What neuroscience fact has blown your mind from this show? Let us know in the comments!
None yet
I have a question what is the time and light
StarTalk you’re an astrophysicist Neil, not a neuroscientist. As such, we have not seen much about neuroscience. The closest I’ve gotten to neuroscience here is my neurons being burned alive by the facts that u put down on this channel.
The newest episode of invisibilia was about an implant that would shock certain parts of the brain to combat depression and anxiety. People then reported getting less sleep as a side effect, but they went from suicidal to normal and maybe even euphoric. Once the implant was turned off the effects went away instantly.
@@DiracComb.7585 there are neuroscientists on the stage.
the left side of the stage is like the back of the classroom
I had exactly the same tought
They should have had the stage setup like that too lmao.
they make this hard to watch
Dude😂
Some would say the front of the classroom depending on your perspective.
Eugene and Ian were following along quite well. Their collective wit is razor sharp.
The panel’s collaborative effort is to inform AND entertain. Lighten up there Mengele.
Academia, especially science, could use as many allies as possible considering the attack from our country’s own political powers.
NGT has a plan. Be part of his solution....not THE final solution’s solution that is.
THIS!!!!!! Is what the internet was built for. Intelligent, funny, thought-provoking discussion.
...i rly wish you were right..
If you knew what the internet was really built for, you'd cry yourself to sleep every night.
the internet was built for porn transferring, you idiot
Bullshit the internet is for real and truth. Not lies
@@RearAdmiralTootToot LOL In a way, that's actually true. The only thing people would connect to in the BBS time, was those pocket calendar posters of naked girls or pictures of porn magazines. If you wanted to test your setup and have a directory of pictures of cats, you'd get a couple visits per week, but with porn, you'd have hundreds per day. Nevertheless, it was the price, the coin if you will, used to setup what we have now, that fortunately is way beyond what anyone expected and keeps growing.
How is Paul Rudd always in these science talks??
Man is a legend!
😂
Because he was in Quantum Mania.. lol
I feel like this man actually has a degree in engineering or physics or something, what if he's underrated in his studies
@@sergioavila2512 he has a degree but too sheepish to admit it. I think.
What do you mean?!! He barely spoke at all !!! The better question would be, WHY was Paul there?
This is pure gold. My favourite geek celebrities on one stage.
omg you must be so very special.
Oh, look! A young troll. How cute.@@billyross8991
Paul Rudd most of the time: "what the hell am I doing here!?"
Like me. He tried to be all relevant and stuff in the beginning with the Mars terraforming article, then joked a little but then realized the conversation's going in a totally different direction where he's forgotten.
That's not true at all! Paul gets around. His experience with comedic acting and improv make him perfect for the stage right there with Eugene Mirman and Michael Ian Black. For each "host" there is a comedic counterpart. In fact, not saying that same thing about everyone on the stage is a bit insulting to their entertainment value.
He’s was like. Where is my💰?? Lol jk.
Lmao he was definitely babbling off on a tangent, he couldn't relate to the topics at hand lol. Nobodies fault
He's pointless.
I like how humble Paul is. Hardly speaks so he doesn’t make the others feel inferior.
😂
He's traveling though time at a slower rate than the rest of us.
Shame he didn't speak up. You would of thought de grass at his age would be a wise man. He is the opposite.
😆
He aint faking ..just a common.guy..divulging science is a noble task..but there is nothing exceptional about him..anyone with a good memory and average cognitive skills can retell science or anything for the matter
I wish we could do this this again in 2023. I'd love to hear this group talking about chatgpt and AI

I love how intelligence and humor so often go hand in hand. What a great panel.

I love Mayim. I could listen to her all day. Heather is cool, too.
She has an awesome CZcams channel and I can watch it all day, I concur.

I like how Mayim and Heather led this conversation, and while Eugene and Michael were consistently making little quips (which is their job, so I don't fault them), Paul mostly sat back and listened, chiming in only sometimes with about half comedy and half serious questions. Really a top-notch panel!
I think Paul Rudd was taking this whole thing a little more seriously. Which is actually nice to see.
I thought he felt embarrassed after his magazine comment and stayed quiet the rest of the time
I got bored of their jokes very quickly. To each his own.
@@regul8or71 I think the jokes between points are fine, as adding fun to some topics can help engage certain audience members. I did think interrupting Heather multiple times per point to make a joke was going too far though.

I love how scientists can have a conversation about a topic that can be incredibly polarizing in other contexts, but still be civil about it.
Makes you think about the intelligence of people who resort to insults and debate emotionally
Training in critical thinking and sticking to scientific facts is an amazing approach to civil discussions. :)
Quite refreshing to hear you people be aware of it. Seize the means of civil discourse!!!

Neil deGrasse Tyson is my actual hero. I could listen to this man talk and educate me all day. He never makes me feel stupid for not knowing what the hell is up there or how it works. He just wants to educate and that’s the sort of people we need more of in the world. Thank you Neil deGrasse Tyson
I got nothing to add. Valid observation 🤗
I agree with you...degrasse tyson is exceptional. I have only one thing that i think didn't get enough explanation; he was accused of beeing improper to two women. I know they were both dismissed, but i think Tyson should have made a statement or something....
The reason he never makes you feel stupid is because he's not intelligent. He has knowledge and experience, and that combination gives him credibility in his field, but he isn't intelligent. He was the only person on this panel I couldn't stand listening to, and for the first 10 minutes I couldn't figure out who Eugene Mirman was. His voice is super annoying until you realize he is Gene from Bob's Burgers, but even that was more tolerable than the deGrasse Kicking my ears took from listening to Neil Tyson pretend to be daft to the point where it didn't even seem like it was an act.

This was fantastic I thought at first Heather would be drown out but it turned out she was phenomenal at being herself and was helped out by her other female friend that the balance between comedy and science worked out perfectly... perfect panel for entertainment and fun but also thought provoking futuristic thoughts...

Heather and Mayim, I felt slightly ashamed even though I was no part of it.

I suppose comedians on the panel were intended to make it more palatable to people that may not understand the joke, however, I watched the full 2+ hours because I wanted to hear your Beautiful brains. Sadly, I feel we were wronged of that.
Love you both! Awesome, brilliant minds.
This is an absolute laugh riot from beginning to end for 127 minutes non-stop. The intersection of comedy & neuroscience is undeniably engaging and captivating. I don't think I've ever laughed and learnt simultaneously any subject for this long.

I met “David,” from Rosanne in between his roles and he somehow ended up at my space in Chicago during law school.
When he was waiting for his cab, I asked him about fame dynamics. He used a Jim Morrison quote without proper credit, I may add (lols), and brilliantly responded, “It’s the strangest life I’ve ever known.” Well my uncle Chris loved The Doors so I knew the quote. This ‘strange people’ meet I had, I just hope he may remember. Because, I was thrilled when I found out he did indeed, land another epic role. He is a cool kat!
It was in Ukrainian Village near Leona’s restaurant (deep dish pizza), just south of Wicker Park. It then was called, East Village. Things and definitions in re geography etc change.
Also I reference him as “David,” bc of the story context. And while I’ve seen, The Big Bang Theory, it was a bad time in my life and I will start to likely marathon it after this. And I also loved Blossom! Lols.
