This comment is meant to educate people on the topic according to science For most people their sex and their gender but not for everyone Intersex isn't a 3rd sex because there's no 1st and 2nd,Intersex is a variation of human biology It's better to let the child mature and find out their gender by themselves than forcing a gender upon them
@@SkyTheHusky if your intention is to correct, it would be helpful to provide them with the alternative correct term, like "transgender people" or "being transgender", after telling them it's incorrect.

@@sobiaKhan-ny3bs sister you are best talking to a scholar. However physical characteristics override chromosomes in Islam. Therefore someone who has a vagina and no penis would automatically be classed as a woman even if you don't have a womb or ovaries. Don't cry as everything Allah has given you is a test because he loves you.
@sobiaKhan-ny3bs I hope your life becomes easier for you, may Allah protect you and keep you happy and safe ,and sorry if any other Muslim talk shit to you because they are ignorant, you are beautiful
I'm quite impressed by Siddra's knowledge of this subject. She broke it down to very clear language and how to differentiate one type from another. That was a great lesson to learn. Thank you my Muslim friend for this presentation, I greatly enjoyed the content 👏👏👍
My intersex friend has met an intersex Muslim woman. She choose to be a woman and doesn’t develop like either sex. No surgery or medical treatment involved due to money reasons. Thanks for sharing about intersex in Islam.
Thank you. You explained it so well. I'm not Muslim. I'm Norse Pagan. But I learned a lot when I was in Afghanistan. People seemed nice to us and we talked and laughed. Now if only people would wake up and realize things. I do agree with what you said in this video.
This was a really interesting video! I’m impressed by your knowledge on this subject. It seemed very well researched and well thought out. I’m not Muslim, but you give such great information on Islam and I love watching your channel!
Good video, but I do find it off putting that someone may want me to under go surgery because my chromosomes are male but not my entire body. Sound unnecessary.
As a transgender non intersex person I find it very refreshing how she tries her best to not offend and use proper terminology it’s so heartwarming to see that even in cultural differences/ beliefs ppl will try their best to get along with everyone (: thank you for informing us on the common stances in Islam about intersexuality

Jazakillah Khair Kaseeran Ukhti Sidra. ❤ Also thanks for educating about intersex, I was unaware of the rulings of Islam about them and I always regarded them as third gender as I perceived from South Asian culture and media
I do feel like this will be taken by some people as offensive despite it being for the sake of spreading knowledge but we as muslims should not allow such people to affect us, our deen is timeless and the truth and the anger from some people in other communities doesn't change that fact.
Is it correct to assume that no exceptions are made for intersex people who’s genitals were operated on (some people might say medically mutilated without their consent 🤷♀️) and later realize that the wrong gender/sex was chosen for them?
Thank you for your video. and the cultural /religous points but the biological things were confusing, but ok, this was not a biology lesson. But something i was wondering as Pakistan has a Muslim Majority and a "Third Gender" (Khwajasara), with a clear seperation from Male or Female so is it a specific cultural/religous Background you were talking about? There are many muslims all arroucnd the world with different cultural Backgrounds and there is not " one Religion" so i would just like to Know which Branch/cultural Background this take is from. Thank you very much.
Thank you for sharing! I can tell you took the time to do any research on specifics or perhaps spoke to a scholar before you made the video to make sure you had all the details. Sending love and blessings from your Latter-day Saint sister 💖

