    I am really impressed with this pre-amp..I am recording on my lumix S1H using the rode wireless go(with 3.5 to xlr sdapter) and it's amazing how crisp the voice sounds. Also thanks to this device there is not any noise/hiss anymore. Just wow! Waiting for my ntg2 to test it as well!!

    This review just sold me.. Just recorded my first solo podcast using the Zoom H6.. and the audio I got wasn’t a reflection of what I was monitoring from my headphones… This thing is getting copped right now.. Thank YOU bro!💪🏽

    I always wondered about this thing dude, and I swear when I was looking it buy it there was no good reviews. I make music, but didn’t have a laptop at the time so I figured go full fledge IOS. So my set up now is the Steinburg UR12 running directly to my phone powered with a regular power bank, then I got the Stellar X2 some decent headphones and all the other good wiring and stuff that comes with. I will say that I do prefer using my phone to record as opposed to a laptop now, it’s so much easier to use and runs way faster too. Some people really ain’t hip to the fact you can run a while studio set up on your phone. That’s why videos like this from a pro like you are necessary

    Hey dude, meant to leave a comment a week ago. Bought this to up the quality of my CZcams shorts and TikTok videos after watching your review. I had no idea anything like this existed. It did just that, much better audio, with the added bonus that now I can hold my xm8500 and don't have to worry about what to do with my hands! Thanks for the recommendation!

    Does your irig pre 2 make a short, loud beep when turned on the first time you connect it to your smartphone?

    Sir,
    I would like to use a single 3.7 volt battery instead of the two AA (1.5 + 1.5 = 3 volt) batteries provided with the iRig Pre 2. Will there be any problem?
    Please answer me.
    Thank you!

      The original pre version uses a single 9V battery which I’m happy with. I’m using rechargeable battery. But I wonder if there is a need to upgrade for the sound quality.

    Does this work for Skype, zoom, and specifically FaceTime on the iPhone?
    I got it to work for just using the camera/video mode on the iPhone 15. But I can’t get it to be selectable for FaceTime or zoom. It just automatically uses the built in iPhone mic for FaceTime , zoom etc.
    Please answer!

  • @dipuoprandentertainmentmos2254

    I am using an iPhone 12 and obviously have to use a converter for the Irig to connect to my phone and I don’t get audio from platforms like TikTok and facebook but I can hear myself. When I connect it to a phone that has an aux in put I do get audio and can use my mic as well, basically the unit works just fine but just not on my iPhone . What converter can I use so that I can get audio?

    Thank you for this video! I've tried both the iRig 2 and the iRig Pre 2 and for some reason I'm always hearing the hiss of the noise floor you demonstrated regardless of the level of gain I've dialed in. I wonder if you've experienced this and have found a solution. Thanks a lot!

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Are you using a Dynamic mic or a Condenser?
      If you are using a dynamic mic, the best option I have noticed to help the noise floor is putting a mic activator in the signal chain and enabling 48v on the irig.
      These devices are cool for the price, but the preamp struggles compared to interfaces that are a bit more expensive.

      @@AudioHotline I was actually trying to use an output from my audio interface via balanced 1/4" to XLR - Ideally I would've just kept the iRig 2 and go 1/4" - 1/4" but wanted to give this one a try.

    I use this device daily for streaming with my Samsung smartphone. I have a problem with fast-discharging AA batteries. Can I power this device with a 3.7V Lithium Ion battery instead of the original 3V battery?

    • @AudioHotline

      Hey! I actually use these dummy AA batteries for constant power on the iRig Pre2 (and a bunch of other stuff).
      This is the exact one I use:

      Hi - really great review bro. I want to use that dummy battery you point to cos I hate replacing batteries & don't much like rechargeables either.
      So, you said that's the exact product you use but I noticed that an Amazon reviewer said to be careful you order the one with the right # if battery dummies. But I'm confused cos the 2 dummy battery product is more expensive than the 4 dummy product. So , the 4 dummy battery product you point to works if you obviously use only 2 dummies?
      Probably a very stupid question but I'm very careful when it comes to electronics & power...

    How am I using this device with vintage (1966) EV 664 mic🎤 to my iPhone? Would the filmic pro app recognize this new external microphone?

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před rokem

      As long as I plug the iRig Pre 2 in before I open the Filmic Pro app on my phone, it automatically connects to it and works. Even if I plug it in with the App open, it eventually switches over, but doesn’t seem to like that process as much. In the audio settings it doesn’t show up as “iRig” or anything in the filmic pro app, just “iPhone Mic” but it works. The iRig pre 2 does a good job of just automatically connecting, I am even able to make phone calls with this all the time, works great.

    Thanks for the fun review of an interesting equipment. I was wondering if I can record 24 but audio with irig pre 2, given that the output is analogue through TRS/TRRS cable.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před rokem

      It’s kind of weird how it doesn’t state that anywhere in the manual or on their site… however, I am able to record with 24 bit 48kHz when I am using the iRig Pre 2 and recording in the iRig app.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před 2 lety

      My understanding is that the 3.5mm connection on the Xbox controller is exclusively an output for headphones and wouldn't work as an input. I haven't personally tried it though... so I could be wrong.

    Is there any different from the irig pre hd

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před rokem

      This spam stuff drives me insane… sorry they picked on your comment.
      There isn’t a huge difference from the HD to the iRig Pre 2, aside from just the cable. The HD has detachable cables (which is nice) that are meant to go direct into your phone or computer, while the pre 2 is just a permanent 3.5mm cable. If you are planning on using a phone or computer exclusively and never a camera or external recorder, then the HD might be the better choice. It’s a little more pricey though.
