with the 'opinion' style news shows. I have no interest in a news 'personalities' political or social views. I don't want them pushing a particular ideology. I don't want to know about their personal lives. Just report the news in an unbiased a manner as possible.

I guess worrying about what other whites think about his relationship, thus being redneck about it. He wears a t-shirt stating what he thinks should happen to racist. I don't think most people care.

I think we've all worked with people like Don Lemon, ignored and tolerated by senior management until some kind of public crisis occurs forcing their termination. Great analysis, Dr. G, as always. Love the puns.
Yeah I knew a guy at work like this - god it was awful. The worst part was my boss was not very intelligent and saw the appearance of competence and not actual competence. So many times she would give this guy increased responsibility that he could not handle and his ego would not allow him to acknowledge his own mistakes so he could not learn from them.
Also my boss thought the word TOWER was TOWEL im not even kidding.

When I heard the news of the termination, my late Mom's voice reminded me of a critical lesson she tried to teach: Don't get too big for your britches. I was so sorry to witness his downward trajectory over the years.

It’s usually people who are chasing fame and fortune who get into those positions. They were never humble to begin with. Humble people are usually serving others and stay behind the scenes propping others up.

I was looking for this comment. My cousin used to work with Don about 20 years ago. She said he was the type of gay man that because he was gay, he felt like he was one of the girls and thus could say whatever to them. Ones that gave it back were deemed "homophobic". He also would minimize other people to get ahead. Because he knew how to schmooze and was good at his job, higher ups were more willing to keep him around.
He didn't know what side he wanted to be on, but had to be what he was black

This is what happens when someone’s bad behaviour is allowed to go unchecked due to perceived victim mentality I.e. because he’s black (although is not even fully black) and gay. So he figured he could do whatever he wanted. He was intolerable to watch.

Normally I would sleep for at least further 3 hours, but the additional pain in both legs I suffer from for several weeks now made me stay up again early. I just caught Dr. Grande's play on words with "don't aid the lemon." You have to be on the alert for his stealthy humor. He's so straight-laced when delivering it. Sometimes the subtle jokes can go right over your head and then you stop and say to yourself....."wait a minute." lol 🤣

I enjoy Dr. Grande’s many puns and “plays on words” even if it takes me a minute or so to “get” them. But THIS pun?

Secondly, he was using the alternate meaning of the word "lemon" when he said "When life gives you lemons, it's best to make lemonade and not to aid the lemon." The alternate meaning of "lemon" is something that is either defective, worthless, not of its purported value, or something unwanted. This is humorous because Dr. Grande used the last name of Don Lemon to carry out his pun at the very end of the video. It was Dr. Grande's subtly humorous way of making a point about what Don Lemon's recent value at CNN was. There were many components that went into such a "simple" statement. lol
Honestly, you are describing so many prominent people with this description of Don Lemon. Narcissistic behaviors and characteristics are rewarded in our culture depending on how valuable they are perceived to be by a particular audience. This characterization of a set of traits that you've described are now a generic description of visible individuals which cuts across all sectors of our society. He is no different than many so called "successful people" in other positions of influence. You've helped me to gain some insight and think about a great way of characterizing this current cultural climate in general: The Age of Narcissism. The only thing that varies is perception. Who is in and who is out at the moment based on who benefits and whose perception and views matter at the moment is the only difference I see. Dr. Grande, Yes, Don had some Diva-like behavior. But I have seen great restraint from him for somebody is his situation. Fox, was doing Opinion Journalism so he was following the norm. He was on live TV a lot so of course, anyone is going to say dumb things that cannot be taken back.
His being raised in a household of Women makes sense regarding his relationship with women. Since women were authority, for him, growing up, he probably developed and inferiority complex to women and certainly insecurities. He was dismissive, mostly. And at worst he spoke to them as a man might speak, privately, to other men. His resistance to authority is manifest in his dismissivness of women.
On, the whole, Lemon showed a lot of restraint. I hope I never have to do live TV for hours everyday. Do you think you could do it without misspeaking?
