Thank you. I'm Allan Tépper, the guy who reviewed it for ProVideo Coalition magazine. I'm glad we made the same guesstimate regarding the maximum gain, and I'm even gladder that it did so well with the SM7B, since I didn't have one handy to test.
does the irig supply power through the phone's usb or does it always use its replaceable battery? does it work without batteries when you connect usb only?
What a solid little portable audio interface. Big of that much and clean gain :D As always, a good review!
Keep up the great work bandrew!
Amazing video as always!!
Number dials ! YEAH !!! :D you sir did make a good point there ! Keep up the good work :D
Great review of a great product, I own this and love it.. great little preamp, especially if you film on the go, its also a super simple and handy usb audio interface.. Love it.
Looks like this has some ups and downs but does not seem too bad. Thank you very much for the review.
Thank you for the video!
Thank you dear friend for such a deep review of portable hardware!
I'm really looking for a portable audio device to work at some other places outside my home and you just opened a whole new world to me! :)
As i have learned from your videos, X2U looks a bit too expensive and this thing is a best buy!
Thank you so much for really great! Finally somebody out of all the thousands of videos that explains thank you
Good am, do you know if it can be used with a iPhone 12 in GarageBand? I’m trying to record vocals in my car
Review the ART USB Dual Pre, just because I got it recently and had a pretty crummy experience with it, and watching you squirm with underwhelming products is the most entertaining thing.
0:42 my fav part of these videos😂
I've got the iRig Pro Duo with 2 XLR inputs and it's great! Especially going to mobile devices. My only complaint would be the proprietary output connector (to USB/Lightning/whatevs). However as a portable stand alone interface it's great!
Hi Guy...I've been looking at the iRig Pro Duo to upgrade the sound quality of videos I'm doing at home into my iPhone with my guitar and me singing along. Do you have any thoughts on using the Pro Duo as the interface for videos?
@Podcastage when plugged into the computer, do you still need the batteries or no? This seems like a perfect overall great mobile recording device to have regardless of needing batteries or not.
Quick question. What are YOUR favorite condenser & dynamic mics that you have tested thus far?
Thanks for ur video bro, Is this work with Android phones?
When you are showing the audio from your condenser into the iRig pre, did you need to resync the video footage? I'd like to use my phantom-powered condenser to record direct into FilmPro or to stream but I'm concerned about audio/video lag?
Thanks man
You're welcome.
does the irig supply power through the phone's usb or does it always use its replaceable battery? does it work without batteries when you connect usb only?
Would you recommend this for connecting a pre-mixed xlr audio feed to an ipad? or is there a better device for that?
Please, can a video be recorded with native camera app while using this? Will audio come from mic connected to iRig or from mic inside of the iPhone?
Thanks Bandrew for the review! This brought me to an interesting idea. The iRig Pre HD might be also used to connect an XLR microphone to a camera. One would simply have to connect the heaphone output of the iRig Pre HD with the mic input on the camera. Battery life might be a problem though... But I guess I will be trying this out. Thanks again!
Julian, IK sells a power cable for this interface, the iRig PowerBridge www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigpowerbridge/
Small update: It sadly did not really work as I hoped. If anybody is curious, I explain it in a bit more detail here: czcams.com/video/0GolXpCpES0/video.html
Bandrew, can you use this to place phone calls on the iPhone?
Im stuck between buying this or the Irig pro i/o not sure which would be worth my money more in the long run!
Can you make a VS between the Blue Nano and the Razer seiren X please?
hey, is it able to record into other apps, like social media / voice notes / even movies on your device? or only on the iRig app?
I'm gonna stick to using my scarlet solo with the camera lightning adaptor for my ipad, but I might pick this up later down the line
Can your ipad power the Scarlett and a condenser mic? I tried a big USB condenser once and my ipad said it wasdrawing too much power.
Ok so don’t hate me on this but could you explain simply what does latency round trip and output thing do exactly? Does that something have to do with the zero latency monitoring?
Hi - I want to use my ATR 2100 microphone for my cell phone videos, and I think the iRig will help me do this. Correct? Problem: the iRig is out of stock on amazon (maybe covid?) sooooo, is there another product I can substitute?
