This game and La Mulana (which I assume you're a fan judging by your pic) are the most difficult ones I ever played. Beat hell in Spelunky several times, never beat more than 50% in La Mulana, and that with several guide hints. So hyped for Spelunky 2 and Mulana 2
+METAL1ON every time I beat it (3 times) I used the Ankh. get the Ankh, don't mess with shopkeepers. use the Ankh as a revive for when you mess up and die (especially the thwomps!). You really do need the Ankh as a 2nd chance.

the teleporter teleports your a certain amount of blocks guarantee, using this *and the fact that if you teleport into a block the game will move you anywhere from 1-3 blocks up to save you if your in a wall. you can practice using the teleporter and not dieing
Martin Late but let me specify: the teleporter teleports you a random number from 4 to 8 blocks away. If there happens to be a block there, the teleporter will search 3 blocks perpendicularly in both directions for an empty space (so if you teleport to the right but teleport into a block, the teleporter will search 3 blocks above and 3 blocks below). If it doesn't find an empty space in those 6 blocks, you die. So all you have to do when using the teleporter is to make sure there is at least 1 empty space that's perpendicular to and near all the blocks 4-8 blocks in the direction you're trying to teleport.

I have saw many skillfull and lucky situations Teleporter 1-1 Arrow trap not being on in 0:17, near idol Perfect land on a skeleton in 0:28 Getting in right before spiders in 0:32 Not getting telefragged in 0:47 Not dieing from shopkeep in about 0:57 Perfect telefrag in 01:09 Landing on shopkeep in 01:17 Surviving a shopkeep in 01:29 01:46 was just pure skill and calculation 01:55 telefragging yeti 02:10 was a little risk 02:18 there was a little risk of teleporting into lava 02:38 almost got telefragged 03:13 Mind blown
+Víctor Carnicer he needed a lot of skill but on with such low times you need to have a lot of luck as well (I'm not saying that with the same seed anyone could have done it) for example : he got the teleporter for the first crate in 1-1 in the ice level he could instandly teleport in the statue in a lot of levels the shop keeper killed himself and others he could easely teleport in to him and just the general layout in general (he could use the teleporter a lot)

+badams52 really, you just need patience -- so you can grind out the "lucky" seed. nobody who's ever gotten a wr in any category got their seed on the first try. THAT would be lucky.

I wanna practise speedrunning this game. Is there something I can do to reliably get a teleporter on 1-1/1-2 so I don't need to rely on luck in the first shop? I've found a couple of custom launch applications but none seem to allow me to spawn items. What do the current WR setters use to practise?? Many thanks in advance
Yes, and you can also destroy it using the chainball that you get when destroying Kali Altars. Neither give Hedjet tho, he used that mechanic just for completing the level faster than usual.
Ridiculous. What insane luck and skill. But why was Olmec counted as defeated at the end? There were 3 layers more to get destroyed. I saw he layed down some bombs but if I recall correctly they had not such a high horizontally blast radius that they would destroy 2 layers and Olmec the 3rd one. O.o
+ash hw As I understand it, once Olmec is "jumping," his momentum will carry him through the next 1-block deep layer. As the bombs explode before Olmec "reaches ground", proper placement of 2 bombs will have a 4 block wide space, 2 block deep disappear, leaving the final layer for Olmec to break through.
+ash hw It looks like he laid 2 bombs at the end in sequence, so the one destroys first layer, the next destroys the second layer, and then Olmec crashed through the last.
I believe Olmec detonates bombs he crushes, which caused the bombs to destroy the first 2 layers, but because he squished the bombs, that means he still hadnt landed, so the remainer of the stomp was probably able to destroy the last layer, thats the only reasonable explanation, and i believe its what happened.
