Hey Mr. Greene, I'm going over seas. Gonna knock out alot of reading while I'm away. But I also do woodworking and when I get back I wanna make a bookshelf for my wife. What design features and aesthetics go well with fantasy books.
Also I'm on book 2 of the Dresden files and love them series so far. Thank you for your videos they have revamped my love for reading, I even started reading to my kids more. Bfg was a favorite of mine that my grandfather read to me when I was little and my kids love it and were on the hobbit right now.

My favorite part about this series is how visibly uncomfortable Daniel is insulting randos. I thought we'd seen the last of Bookshelf Roast, I'm glad we haven't.

I just appreciate everyone taking the hits. My shelves, desk and everything are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse. The absolute bottom tier is what I aspire to one day be.
I, too, wish to be roasted. But I also am embarrassed of how little of the books I have are ones that are mine and am proud to share now. I'd just get a cool set up of floor to ceiling shelves filled with old encyclopedias, half a Nancy Drew collection, a lot of books that belonged to my parents or school, and THEN my collection. Don't be afraid of the setup. Be PROUD of what's YOURS! :)
My shelves are there to hold books, I never even considered that I could make them look good until I came across these videos 😂 I don't think they would get a pass grade.
Yeah, me too. I don’t even have a shelf, and even when I did a lot of the books I have (mainly my academic/non-fiction books) are sized so weirdly they didn’t even fit properly. I even had one jut out of the shelf awkwardly 🤢
I’m so excited a got an A- all thanks to my disco ball 😂😂😂 to be fair the painting and a bunch of the knickknacks were passed down to me by my late grandparents and I only have so much space so everything kinda had to be there, but eventually I’ll have my own place to spread it all out

As someone who doesn't care if a book is indie or not, I want to say, it's not supporting the indie community. It's the indie community has awesome books that must be read and displayed. 🙂

Your comment reminds me of the book series called Ascendance of a Bookworm. The main character, who lives in Japan, in the first chapter gets killed by her books falling on her in an earthquake. She also dies right after getting her dream job as a librarian and is reincarnated into a medieval fantasy world where books aren't easily accessible unless you are super rich.

I lost a huge amount of books to water damage when I had to move and the garage they were stored in collapsed during a storm. So I've been too intimidated to rebuild the collection, as I still don't have much space. But daaaang this gave me the itch to start replacing some series. I miss my library aesthetic!

Tbf, Caligula as an emperor wasn't nearly as bad as people say. A lot of what's said about him came after his reign and was written by the families of his political enemies. Irl, he was less murderous incestuous psychopath, like Commodus definitely was, and more of an internet shitposter with power over an empire. Still better people for the job, but yeah, as a ruler,he wasn't terrible.

It only was for a second (because my shelves are much more crowded and the area around my shelves is incapable of being anything but a disaster), but for that second it really was like Daniel broke into my house and took pictures of my shelves to roast.

Lol, both my bookshelves have boxes on top of them to stop an adventurous cat from climbing from my computer desk to the top of the shelves where he then can't get safely down. One of them may end up moving so he can have a sitting shelf above me. The other shelf is. . .super deep, you could easily double shelf books there. . . I need to get some putty to knackage it up in a fashion that said adventurous cat can't knock glass things over. They're still just a little too empty to submit though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the smiley faced book set is a Stephen King trilogy about a detective called Bill Hodges wich is where Holly Gibney (a character that appears on The Outsider, another of hisbooks) that starts with the book called Mr.Mercedes. I only know the name of that one because that's the one I read a never got to the other one but I a still planning to. Although I read it in my native language (Portuguese) the smiley face on those spines is very similar to the one on the spine of the Portuguese version so that's why I think it is trilogy.
I just realised that later in the video Daniel actually realises what the book set is. Still not deleting it tho ahahah
