How to cut paddle tires - Skat Trak Extreme w/ stagger cut - DIY

- This is one method of many to cut paddle tires. It's my first set ever cutting so I'll be improving as time goes. These are Skat Trak Extreme tires for my '18 900 4 seat RZR. This helped get some extra wheel speed so it would float instead of dig when going up hills.
I just picked up a set of skat track extremes , if they are too extreme I’ll be doing this !

I'm cheap. Is there a way to vulcanize cemet some flat rubber onto some used mud terrain tires that are pretty much no tread left. I went to glamis for first time and it was the coolest area I've ever seen. Walking up the hills and seeing the edge of a razor back and then walking down it and then trying to go back up was hilarious
I haven't been to Glamis, but I sure hope to make it some day! Man, I have no idea if that's a diy type project. I think you'd be better off trying to find a good used set of paddles.
@@PapaWheeliesWorld definitely go to glamis. I went on a non holiday on a Sunday. Wasn't too crowded. I saw the sun come up. It was amazing. My 4x4 could do small hills but I wasn't able to venture too far past the campground. But I have to find some rubber to make some paddles. I just need to find some thick pieces of rubber. Any ideas?
I don't have any good ideas for that. I looked online and didn't find any good options.
How did these paddles work ? I’m thinking of doing the same on some for a quad
They worked much better after cutting them. Mainly because they had to much hook for the power I had.
Does this make it dig in the sand more?
No, it takes some traction away so the tires can spin faster to float easier and not dig in. Those paddles had too much traction and the RZR I had at the time didn't have enough power to spin them so it would dig and not come up onto plain in the sand.

In my case the paddles I had were too much for that RZR. By trimming them it helped me get some extra wheel speed to float the sand instead of digging so much. A stagger cut also allows a little more sliding/drifting.
