brilliant, what a pleasant surprise to find not only a half way decent video but an amazingly high production quality video, i'm so tired of trying to get information and all there is are fuzzy badly worded half baked explanations of how to subscribe to a channel that's told me nothing!

Thanks for all the info on the mics but what about the android software? I was using cinema fv5 to record film and audio from an eternal mic connected through the 3.5mm input socket. But this app has no audio input levels control (only the option to toggle on/off AGC). The result was too much gain and distortion. It also worked with USB mics.
Did you record your video here on Open Camera? Can I adjust audio input levels with Open Camera? Is that the only app I would need or do you recommend others for use with external mics? Thanks

I am confused on one point. When a USB condenser mike is plugged in, is the built in mike on the mobile disconnected, or does it continue to pick up and record sound?
Perhaps this accounts for why some people report a lot of recorded noise.

    • @erikz6645
      @erikz6645 Před rokem

On most newer smart phones the phone automatically detects if you have an external mic connected and shuts off internal mic and vice versa or check phone settings. And u can always turn volume up and tap on the phones mic/speakers and you will hear which ones are recording. Or just shitty cords, charging phone while recording or just that background noise. Lol

I managed to use the Open Camera app and it recorded the video with sound coming through the mic. It works for me on a budget Huawei P30 Lite Phone. The other way to get around this is by using a free audio editing programme like Audacity...You can increase the audio loudness within the program by importing the audio file from the video.

I have a Galaxy A10 phone, with a micro-USB port. I tried a cheap pair of wireless mics, that had a type C receiver, that plugs to the phone where it gets its power (no battery in receiver).
When I realised I had the wrong port on my phone, I bought a small adaptor (type C female, to micro-USB male). But the receivers light doesn't come on to show its on, so its likely getting no power from my phone.
I'm beginning to understand, with some help from your great video, I need an android compatible app too, that recognises such external mic(s).
I'm after knowing of a mic that would work with my Samsung Galaxy A10 phone with its micro-USB port (possible using an adaptor), & a suitable app. So, I don't buy a second mic that won't work. I'm happy to spend more for something that works, with help from someone who knows. It's for videoing piano play (from above the piano keyboard) while singing, for practise purposes.
    Any suggestions?

Hi, I just tried L'Iring Pre Hd with shure sm58 microphone, samsung galaxy s9 + android phone and smule app. I noticed 2 things: - With Direct Monitoring in the headphones connected to the device, obviously I have no effect on the voice, unless you turn up the volume of the feedback from the App, but in this case the effect returns to me with Latency. - After recording, there is a latency between 150 and 200 ms (which I can still correct from the App). Do you have any advice for me? Many thanks in advance.

I can hear it with earphones when plugged in with micro-USB android. But apps aren't picking up external mic, only phone mic. The cable adapter is good enough to power the mic. But for some reason, after i record songs use starmaker karaoke app or even smule. The playback carries a higher pitch. My voice sounding slightly faster than the music track. Meaning my voice runs ahead of the track. I Used the microphone with a Samsung S10 phone and this issue never happens. I wish if someone can test a microphone with a Samsung 22 ultra, with starmaker karaoke app. And explain me if there is something in the phone's audio hardware. That is causing this higher pitch. The S10 by samsung does not cause this problem. But i am no electronics expert. to figure out and solve the higher pitch end result.

Nice Video! But more specifically, I 'm looking for an Android APP that connects to my Rode USB-NT+ microphone that allows me to make AUDIO recordings with that I can later find on my phone for data export to my Windows-PC. That means, I would have to locate the recorded files on the smartphone. It's not possible with Rode's own "Rode Reporter" because you cannot identify/change the default storage folder. Can soneone halp?

I have just one question that no one has known the answer to. If I connect any USB-enabled microphone to my mobile, audio playback does not work, so I cannot use it for video conferencing. The phone detects the USB microphone as a headset on these applications, which sends the sound to the USB interface. Since there is only one microphone there, it is useless precisely on these surfaces. I can't change the audio output anywhere like I do with a windwos PC. Any ideas?

I’m having a great deal of trouble with my android and I wonder whether you might have a guess as to why this is happening: I have a variety of mics (a yeti, a rode, a smattering of junky little lavs-this is just for recording my speaking voice) and while I can get all of them to record on the Android, there is an ENORMOUS amount of static with all but the crappiest little lav mic from Walmart plugged straight into the headphone jack. I’ve tried others that plug in that way and static. Also tried OTGs. Static. There’s no case on the phone to interfere with connections and each of these mics work just fine with the computer or my DSLR. Oh, I’ve also tried every combination of restarting, plugging in before opening the app, after, etc. Any guesses? I’m at a loss.
Thanks for your videos. They’re excellent.

I bought the AKG Lyra, and I just can seem to make it sound good. I'm using it on my Samsung A52s with the app "starmaker" but for it to sound okay, the gain needs to be almost all the way down, otherwise it's distorting/clipping. it's more clear than a normal headset, but for some reason it sounds very flat and without any fullness. I dunno what the hell is wrong. On my pc it sounds great. But I'm using a xlr on the pc, I bought this specifically to use with this app. The headset actually sounds better than the Lyra, which should not be the case.
