I did not see a discount can you clarify
@@Bowiehair Hi, when you go to checkout with the Q4 in your cart or any other item. There is a discount code box where you can enter the code HAYES21 to get 21% off.
I just tried it there now and it took 21% off the original price. In saying that there is also a 20% off sale on sitewide at the moment, but you do still save another bit of money.
@@kieranhayesphotography I ordered it and it saved me $80 bucks!! Thanks man
Saved me $80!!!! That's no joke. My godox ad400 was used like 10 times. The battery died and godox did zero for me. Plus the modeling light is a total joke. This is the future
@@Bowiehair Delighted to hear you saved a bit money :-), Surprising Godox didn't sort out your AD400 for you. That's not right at all. Good luck with the Q4 and let me know how you get on.
I got this along with 3 Z2 speedlights and boy did they change my life.
I use the same set up and for the last week I have been using them literally non stop and flawless performance.
Amazing kit for such a good price.
Enjoy every minute of them.
I love your passion. Great video. I was completely unaware of this product and now I want one.
Thanks a million, I do try to contain my excitement as best I can :-)
Great video!
Thanks a million, glad you liked it.
Awesome & Thanks :)
Thanks for watching and glad you liked it, have a great weekend.
ii think my alien bees are going to be heading to the storage room lol . thanks for this great review?
I have been using them non stop now and still very impressed with the Q4. It just keeps going and really powers through work.
I got it and live it
It's an awesome bit of kit alright 👍
Great video Kieran! maybe you can ask Neewer to send me one so I can try it against the strong Arizona sun! B&H has it for 379 US which really is a great price for a 400 watt light.
Thanks Carey and wow 379 is a steal for a light of that power and quality. I spotted it for sale in Germany for only €363.99 also. So there are some great offer on it out there. I will make sure they send you one.... Just pass me on your Visa card details and it will be with you asap :-)

@@CareyP we have a saying in Ireland "God loves a trier", in other words no harm in trying 😉
I’ve been curious about these for a while and your video made me purchase (thanks for the promo code!). For a long time now I’ve been using interfit honey badgers in the studio and they make great power but lack HSS, TTL, and they aren’t battery powered, so I’ve been beating the crap out of a pair of Speedlights when I need to work off batteries, or whenever I need HSS or TTL, and I’ve been using a few Godox SL60W’s around 1/2-3/4 power for occasional video work. It’s my hope that a pair of these can replace my two badgers, two speedlights, and two SL60W’s. That would be so nice…
There should be no issues from the flash power perspective, where you could get caught is the constant light side of things due to output power. Fingers and toes crossed it does everything for you though 👍
Apologies for the delayed reply also, I was away at the Photography show in the UK.
I liked your review a lot. Only one feedback: you should have put more photos as example or even make a demonstration on location. Otherwise, very good quality review!
Hi Sabo, that's my thinking also but the weather was so bad here at the time I just didn't get a chance. My plan is to do a six months with the Q4 review and grab one of my model friends and head down to the beach and provide more photos and insights. Thanks for watching and the feedback, I really appreciate it.
I got this and love the design truly haven't been able to put it to use 😢
It's a beautiful bit of kit alright.
Why haven't you been able to use it?
Can't find models to shoot@@kieranhayesphotography
@@juanargueta5988 try Facebook modelling groups in your area and ask people if they would like to do a tfp shoot. Tfp shoots are free and nobody charges for their work, so the model gets images for their portfolio then also.
Do i need to buy the one that is Compatible Mounting for Nikon if I have a Nikon? The prices are different for each camera. Just curious
Hi Julie,
The Q4 is exactly the same for all brands but the remote trigger is different. If you are based in the USA they sell just the Q4 on its own and they also have it as a kit option which includes the Qpro remote trigger which you will need to fire the flash. You can buy that kit in Canon, Nikon and Sony versions. Only the Nikon kit with work with your Nikon camera then.
So, yes if you are buying the kit you should only buy the Nikon version.
I hope that helps a bit.
Great review of this product. I recently purchased two of the Q4s as well. Its been a wonderful addition to my collection of strobes. The only problem ive had is some delay in shutter release when using HHS. This becomes a problem when shooting action sports. My other HSS Neewer products dont have this issue. Did you notice the same?
Thank you, No, I haven't had any issue at all with Hss and the Q4. Can I ask what camera are you using it on and are you using the QPro Transmitter also? I can always ask them directly and see if there is an issue you might have picked up.
@@kieranhayesphotography I’m shooting with a Sony A7r3. I’m also using the Q-proS for Sony cameras. I’ve also installed the latest updates on all products.
@@chrisgarrison4534 I will certainly ask Neewer and see what they say, I am using a Nikon Z8 and Z7ii and I haven't noticed any issue at all. Is it a quarter of a second delay or longer? I know any delay in sports is like another lifetime.
@@kieranhayesphotography I would say it’s a 1/4 second delay. It works fantastic in non HSS situations.
@@chrisgarrison4534 Thanks Chris I will ask them and let you know what they come back with.
