Unarmed security is much harder work than most people give it credit for and few people understand that lots of places want security but don't want to give them the tools or authority to do the job. You've spent quite a bit of money on the best gear you are allowed to carry to do the job, that in itself shows lots of dedication and is admirable. If i might give you a bit of constructive criticism... If you are married to the idea of having your cuffs on your back you may want to try going to a cuff strap instead of the pouches you have. A good friend of mine fell off a fence onto a set of cuffs on his back and went out on permanent disability. It isn’t just a theory, that happens to people all the time with back mounted pouches. A strap would set the cuffs themselves under your belt and so if you fall on them your butt takes the brunt of it, bruising your soft fleshy parts instead of slipping your disks or cracking a vertebra. Plus the straps are relatively cheap. Nice video and very well thought out gear. Stay safe out there!
He could also just move the pouches to the side or front usually your suppose to have the back clear like he said so if you fall you won't break any bones
That is why I always carry concealed [when legal] when its unarmed. If I ever get caught, I will just say, this is for personal protection, not for the job. Indiana has really laxed gun laws when it comes to carrying. If you have your permit a sign on the door [unless a school, court or federal building] is more of a guideline and not enforceable by law in Indiana. All they can do is ask you to leave.

One security company I worked for had an interesting policy for dealing with clients like that. "Weapons" that could be carried by the law abiding general public (here in CA, specifically taser and pepper spray) always had to be allowed, otherwise there would be a 30% risk surcharge on the bill. That was triggered only once or twice, but we always had steady work. The guy who took care of sales made clear to customers that we were in business to take care of stuff they didn't want to.
with all the keepers you wear, you can make a belt out of them alone. you're unarmed, no need to make sure your belt is held up. just put 2 in the back and one on each side of the buckle
I've been in the security industry. for going on fifteen years I enjoy my job very much, I agree with free field training and highly recommend you get the ASP double cuff pouch and move it up front if you do not and you where to fall on your back or get into car accident your career is finished also 5.11 has a holder for the ATAC.

Just a bit of constructive criticism. You don't carry a firearm, baton or CEW. There's not enough weight on your duty belt to warrant more than 4 keepers and the belt makes you look buffy and less likely to be taken seriously. Speaking from experience, it's more effective when unarmed to make people wonder what you are carrying than to allow them to see what you actually have. The first level of the Force Continuum is your professional appearance and two pairs of cuffs are unwieldy and unnecessary. Keep one pair of cuffs, move them to your front and purchase some zip ties or flex cuffs if you must have extra restraints. Then invest $50 in a pair of LAPG Atlas tactical trousers with STS. They come with tons of pockets for everything currently on your duty belt and more, and the cargo pockets have pull zippers and don't bulk out much even when your pockets are full. Get a webbed riggers belt and retire the Uncle Mike's until you work armed details.
Unarmed security in the U.S is equal to open the door of a Church, and then scream a blasphemy. Frankly I do not understand why in the nation of weapons exist unarmed security jobs. I can understand in Europe, but in the U.S. where basically everyone can carry/conceal a gun, well...
You'd be surprised how many places don't want an armed presence so much as just a uniformed presence. I honestly don't get it either, but that's how it is in some places.
Loose one set of cuffs. If you are working unarmed security chances are you’re not going to have a need to restrain people. And if you do you won’t be doing it that often and your not going to have to handcuff more than one person. Next I would take the cuffs that you do keep and put them up where the glove pouch is for ease of access as well as comfort and ensuring that you won’t hurt yourself. You said it yourself, ASP cuffs are bulky and that does not look comfortable where you have them now. As for the gloves, I would take that glove pouch and put it where your cuffs are or just completely get rid of the pouch and throw the gloves in your back pocket. All of these things will help to keep your Sam Browne open as well as make life a little more comfortable. You’ve got all the right gear, just have to make sure it’s in the right spot for you.
I work unarmed security post and I always carry a flashlight on me I found that most flashlights fit almost perfectly in a baton holster because alot of them are the same diameter of a baton

