Mab could have been an interesting villain had the show not dropped her in the first 3 minutes after introducing her
And Rebecca Wisocky is just so brilliant. Missed opportunity for sure.
They never knew how to handle the fairy content, it was shoehorned to fit the vampire centric storyline running the central point of view.
Great scene. Thank god we still have the books to explain Sookie's origins. True Blood was great, but they did their main character a sever diservice not exploring her fairy heritage enough.
From season 2 True Blood started to be it’s own thing independently from Sookie’s book storyline. The focus of the show was vampires and although Sookie’s fairy relevance started with Russell Edgington re emergence on season 5, I feel the writers accomodated Sookie’s fairy background to fit the show’s main storyline rather than fully develop her magical side. We see this more evidently in season 7 when her ancestral grandfather prince Niall made a cameo to deliver a washy washy reason why he wouldn’t bother with his powers to even attempt to heal Bill from hep V. At that point in the show Allan Ball was not creatively involved and they didn’t quite know how to manage the fairy content or even the fact that Alcide’s relationship with Sookie took place off screen in the time jump. The ending was so anachronistic with how edgy the show used to be in earlier seasons but now with the remake of True Blood we’ll see if they rework the material or use the content.
The show was only loosely based on novels. Mainly the True Blood and vampires coming out. Otherwise it would have been the Southern Vampire Mysteries.
They should have explained this better and had more of a story with this than all that vampire religion crap
The show basically became about worshiping and wanking off vampires like ann rice.
Leslie Sauceman well actually what happened is that people were really disappointed with the direction of the show so they cut it short. It’s the same reason Lafayette lived and didn’t die in the first season. They killed him off but people got vocal about how much they loved him so they changed it when they started filming the second season.
At the end of season 3 people weren’t really feeling the fairies so they changed it when filming season 4.

In books, the universe of fairies is widely discussed. In the series, unfortunately, they didn't even touch the surface. I would like to see more series about fairies, elves, goblins, gnomes. I'm sick of vampires
I love how "True Blood" and "Shadowhunters" depict faeries (or fairies) as extremely beautiful, enchanting yet dangerous creatures.
In the Labyrinth they look like Tinkerbell but bite if you handle them. In the movie Troll(1986) the fairies were all evil.
Traditionally they are beautiful but dangerous and not to be messed with also it's easy to insult them and insulting them can lead to huge issues they like gifts though.
Growing up is realizing Mab was soooo undoubtedly right

@uliseslag In the books they are different. They are not Goblin-like or anything. They are simply the most beautiful things your eyes can ever see. Alan Ball just likes to change the shit out of the whole show. :p

I don't think they are goblins. I mean, if you read about faeries and explore different myths, you'd know they come in different personas. Faeries are initially tricksters. They like playing pranks on people. Some people believed they were actually demons. And who cares that they do not resemble the books? It has been established since season one that "True Blood" is only loosely based on Harris's novels, which gives Ball plenty of room to explore and keep things creative.

The fairies were done so dirty in True Blood. Instead of being powerful, strong and viscious like they were in the books; they were turned into glowsticks that couldn't take a single vampire down. This intro scene had so much potential but they tossed it out for 'Vampire Religion/Lillith' and 'diseased vamps'. If the show was going to be primarily about vampires, theu shpuld have stuck to vampires, not half introduce other supernatural species and not fully exploit their potential.

she wasnt just queen of the goblins she was more like an evil goddess she was well known for being a part of Merlin she was really the evil force who wants to destroy humanity. her sister was the lady of the lake who is the good force helping merlin and saving mankind. she is also spoken of in romeo and Juliette as queen of the fairy's during mercutio's monologue as if she torments men.

@kakuichi AlukardFE is a douche for having an opposing opinion? I saw the show first, liked it, which caused me to read the books. I know that you can only do so much when translating a book to a show, but really Alan Ball should've made his own vampire show if he was going to change it so much. The show has turned into a glorified fan fiction. He has made some nice changes, but taking screen time from main characters to add a bunch of filler for side characters is not good story telling.