Thank you so much for fostering these discussion! I'm curious and I have a hypothetical question. I'm a transgender man (that is, born female and have transitioned medically to male). If someone like me was Muslim, would it be recommended to wear hijab or not? I hope this is okay to ask, I'm trying to learn and expand my understanding of Islam. Thanks!
Hi, that's an interesting question and I noticed that nobody has answered you yet. I'm not a student of knowledge or anything so don't quote me on this but I think that a Muslim in your situation would have to wear hijab. If you really want to know the answer you can google your local Masjid and ask the Imam because tbh I can't quote the Quran or hadeeths to you for evidence but I hope that helped.
Good ques but first of all, transitioning is haram in islam. I respect you but it is what it is. Again if that transitioned person regrets and asks for forgiveness they should live their life as the gender that they were assigned at birth.
Interesting! Would you mind saying ‘transgender people’ though? Transgender is an adjective, for instance Muslim is a noun so you say Muslims. But for transgender people it should be “people”. Thank you Sidra!
I’m not really sure, if this really works in everyday life, but when studying religion in high school we were taught that in Iran you actually had to undergo surgery if you’re trans. So it wasn’t about state of mind, it was the normal treatment that is used in the USA or UK for instance. Also it wasn’t voluntary, it was mandatory for any transgender. Does that have anything to do with Iran being Shia and having a different view on this problematics? Or is it just a weird law because of the regime that doesn’t have anything to do with Islam? I’m just really curious, because it stands out, so if anyone knows, I’ll be happy if you let me know. 😇
If you want to learn about Islam learn it from the right sources which is : Qur'an and sunnah of the prophet Muhammad... shia are not a great source for islam cause they don't follow what's in the Quran and sunnah, rather they have their own books that written by their own scholars which literally his Rulings that contradict Quran and sunnah ! Ninja mammy is a great channel to get the real knowledge of islam .
TOTALLY HARAM OF WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! “And I will mislead them, and I will arouse in them [sinful] desires, and I will command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah." And whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allah is clearly a loser. (Quran 4:119)
this is very cool to hear about as an intersex person, I really appreciate this video. I find it interesting how other religions think of my condition I would just like to say to everyone to please remember a lot of the surgeries are very harmful on intersex people and if you can fight against unconsensual surgeries done on children (that their intersex condition does not have serious effect on their health and the surgery is just done to change the look) before they can decide (consensual once they are mature enough is completely okay!) please do
Is it compulsory for the intersex individuals described at 3:11 to surgically or chemically reduce all characteristics they exhibit that belong to the other sex? What if they are unable to?
Of course not! These surgeries only existed in recent years. Before they would just live life in the gender they feel by the way they dress & appearance without any operations or hormones.
@@ThatLondonLadythat's actually not true. Gender confirmation for trans*women has existed in some form for 80+ years. Also, people identifying in such a way that doesn't align with their birth sex is something that has been prevalent for millenia. And as you correctly said, such individuals dressed and acted in such a manner that aligned most closely to their gender identity, prior to the modern era.
This was lovely, Sidra. I'm Christian and I'm also LGBT. I love that from your explanation it seems Islam takes care to understand different issues and find a solution for them, within the teachings of Islam, in order to assist Muslims who may be Intersex or may experience gender dysphoria, rather than resorting to shaming and shunning.
Don’t forget that she believes you are sinfull to the bone. I think she seems like a very nice, compassionate and intelligent women. I am just a bit tired of us LGBT people acting like Islam is not a reason for so much suffering in our community.
@@NadinaStryhn that's fair and your anger and pain is justified. I am also LGBT and it is true, religion has been the cause of a lot of our suffering, even today. But this woman who is sharing her beliefs and educating people didn't singlehandedly cause our suffering. It's good to point out what you pointed out but you don't need to imply that this woman thinks so badly of us. You can believe someone is sinful without hating them or shaming them.

I’m a Christian, southern Baptist, and I agree with everything you just described. I wish more people could understand this as well. Thank you Siddra for educating us on this topic. God bless you and your family.
I agree too, but once thing I don't understand that is why you have to be religious in order to understand it? I just think that people should already know that there are only two genders doesn't matter if you're religious or not! And saying they need Jesus no I think they just need to take biology class and learn about the human body again. Teachers who are saying they identify as they / them and saying there are 100 genders they are just stupid! You can identify as whatever you want, but there are only two genders !
@@marianguyen6667 you’re right to a point. You don’t have to be religious to know that there are only two genders. But if you follow God’s teachings you should know this already. Unfortunately, there are religious people who follow that there are more than two genders. It’s really sad too.
@@marianguyen6667 the thing about religion and the diversity of human culture and beliefs is that even things that are scientifically proven will not be accepted by everyone. Just like how many religions contradict science, some religions contradict ideas about sex and gender established by science. For example, many first nations tribes in Canada believe in "two-spirited" people, who are believed to be born with a male and female spirit. Not only is it common for religious people to believe in more than two genders, it is the nature of religion to go against science and the observed natural world. This is not me hating or disagreeing BTW, it's just a distinct difference between religion and science. If you are shocked when religion and science don't always go hand in hand, you must be new to religion.
@@Givebackthescarf I didn't called anyone rude here ! And what I said was right. I'm just saying that you don't have to be religious in order to know that there are only two genders. As human being you should know that there are only two genders and not more. Religion has nothing to do with it
@@Givebackthescarf I wasn't referring to you and I'm just saying in general that you don't need to believe in God to know that there are only two genders. It's just wonders me why people sometimes say those people need God. I don't think they need God they just need common sense
@@Mr.Brightside83they are quite literally not the same. Gender is a social construct. You can believe a tree isnt a living organism that doesn't change that it is
When you can't tell at birth and have to wait until they reach puberty to determine their gender, how will you raise them between then? Do you just guess their gender and raise them as that and hope that you made the right choice?
A simpler way to determine a person's sex/gender is by having the person get a chromosome test. In the test, the sex chromosomes either show all Xs or at least one Y. Those with all Xs are female and those with at least one Y are male. For example, a normal female has XX sex chromosome, while a normal male has XY sex chromosome. In abnormal cases, a woman may have X, or XXX, or XXXX. And a man may have Y, or XXY, or XXXY, etc. So, a chromosome test may provide the most straight-forward answer.
@@curiousauthor9827 They may present as female, but if their genes say they are male, then they are men. They should try to dress and act more masculine to compensate for their lack of masculine physical traits.
This is interesting! I didn’t realize Islam had rulings this detailed regarding intersex. I am not exactly intersex but I have a hormonal disorder and I need to take an androgen blocker to stop me from losing hair, growing facial hair, etc. You wouldn’t know looking at me though. The med I take is technically a “puberty blocker”. That’s why people need to be careful when they talk about banning these medications, because that would also mean banning it for the non-trans people who need them as well. Most if not all of these meds have many medical uses outside of transitioning and banning them altogether would not be a good idea.
Not just islam, but all the abrahamic religions are against homosexuality, but where as hinduism and buddhism is silent on this topic. but their scriptures have also not specified anything related to gay marriage and lesbain marriage. so it means even these 2 religions do not permit homosexuality. and most of the traditional buddhist and hindu scholars are against homosexualiy. .....
Thanks so much, Alhamdulilah. I am discovering I’m pretty sure I am intersex due to several defects. I hope I can correct it islamically. It tortures me every day. I wish to be the correct gender at last.