If you use those cuffs to detain someone until the cops arrive, don't expect to get your cuffs back. They'll disappear into the system and never be seen again.
In my glove pouch on the top I hold three pairs of gloves I rolled them up that way they're easier to pull out and roll and you have a pair one pair for me one pair for my partner and one pair in case we lose a pair always carry multiples like your duty flashlight and go ahead and put a pin flashlight somewhere but your notepad or whatever in a pocket. But on the bottom of my double glove case I carry 70 ft of caution tape that way when we have accidents on our property like pipe burst I can square off the area or if we have things that need marked I can cut off about a foot and tie a bow to let maintenance know look at this patch of wall or whatever so just yellow tape and maybe other backup felt flashlight sometimes when the power goes off during a storm or whatever you or the guy they're going to look to for a flashlight and it's just easier when I can hand someone a flashlight and keep mine so they can go to the bathroom without me. Looking sharp though
The expense of being armed does not out weigh the pay. Also some companies want Semi armed pepper spray baton taser. And it pays as much as armed. With out the expensive training ever six months as well as cost of ammo and other fire arms up keep.
your handcuffs should not be placed there. you have plenty of room on your belt. get 1 double cuff case and put it as far front on your belt as you can. why? 1) if your pushed back you will be hurt including the possibility of permanent injury. 2) officer studies show that having cuffs in the front is superior and safer based on the normal cuffing positions. having them in the rear will force your to reach back, opening yourself up for assault.
Makes plenty of sense double cuff cases are bulky and can get caught up on things. What if he's been carrying his cuffs there for years gets into a scrap and forgets that he moved them in that split second it takes to regather that they were moved the suspect throws and elbow knocking him down now the fight begins? What if he gets into a pursuit and falls for some reason since both cuffs were in the same case when he faslls he loses both cuffs now what? What if this happens, what if that happens. What works for one may not work for everyone dude.

the flashlight I use is the coast hp7r the clip it uses it awesome. I have been in struggles and the flashlight stays put. I got mine from neeves uniforms here in Colorado springs.
Cinema Warrior no what I mean is that you have your bows facing inwards. Which makes you have to adjust the cuffs after pulling them out before securing them on a person. Makes it harder when your fighting them
I have a question about your setup - what's the point of carrying handcuffs if you don't have a way to subdue your sbj? I mean, if you had OC, you could at least subdue him in some sort of minimalistic way, as to be able to apply handcuffs. If you had a baton, same thing. Taser, same thing. But having no way to subdue the guy, how are you going to apply handcuffs?!
Victor Gradinaru well first, I'm not obligated to effect an arrest. At an unarmed capacity, I have to pick my battles carefully, and in my years in this line of work, I feel I've developed a sixth sense about who I can and can't deal with on my own. If I feel it's something I can't deal with myself there are other guards and off duty cops close by my post who can be called to help me out.

wrong, you do not have authority to detain. Security is only allowed to observe and report, and be a good witness and testify in court. The only exception to the rule is loss prevention who operates under "shop keepers privilege" and can detain and hold the offender in their detention office until police arrive. Some companies allow their security officers to carry cuffs, but that is because an officer might have several suspects and ask you to click one or barrow yours.
I thought of that too but since I'm a but rotund they don't feel comfortable carrying them near my waist area. When I lose weight I may switch and use those little strap deals instead.

If I was you I would put you handcuff closer to the front and out of the back because if you fall you can hur your back

those aren't good cuffs. they bend and if your not paying attention you will think they are cuffed and they will get loose.

theres always a "what if" scenario man, if you think what ifs all day nothing would be any good if you get what I mean.

wrong, you do not have authority to detain. Security is only allowed to observe and report, and be a good witness and testify in court. The only exception to the rule is loss prevention who operates under "shop keepers privilege" and can detain and hold the offender in their detention office until police arrive. Some companies allow their security officers to carry cuffs, but that is because an officer might have several suspects and ask you to click one or barrow yours.

I thought of that too but since I'm a but rotund they don't feel comfortable carrying them near my waist area. When I lose weight I may switch and use those little strap deals instead.