Hey buddy, I really like the way you describe the products. I have seen almost all of your video. I like singing and I want to choose one condenser microphone under 50$ to 60$. And one audio interface . After watching all. I am so confused. Please suggest me a better option and only option. So I might not get confuse. I trust you
Can you connect a XLR output of a mixer to the irig xlr? Or the irig pro io can do this?
please, make another series of tops :(
Hey bandrew can you make a video on the Fifine k670 usb mic
I love you man
I have one that just stopped working a few days ago. I have guitar center warranty, but will just get another, bc it is awesome when working. Much better than blue icicle.
For usb mics, I use the the blue rasberry and LOVE IT. supports iOS and android and has amazing sound, which allows me to record videos without any audio editing. For anyone interested in a good mic for podcasting or whatever.
Can u show the different between irig pre and irig pre HD? What is the different
Shotgun! Max Gain for the name of my new PI Novel's lead character.
He used to be rookie cop....but when he challenged the system, they forced his silence.
Now he's out there, *Seeking.....Max Gain!!*
Hi can you suggest a good mic for gaming channel and voice over , im willing to pay $60 or less
I was about to buy snowball ice but in every video you've uploaded there are some people saying blue snowball is bad.
Hi..
Can I record a video song live with this for better sound than my s10+?as I record music live and then add movie to it yes?
can i record this to voice note.. without iRig app?
Could you review the MXL 440/441
But can you shoot video with it on the iPhone?
Can you use this with a cloud lifter?
Okay so what I’m trying to understand is if you can connect this advice to both your iPhone/iPad along with your microphone & studio headphones. That’s not coming clear to me as much
Please review the Rockville Rcm02 mic
1:32 Excellent performance, my fav part in this video😂
Irig pre 2
I use this device daily for streaming with my Samsung smartphone. I have a problem with fast-discharging AA batteries. Can I power this device with a 3.7V Lithium Ion battery instead of the original 3V battery?
Is a 3.4V DC lifepo4 battery suitable for this?
I really have no idea about that. I would recommend contacting iRig customer support to talk to one of their technical staff to determine if that would be a possibility because I would just be guessing.
Can anyone tell me if this will work on an iPhone without a 3.5mm jack on FaceTime, Skype, or any other VOIP program? Lighting mics such as the Shure Motiv line DO NOT work for these applications.
Are there any newer similar devices to this?
Can I run this with a dynamic mic (no phantom power) without batteries? Or, phrasing it differently. Are the batteries only essential for it to work with Phantom Power?
Yeah you are correct sir
Also can it only record to your device? Or can you also like use it for facebook live and stuff?
Yes, you can use it for facebook live, it also works with obs/xsplit and you can monitor your audio directly or feed your computers audio out to the headphone out on the pre hd, its an amazing and very capable little audio interface, works on pc/mac/ios flawlessly and has relatively low self noise for what you are getting.. Hope that helps.. It basically does what a scarlet 2i2 does, but its only one mic pre...
Hey! Will you be reviewing the Line 6 UX2 ever? :)
Yo i swear i was going to ask him this question, i heard it is great for streaming, hope he does!
Could you make a comparison between this device, the most economic irig and the saramonic model?
H.R. no longer allows me to say the word "saramonic"
They're also angry with the new mineral-rights contract I negotiated for the boss's house. Guess I should have told him first. Christ, the bureaucracy! Can't do anything 'round here!
Can i connect this to amplifier
can i use this for mic amp of guitar r base ?
I have never had so much issues than I have with the IRig Pre Hd since I bought it, 3 yrs ago. It just randomly stops lighting up/working, even with new batteries and the connections are as usual.
@2:10 They designed the unit with a velcro mounting strap (+1) but located the velcro mounting slit on the battery cover door (-1)? SMH
Bandrew, what happened to your throws??
compare please Neumann TLM 103 vs RODE NT1000
Great vid!!! But I still dont know what it do!
Try it with an OTG on Android maybe ?
Hey man, I'm looking really hard at the iRig Pro Duo (the two-output version) and the Focusrite 2i4. In your opinion, is the 2i4 much better than the Pre HD? I'm just wondering because I'd really like to also be able to bring my interface without buying another one. In sound quality, both for monitoring and recording, how does the Pre HD compare to the 2i4?
