With patch 7 Releasing Today the Bounty is closed and it went unclaimed. I figured I would have had someone claim it within a week of posting this tbh. Guess it really wasn't in the game for patch 6. Need more time to see if it is in patch 7?
For people who don't know, the Halsin "portal defense" quest is completely trivialized by simply casting darkness over the portal and making it not targetable from range.
I always do this, and the shadow-cursed humanoids take their sweet time trying to run to the portal to melee attack it, so the real priority is making sure ravens/shadows/shadow creepers don’t get too close.
@@lawrencefosterjenkins8216 My point is that the ranged attacks have always been the only vaguely challenging part of the quest. Especially if someone in the party has the Blood on Lathander making every other melee enemy a blind, useless pushover. So the "darkness over the portal" trick factually makes the defense basically risk-free even on Honor mode.
people use the word "game" for real life all the time. And "too early in the game" is a pretty common phrase to use in any kind of real life project, task, or event
@@danielgrantham3756 really? …this isn’t about how hard it is to hit level 11 in act 2, it’s about grinding every single point of xp in those two acts, every single one, and doing it AGAIN to make sure he didn’t miss out on anything. And thus finding out that you could technically even get to level 12 in Act 1, were you insane enough. This is a comment on his dedication to video game journalism, not how awesome he is for hitting level 11 twice.
@@ProxyGateTactician Technically possible, practically impossible! But it's still extremely impressive that you found even a theoretical path to it. I love your BG3 content and watch every one of them.
@@ProxyGateTactician is there any graphic settings that starts clearing corpses past some point or Larian haven't learned about fixing their memory leaks hogging up the game size in memory they had since Divine Divinity? No jokes, I stopped playing their games before exactly because at some point it just became a slide-show on old PC as they remember the state of every item. BG definitely does some clean-up at story points (I had everything I dropped in camps at the party - I roleplayed so hard it was all covered in bottles, pieces of food, and green puddles of questionable liquids, but when I moved to Mountain Pass it cleared EVERYTHING and put trash into our travel chest) so maybe you can force the game to unload clutter midway by just entering another area?
The trigger for Karlach's fourth wall break scene is flagged as "IMPOSSIBLE" both in the current patch files, and in the version 1.0 files. Also, the camera positions during the scene are clearly unfinished, popping around to random spots. So it seems pretty unlikely that it's intentionally accessible in the game.
Absolutely agree with you. If you do the cutscene on any elevation it's completely messed up, but so many people claimed to have seen it that I decided to give them a chance + incentive to show it. I liked the theory some people shared that it was a bug where one cutscene triggers in place of the correct one in error. I'll be interested to see if someone posts a method anyways.
@@ProxyGateTactician Right, can't completely rule out some sort of bug that triggered the wrong file. But since you wisely specified that the method needs to be reproducible, I think your money is safe hahah
@@SlimXG Yeah I mainly wanted it reproducible so that someone doesn't download the mod -> post the video -> and go hey send me my money. It's not enough proof lol I feel pretty confident it's safe as well, but it's fun reading people go off to search and post theories
@@ProxyGateTactician Thats a good troll if that is, it is triggerable as early as you recruit Karlach, already left comment about it, but maybe it also somehow connected to not completing all dialogue in grove, not clearing goblin site, not having full party slots(i had Shadow heart and Astarion) , not using Long rest(never used it, because thinked game actually putted us on timer for 7 days) . Jumping to the place throw rocks? I am not sure if i werent suppose to get Karlach before i beat Furbolgs or what are the hiegna things are. Were just talking to Karlach almost right away. Maybe you also need to give her fire sword from that demon on the ship, used command to make him drop it. So try it too? Dont use any healing potions or other stuff like that that one time use. I had magic gloves for catching missles, and played on normal difficulty, Honestly if thats not a joke tell me later, i might just deal with stuff that i planned for few games and download bg3 just to record it. Had that cutscene ~5 month ago, game still had pretty big bugs, so i was mad about it, like interface broke during gate fight, my spells returned to default mid tutorial, something else was breaking too. Were so mad that after i were oneshotted a bunch of times by boss in Goblin camp i dropped game.
@@ProxyGateTactician Oh waw there is even bounty, sorry didnt finish video, i am sure you will lose that money pretty fast, like as soon as someone will see this video they will record it.
On myth 2, that comes from tabletop DnD, where no animal larger than a peacock is allowed in BG3. This is for a few different reasons, one of which being how wet the roads are all the time due to the fact they are right on the ocean line. And the fact that the entire city is sloping slightly. So animals that are larger could conceivably injure someone. This is mentioned in Faerun lore.
Enlarge / Reduce is coded WEIRDLY, somehow by making medium characters small, they still cannot fit into holes, but by casting disguise self (her default domain skill), Shadowheart somehow fit into that topaz hole in the Underdark, despite only, I assume, slouching really hard.
Old commemt but it sounds like they hard coded the baldurs gate aninal thing and fitting to holes by appropriate creature type rather than size tags. Have you tried the inverse of casting enlarge person on something that'd nornally fit?
That's odd. There's a small hole that leads to the back of the owlbear cavern. I didn't know that at the time so I casted reduce on my character to investigate and was able to go through it.
The peacock law implementation is very impressive from Larian. I believe the lore is decades old and pre-dates Larian's game. I noticed a lot of the dragonborn NPCs in this game seem to be good at performance (singing or instruments). Does anyone know if that's influenced by DnD lore or is just a coincidence?
It could be because of how rare Dragonborn are in Baldur’s Gate. The ones with visible jobs are the shopkeeper, the two bards (that I know of), a druid, the brothel attendant and the butler. Those aren’t very prestigious jobs so maybe it’s what the Dragonborn had to settle for because of… discrimination or something?
