You can also use it to create an infinite number of spell slots and sorcery points out of combat
I figured this out like last year, I was doing cleric run and would buff everyone with 50 different things every long rest, I’d use the restoration amulets and spell slot potions so I wouldn’t actually use any spell slots.
I’d use freecast for heroes feast, and one day I realised I still had the spell slot restoration amulet on. So I unequipped and coz I keep my passives on my main bar I saw freecast light up again…
Also you can make infinite sorcery points and spell slots with sorcerers out of combat with that… it still works

@@vicalonso6597agree with this 1000%. Don’t get why people would even play honor mode if they’re just gonna try to cheese their way through it. Just play custom mode with all the honor mode settings except for multiple saves turned on if you want to play like that.

I used this technique only for buffs after a long rest. Getting everyone fully buffed without using spell slots before combat.
I actually discovered this in my first play through when the game first came never posted about because I didn't want it to get patched but I guess it is about time someone else discovered iy
It also works if you have the illithid orb of confusion in your storage box and barely leave it's range, then re-enter the range. It's a bit finicky but easy to replicate in the inn camp setting.

I literally never use the powers cause i dont want anymore tadpoles in my head 😭
theres no downside other than some black lines on your face in the late game, but the powers are objectively worth it. you get permanent flight for free.
Yeah, just don't really want to use them for rp reasons. Considering maybe giving some to the companions who are more interested in trying it based on their dialogue but one tadpole does feel like it's enough.

You could unequip a ranged weapon if you don't use it.
You can have 2 hand crossbows equipped if you have the dual weilder feat (which some spellcasters get to dual wield wands).
Just combine this with the returning pike, unequip it after throwing and then reactivate the passive and throw, repeat ad-naus

Its the same with the staff of arcane bolstering and any of the other i believe 2 items with arcane bolstering thats how i made it through gortash battle was cheesing with the staff of arcane bolstering its also a nice alternative option if your in a playthrough where your tav/durge is strictly resisting all things worm related

Just use the free cast on create sorc points/spell slots. Then you don't have to worry about the unequip thing mid battle.

Before 1.3 it just was an infinitive thing. I finished the game before they added a long rest, as requirement

It should work. I don't see how this shouldn't work at least. Upside to this is you do a bit of damage alongside it, instead of just equipping your underwear again 😂

@@fernandozevallos1763 figured as much. Would be cool if that was an exploitable bug cuz the spell doesn’t actually say limited to one and those things do so much heavy lifting late game. They really are broken with their HP, mobility, and damage output.
Sadly doing this still uses lay on hand charges for the Paladin

Fixed in patch 6 for those who are curious. Freecast was bugged too it would never reset unless you did the trick in the video. So long resting didnt actually reset it.
Which patch sorry? I haven't updated since February when I got the game do you think it will still work for me?
@@Hartley672 it should. It was still bugged before patch 6 so if you havent updated it should still be bugged. Althought this depends when you got the game. I believe patch 6 released a bit after Valentine's day I believe it was the 16th. you can also just check the game version when launching the game.
The problem is that free cast doesn't actually refresh on a long rest. Which I was bummed about. You have to use this just to get to use it the normal 1x.

this is a very old bug, i thought Larian fixed it in patch 5. guess not.

This was bugged where it wouldnt work unless i unequiped aomething or equipped something new. Same with arcane battery. This is on ps5 before honor mode came out... i winder if i missed out on what was really going on damn

What about unequipping your instrument and torch? That should be 2 more items you can unequip
The instrument works, but for some reason the torch doesn't

However, it's kinda of an interesting concept. While abusing this glitch, I imagined my character removing his load bearing training equipment like Goku or Rock Lee, and it was amazing.

Not a "hidden spell interaction", an exploit rather.
For some reason my free cast would just not be toggleable when i tried using it. Ps5 has been known for bugs so i just assumed it was that.
You can use it outside of combat too
This is why i can't take free cast anymore because i will inevitability abuse this exploit and feel dirty
