is for sure is a debate question. I like that they are in prison. just that I would see lots of modifications. and at contrary thinking, bringing violence and pain in jail. for example, that guy, isolated alone, jail, 100 years no parole, no meat, no cheese, just water, fruits/vege/cereals. no windows, no break time. It's a nice type of pain for not saying the other word, and civilized.

The fact that he only ended up with 24 years is sickening. The punishment does not fit the crime. He took away everything from that sweet little child, he took her future, her innocence, and her life. He did all that for what? Some sick twisted pleasure? He has no remorse, no empathy for the family that he ruined by taking away their precious innocent child. I don’t care that he was only 16. Someone who is 16 knows right from wrong. He deserved what happened to him in prison.

Knowing how prisons work and how they're supposed to work with keeping those predators away from general populace in prison is somewhat aggravating to me as a future law enforcement officer, but I do understand why these guys did what they did.
I just know that girl is at peace and not in any pain, I also know that he will be in pain for the foreseen future and his life will be forever torturous. He will have to look over his shoulder because their won't be anybody else in there to watch his.
Then, when he's gone, and I do believe in a real hell when we die, that his ultimate karma for that one innocent life taken will come fully back on him and he will be forced to atone for the death of the innocent life he took.

I doubt if there's even the slightest possibility that other prisoners will be able to visit upon him that much pain, suffering, fear and sadness. That poor little girl. A six year old mind trying to fathom what was happening to her is 1,000 times worse than an adult mind trying to contemplate it. Somebody needs to create a more "welcoming" voluntary program (hospitalization) for psychos like him to turn themselves into, before they commit such crimes. They don't necessarily deserve a welcoming environment, but anything that might prevent some of these crimes from happening is better than nothing.

He deserves life in prison. Not less than 27 years. How can a drug trafficker be sentenced to death yet this monster gets to live and go free at some point? The justice system doesn’t deserve to have justice in the name.

No one in the UK has been sentenced to death in over fifty years. Though I agree with the sentiment, over here people get 25+ years for drug offences but non-custodial sentences measured in months for crimes against children, it’s a sick and twisted paradigm.

@@dog-jk2hn My life in usa has been completely destroyed ever since I bought $50 of herb from an undercover cop in 2012. They followed me home, raided my 90 year old grandparents house with 20 officers, and a bunch of dogs. I woke up with a shotgun pointed at me. My family kicked me out, haven't seen them since. I dealt with the court system for 3 years, they gave me a felony for drug trafficking. I am still in debt, at 35, unable to get healthcare or any job that does a background check. Every week I worry about how I am going to afford food even though I have a college degree. I have never had enough money to take a girl out to taco bell. Had to give up any hope of having a wife and kids. I feel like I have nothing to look forward to, I spend all my money on rent/car insurance/meds, leaving me with about $100 for food every month after working 50 hours a week. All this over $50 of herb because I have ADHD and was unable to get a doctor to prescribe me meds, to allow me to hold down a job. I am at the point of considering committing real crimes just to get a free cell and food, due to being so stressed out that I can't focus on anything besides looking for a rope. The cherry on top is now that I am able to get my meds prescribed (that I am paying $468 for a month.) I don't even use herb anymore, yet they allow everyone to buy it like it is candy now. And I am still sitting on a felony that has effectively imprisoned me for life.

Agreed. Too dangerous to let out again. Shame on the judge that cut those 3 years. That crime wasnt really that of an innocent child was it... But either way his life is done. He won't live without that label and crime hanging over his head. Nobody can empathise with or excuse a monster like that. There's no forgiveness to be given, he's just a dangerous monster and will be treated as such for the rest of his life. Even on the off chance he feels remorse in the future, this is his cross to bear and society will punish him and make his life hell anyway. I hope the rest of the years in prison will be painful, full of illness and utterly alone and hopefully he won't live many years or have any meaningful relationships. A lifetime experience indeed. What a dumb, disgusting monster he is. I hope he gets lots of special attention in prison every hour of every day much like he gave to that poor girl.

Living in a town not far from Airdrie, I can confirm that the whole of our nation was shocked and disgusted to our cores. The people of Rothesay (roth-see) are such a tight knit community that people COULD leave their doors unlocked, everyone knows everyone its so small. this truly TRULY horrified residents and indeed the rest of the nation, due to how safe and peaceful the place was. My heart breaks for those involved as victims in this case... even Campbells mother to a lesser extent, as until that day - like any mother - and son he was her baby, the son she knew and loved would have died that day in her mind and heart too. I truly commend her forthcomingness in pursuit of justice, regardless of personal loss and am so proud to be part of a nation where our morals and our sense of community shone through during this horrific incident. Right down to our prisoners in the young offenders unit, rest assured that when he is moved to an adult facility, the "protection" he "receives" will be even less adequate to protect him from the many violent individuals who love and cherish the women in their lives and abhor sexual misconduct toward children. the wails of Alisha's poor mother heard during judge sentencing will echo in my mind forever I think, because the shock is still felt between people whenever this case comes up in conversations. as a nation many of us pledged that because this boy did what he did for notoriety and perverted thrillseeking, that whenever we discuss this case we should leave him nameless because Alisha's name is the one who should be remembered, not the repugnant scum who robbed her of her innocent life and destroyed the lives of her family. My thoughts are with and often return to Alisha's family and how awful this must still be for them, it may appear that I've skimmed over their grief in my comment but it's because honestly anything I could say has not only already been said and felt by anyone with a shred of decency but regardless of that, nothing will EVER be able to convey the magnitude of the agony and misery her mother endured and endures. From the bottom of my heart I hope that she can still find light in her life.

The way, he stopped…lifted his head and waited. Whether he was deciding to excuse her from the courtroom or whether trying to collect himself before proceeding, I can’t say …. but it was the expression in his eyes …. profound and so deeply heartfelt that I believe it was the latter. Normally, I would end with a RIP for the little girl but not this time. I believe that children…toddlers…babies who have had their lives taken away, all end up in the same place. Where they are happy…surrounded by light and love and whatever brings them joy. For perpetrators who prey on children there can be no peace. Not really. They may think they are immune to remorse but deep inside that part of the brain that never lies…they are reminded…every single waking moment.