Anyone have a link to what stand works best with this ??? So it can sit secure
Hi Brandon, I am using it on a few different light stands and they all work fine but I mainly use it on the Neewer stainless steel photography light stand. Or even better get a C Stand
Have you a stand that it's not fitting right on?
Would mind, if you have any colleague with Olympus or Panasonic try the Sony trigger on Olympus or Panasonic... I'm pretty sure it won't work TTL, but maybe in manual... and I hope in HSS... Thank you in advance
Hi, sorry I don't have the Sony trigger, you could reach out to Neewer on CZcams though and ask them if they tried it 👍
@@kieranhayesphotography Thanks!! I’ll reach to them!!! 😉
@@hackerockmedia they are general fast enough to reply, good luck.
Is it bowens mount ?
Hi, yes it is, I use all my older Bowens mounts accessories on it.
7:45 You may have to see this video
I’m just very skeptical about it. Majority of my experience with neewer stuff is on the fence. I’m more leaning to the FJ400 but that’s also an extra $150.
Hi Justin, that's a very solid option also. I have to say though I have never had an issue with any of the Neewer stuff I have bought. Was it a particular item you had the issue with?
@@kieranhayesphotography some of there led panels stopped working after a few months and the stands are made with thin aluminum broke easily. One review said they were having issues with the boeings mount, that not all of his modifiers work with it. I have a bunch of aperture modifiers and just worry that it won’t fit them correctly. I might try to see if I can try one out soon. Thank you for the video.
@@justinwyatt1618 Hi Justin, I have no real experience with their LED panels but I have done several shoots in places where they had LED panels from different makes and a lot of them seem to be very flimsy.
I have several Neewer light stands and have no issue at all with them they are really well built and rocks solid. But They are also more expensive than the ones supplied with the LED panels.
Regarding the Bowens mount fitting on the Neewer I have no issues at all and I have at least 4 light modifiers from different companies.
I know I came across an issue before with a Godox modifier not fitting on a few of my Bowens mounts.
I am away for a few days and when I get back I will try that one on the Q4 and see if it works.
I use to hear that back in the past too, but I think these days they’re doing a lot better , I have two cob lights from them some stainless steel stands and c stands and they doing good
Unfortunately they cannot be used with Godox triggers. Godox has a very tight grip in the industry. All my lights are Godox. I invested heavily in that ecosystem.
Very true they are not compatible, the good news is companies like Neewer creating products as good as this will maybe overtime loosen Godoxs grip on this section to provide more competition and reduce prices a bit then too also. So it's good news for us all seeing companies like this offering amazing lights at these price points.
Yeah, nice ad.
Also, what a huge oversight to make the handle non-removable. absolute dealbreaker for me, kills the entire form factor
Hey thanks for watching. Regarding the Ad comment, well, I suppose you could say yes this video was always going to be about one product, hence the the tile and the "review" part of it.
You could also be saying that I lied and my opinion has been simply been bought but I am going to assume that's not what you meant here. Just to clarify, Neewer have not paid me for doing this video and had absolutely no insight into it.
I make more in one day on a photoshoot then I make all year doing CZcams videos. So that would be a completely stupid move to be doing it for the money.
So why get excited about that light then, we'll even if you are the biggest Godox fan boy out there you should also be really excited as this is going to push all the other companies to possibly reduce prices or even better produce better products so it's good for everyone.
Hence why I think this light is awesome. Now as I said above it's not for everyone as like you said the non removable top handle is a deal breaker for you but again the next model will probably have that. Who knows, anyway happy holidays and good luck with your photography for 2024.
@@kieranhayesphotography Good review :)
I discovered the Q4 months ago and i found it really interesting at the first sight.
The handle was maybe the most interesting part !
It is a great aspect. Ergonomics are a field of study (i am not a english native speaker) / study graduation and alon.... made the handle a deal breaker😂
What a joke😁
@@sissonor Hi, just like you I love the design of this flash.
The thing about photography though is everyone uses their gear differently and it possibly not right for everyone which is only natural.
Thanks for watching and have a great weekend 👍
The shape is not ideal for outdoor due to aerodynamics. You also need to have a very deep bag/case to put it sideways or else, it will take more space than Godox AD400 Pro.
Hi, It's funny how we all see things differently and what's right for one person is different for another person. For me there are two ways to look at the aerodynamics that you mentioned. If it's sideways to the wind the Q4 will catch a lot less wind than the Godox AD400pro as the Q4 is thinner, the second point is even a standard Bowens mount reflector is the same size as the Q4 so that means there is no extra wind resitance even if the light is facing into the wind, btw that's the best accessory you can get for either the AD 400pro or the Q4 as it increases and concentrates the output power of the light. The third point for me personally is I hardly ever shoot without a diffuser of some form so aerodynamics really don't come into it for me and I do a lot of fashion shoots on the beach so wind is a concern here most of the time, heck who am I kidding it's all of the time. With regard to the Camera bag issue my Q4 fits nicely into the top compartment of my 37Litre f-stop camera bag and my 50L Tilopa and 70L Sukha but in saying that I have mainly been mainly transporting it in its own carrying case. Thanks for watching and I hope that helps a bit.
