- My friend Simon sent me a photo of a buddha he stumbled upon while riding his bicycle. I went to find it. His photo didn't do it justice. Be prepared to have your mind blown.

A special place indeed! In the beginning of your drive you would have gone past the old "Freedom Hill" post exchange; quarry now. You were also close to the old Camp Reasoner, 1st Marine Recon. They protected Da Nang airport from the west. I was up there in 2018 and have a pic of the smaller Buddha from above. Back in the day I drove from Camp Viking [aka Red Beach] , down hwy 1 south, then turn right then go up to where you were from the north, and then down to Freedom Hill. I retraced that route in 2018. WAY WAY different from 50 years ago! Glad you got up there, once again Da Nang is an amazing city, but it can be dangerous; once it grabs you,.. you are done and can never escape....

Amazing! You have to go there periodically to follow the progress. Curious to see how long it takes to finish and the final size. Is the "100 Meter" in the title supposed to be the size? If so, that is huge. I also really liked that temple or whatever it is that you visited by it.
100 meters is my guess at the size. You can see tiny workers at the base. Assume they are 5 feet tall.
