- While RV camping at FDR State Park Campground I decided to hit up the Pine Mnt. Trail. Was hoping to trail run all 23 miles but got a late start and only had time for 8.5 miles before dark. Started at the Cascade Falls Trail Head at mile 23 and ended at the FDR Overlook at Dowdell's Knob.
Hi Jason. Me.and.my husband are just subbed to your other channel. I am the 63 year old AT thru hiker and trike rider from N Georgia. This channel.popped up.on the algorithm feed. Love your videos. FDR State Park is one of our favorite spots to camp in our.1965 Airstream. Beautiful. Park with rich history. The CCC did an amazing job in that park. .Georgia has some amazing state parks especially up.north. Be safe and God Bless.
Hey Becky, FDR SP was incredible, and the campsite we were at may have been one of our top 5 ever!
Great video. Makes me ready for spring.
For sure! Thanks!
Awesome Jason! Pine Mountain is our go to tramily hike! 👍
Thanks Tom, great little trail with nice camping options!
Nice looking area! I have heard a lot of good stuff about that PMT. All the waterfalls is really cooL!
It’s always been strange to me that there are two trails called the PMT… and to be honest, the one near you in Kentucky was much better in my opinion, at least from the 8 miles I saw on the Georgia one. I was hoping to do the 40 mile Breaks ultra on the PMT this year but they discontinued it!
Nice quick hiking video bud! Some of my favorites have been ones I’ve snuck in while on the road. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks AJ, I hated that I couldn’t get all 23 miles in but maybe I can finish it next time I’m passing through. Beautiful state park campground too!
Thanks for the video. Been wanting to go to there for some backpacking.
Seems like a great place for some backpacking with all the campsites spread throughout the 23 miles.
What a nice January hike. We just did the Hocking hills Winter hike and it started at 8° f
Ugh 8 degrees, sounds miserable
Good job Jason.
Thank you sir…I almost called you for some advice but got it all figured out after talking to Crow and Metro.
We are actually going to through hike that trail first weekend of March!! I think we'll be going the opposite direction. Andy from Metro on the Move just did a video on through hiking it and made me want to do it! It looked like the sun may have still been above the horizon, just masked by clouds!! Great day hike... er evening hike i guess 😉!!
That will be a great backpacking trip for you and the kiddos. Metro, Crow and John are definitely the go to people for trail intel on the PMT!
You need to come up to the North Georgia Mountains. Plenty and hiking trails gushing cascades and waterfalls up here to explore.
Yes I know and I’ve been wanting to get there for several years. The Georgia loop, Benton McKay and the Pinhoti are all on my list.
💯
Thanks for checking out the vid Jay!
The palmetto like plant is commonly called “ Bear grass”.
Thanks for sharing that!