For most people their sex and their gender but not for everyone
Intersex isn't a 3rd sex because there's no 1st and 2nd,Intersex is a variation of human biology
It's better to let the child mature and find out their gender by themselves than forcing a gender upon them
It doesn't need to be scientifically right if it is a religious practice
I know it and respect her opinion but it's wrong scientifically speaking
That's what she said at the end, wait till puberty
It’s psychological though, no? What you’re talking about I mean.

I do feel like this will be taken by some people as offensive despite it being for the sake of spreading knowledge but we as muslims should not allow such people to affect us, our deen is timeless and the truth and the anger from some people in other communities doesn't change that fact.
Thank you. I like that you explain your culture and beliefs.
Is it correct to assume that no exceptions are made for intersex people who’s genitals were operated on (some people might say medically mutilated without their consent 🤷♀️) and later realize that the wrong gender/sex was chosen for them?
Yes I guess. Parents shouldn’t operate them at young age

@@princesshabibti101 thanks so much for the reply! I appreciate it :)
Good ques but first of all, transitioning is haram in islam. I respect you but it is what it is. Again if that transitioned person regrets and asks for forgiveness they should live their life as the gender that they were assigned at birth.

“And I will mislead them, and I will arouse in them [sinful] desires, and I will command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah." And whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allah is clearly a loser.
(Quran 4:119)

Is an intersex person allowed to get married? And also is he/she can remain with the defect that he/she has while getting married without any surgery?

this is very cool to hear about as an intersex person, I really appreciate this video. I find it interesting how other religions think of my condition
I would just like to say to everyone to please remember a lot of the surgeries are very harmful on intersex people and if you can fight against unconsensual surgeries done on children (that their intersex condition does not have serious effect on their health and the surgery is just done to change the look) before they can decide (consensual once they are mature enough is completely okay!) please do
As an intersex Muslim, this video was extremely helpful... Thank you ❤❤
Jazzak Allah khair
Is it compulsory for the intersex individuals described at 3:11 to surgically or chemically reduce all characteristics they exhibit that belong to the other sex? What if they are unable to?
No not compulsory. It’s just recently these surgeries were invented
Asalamwalikum aapi can you please give me reference.
Does anyone know if she has ever addresses FGM?
This was lovely, Sidra. I'm Christian and I'm also LGBT. I love that from your explanation it seems Islam takes care to understand different issues and find a solution for them, within the teachings of Islam, in order to assist Muslims who may be Intersex or may experience gender dysphoria, rather than resorting to shaming and shunning.
Don’t forget that she believes you are sinfull to the bone. I think she seems like a very nice, compassionate and intelligent women.
But I have now studied Islam in the past year and believe me, there are very dark things in this religion. (Things I consider dark).
Ninja Mommy has been very clear that she is not going to judge anyone- she has left that for Allah.

No, it's banned in Egyptian schools.

When you can't tell at birth and have to wait until they reach puberty to determine their gender, how will you raise them between then? Do you just guess their gender and raise them as that and hope that you made the right choice?
Nah. You raise them as a child. Yuh I know the critical situation but having patience helps. Stay blessed😊
I’m not a Muslim. It does make sense to me.
Genuine question: Is it possible to have xy chromosome but at the same time have capability to bear child?
in some cases yes, but there are also cases of people with XY being missing some genes on the Y and still physically presenting female
@@kamson8172 The only ones capable of getting pregnant are women.

Puberty makes mkre sense cause i was gonna say if they have a period regardless of parts woukdnt they be considered femsle in islam
Not just islam, but all the abrahamic religions are against homosexuality, but where as hinduism and buddhism is silent on this topic. but their scriptures have also not specified anything related to gay marriage and lesbain marriage. so it means even these 2 religions do not permit homosexuality. and most of the traditional buddhist and hindu scholars are against homosexualiy. .....