Zoom H-series portable pre-amps are supposed to be like Focusrite Quality, but portable. And you record directly to it, not phone or computer HD
There's professional Voiceover guy on CZcams that demos his setup, and he loves how he can rig the portable interface directly onto his mic stand. Basically he can carry his mic & recording equipment to anywhere in the house just by lifting the mic stand
It looked impressively convenient
I use pre hd with smule , how can i use this to video and record voice while singing in youtube karaoke can someone help me pls
Alssooo, what's the difference between the digital and the analog version? I'm new to this stuff. Also also, does it work for android devices?
Provideocoalition says this device does work on some Android phones but you should test to make sure.
Hi, I just tried L'Iring Pre Hd with shure sm58 microphone, samsung galaxy s9 + android phone and smule app. I noticed 2 things:
- With Direct Monitoring in headphones connected to the device, obviously I have no effect on the voice, unless you turn up the volume of the feedback from the App, but in this case the effect comes back to me with Latency.
- After registering, there is a latency between 150 and 200 ms (which I can still correct from the App).
Do you have any advice for me? Thanks a lot in advance.
When I record my voice on iphone in garageband it is also not perfect ,I don’t know which item I should change ,the mic or the audio interface
it can be use for android phone for live youtube video ?
Yes
This may be a really silly question but, looking to do Facebook live sessions running my pre-mixed quarter-inch line out to my 2018 Macbook Pro.... wondering if I hook my quarter-inch to XLR if i could use this as a way to connect my Bose M1 L1 pre mixed simple Line out to Logic Pro.... Anyone?
The boxes are slowly fighting back from being thrown all this time.

do the roland vt3
No noise reduction?
Will this work on Android
Guess what, you can actually do another segment of mics review. It is those video boom mics or journalist mic.
This thing is essential for a mix minus.
this is dope. I was gonna shell out 150 for a Tascam dr 07 then I realise, wait I already have an I pad. so...…..
can you please review a headset I Think You Should Review It Is The Sades Sa708
I just plug my dynamic mike in my iphone 6s directly and it works fine
The first iRig sounds like crap, but this one sounds gorgeous. Does the headphone output work aithout connecting it to an iPhone or Ipad ?
Rodrigo Belinchon i would like to know this also. Would like to Connect my xlr mic straight to my dslr. But i fear it needs to connect to iPhone to work at all
So can you power a dynamic mic too? Either with the phantom power off, or with a fethead on ?
Yes, you can use it with dynamic mics, if you use a fethead, just turn on phantom power, its a usb audio interface just like the 2i2. Hope that helps.
@@CryoftheProphet thank you man. Doesn't work for android devices though right?
According to their spec page, yes it does as a matter of fact, but you need the right cable interface, check this link..www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigprehd/index.php?pp=irigprehd-specs
Here is the cable you need for android, you would have to buy it separately.. www.ikmultimedia.com/shop/mycart.php
There's an iRig with the 3.5 mm headset interface
A versus with the Shure MVi would be appreciated Bandrew. Great review.
2 questions: Do you have to use batteries and can you use rechargeable batteries?
Thanks,
Mike
You can use rechargeable batteries if you have them.
Cry of the Prophet Thank you kindly.
I only use headset with microphone from Ez Voice because I love singing.
Plz review AKG c414 xii
When I get around to this mic family, you’re going to be so disappointed. Haha. I’m sorry.
I'm not really knowledgeable in the industry of music, if I'm using a pc, with an xlr mic and headphones, I can listen to pc playback [ example: video games ]?
also, if I have this thing plugged into my pc, do I have to use the batteries? I don't really want to play a game, and then charge the batteries every 3 hours...
any help on these questions much appreciated
That bass at 1:40... Someone bumping their music outside?
Glad to see something feel and look cheap yet be anything but!
IK Multimedia sells a power cable for this interface, so you can use plug-in power (and not rely on the batteries) www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigpowerbridge/
great ,you lost me after you threw the box away and i have ordered one just hope it plugs a plays lol
I'm early yes
1st!!
Numbered dial? Nice! Goes up to eleven? Nope =)
3rd
But do the numbers go to 11, if not then the numbers are just meaningless. LOL
Zoom u22 is cheaper and better