In the PHB their base race has a +1 to Charisma. Plus, as you said, they're unusual, look striking (they're pretty big so have a powerful presence) and mature pretty quick so probably take life experiences in better than most.
I think Peacock rule is older than even first Baldur's Gate game - I think og Ed Greenwood wrote about the rule somewhere first but not sure, weird it's hard to search for the origins. Anyway there were people breeding larger and larger peacocks for profit - to move the size goalpost in the outer city, which is hilarious mix of bureaucracy meeting law-breaking, so very on point for that city.
as someone who has way too much knowledge about forgotten realms lore, can confirm that the peacock rule is not a larian creation. it's so funny to me to see them get that niche knowledge correct and then completely fuck up the lore of a bunch of other things (which is reasonable, don't get me wrong, my poor multiplayer companions just have to hear The Netheril Rant every time we play)
@@Keely_OReally and before you go you dont know me or how would you know is because it takes literal months to do and toke a dude almost a year you did not sit and grind a single fight for months on end to almost a full year lol
@@Burning_the_toast except it was me b/c I was one those people who got to level 99 just by running around fighting random foes. I'm not talking about the remake, I'm talking about the original FF7. I also did in FF8 too. I still have my memory card for my old playstations. You know back in 90s early 2000s. Yeah. You don't know me.
I found another infinite XP exploit before Act 3. In Gith Greche there is a Gremishka cat inside a chest the Gith kids are playing with. When I started fighting it, it's reaction to cantrips was spawning a new Gremishka. Every turn. So it's +3 xp every turn you cast a cantrip or a spell.
Technically speaking, with the Ghek encounter and the Zombies. Could you have someone push/throw some of the corpses into the river/chasm (thus despawning them) to keep the number of them at a (comparatively) manageable level?
@@4m4n40 yep, tried it myself and it does indeed not work, the corpses remain. However, you can loot the corpses and put them into chests so it's still plausible to farm those zombies for xp
If you're among the many who are confident you ran into the Karlach 4th wall break be sure to share any info you have. May be able to help others to hunt down the trigger for it. I'd honestly love to see someone find it. It could be a case of being super rare, but no one was looking. I'd be surprised though.
It's good that you are sceptical of the claims of the cutscene, sounds like a clear case of the Mandela Effect, made even worse by the popularity of Karlach. Best wishes to those secret finders but if the code says not triggerable then that is the most likely scenario, people have seen the video of the conversation and miss-remembered it in their own game
@@Besieged1927 That's how I feel yeah. All people claiming to have seen it only posted after Chubblot's video was posted. Not 1 post about it before then, but afterwards a lot popped up. THEN like 4+ months after his video is not being seen as often and no one mentions it at all again.
I 100% triggered it on my first play through, It was Act 3, I did not romance any character, Though Karlach was positive reputation. But thats all I remember since i didnt know it was significant at the time. Im not confused with the other cutscene, definitly triggered organically
@@_gerg act 3 eh? Interesting. Really do wonder what the trigger could be. Was it a long time ago by chance? I almost wonder if it was in patch 1 and then removed or something at this point
@ProxyGateTactician I played a while after it won the game of the year, I do remember the scene sort of coming out from nowhere, as in I wasn't at camp. I didnt ever use my illithid powers or use any worms either.
@@ProxyGateTacticianmy guess is they haven’t put in the trigger yet and its intended to be part of patch 7 or whatever the deme to be the “last patch.” Or it was going to be an easter egg but then got turned into cut content. Which explains why the va thought it was in the game.
@@purplepenguin43 Even if there is trigger, its has one pretty sad characteristic... Its random. Soul coin dialogue can just not trigger for 7 long rests in a row, while it as well can be triggered by first one. That something that i was surprised when i saw, because i had a coin before, in my first playthroug where i got 4th wasll curscene(or at least i think i got it) , and i got all the way to goblins camp and fighted 2 bosses and nothing. With restarts rewalks, it just didnt trigger, till i started spamming long rests for 4th wall trigger check. Wanted to at least trigger soul coin, which i did. If anything it can be insanely rare no requarments curscene, For now i didnt see any preventions of 4th wall curscene or requarments in code.
If you struggle with the Halsin portal encounter and need to create a wall, here’s my method and I’ve never failed this little quest on any difficulty including HM. Step 1. Summon darkness on the portal and use either devils site with a warlock, or ever sight ring from the morgue. Step 2. Have the character with magical blindness immunity sit in the darkness to pick off the teleporting hounds Step 3. WALL OF FIRE all of the bottom of that rock and just sit up there with a sorcerer or something that uses the wall of fire Step4. Spirit guardian+boots of speed+haste or a speed potion will just destroy every single creature. Step 5. The 5th party member should just be a heavy hitting tank and just sit there either dodging every hit with an insane AC or just doing mad DPH. The main thing is the darkness and darkness immunity. You gain advantage in any enemy that comes to hit the portal, it makes them NEED to come into melee distance cus the archers have to get into a weird place to actually shoot it. Hope this helps anyone
Interesting. Frankly I’ve never had a problem as long as I use wall of fire. It usually kills more than 3/4 of the enemies, and then you just focus the archers. But then again, i usually have some sort of radiant damage for the shadows/wraith
@@kingofgrim4761 I’ve just heard a lot of people struggle with this. I’ve only struggled with one fight in BG, and that was Merkyl (can’t remember how to spell it). Destroyed Raph on my first ever attempt, and I was in HM for my first attempt, and I don’t really cheese the game massively for ludicrous damage. So thought I’d leave a tip for the portal as it’s very easy to defend IMO
@@meepmeeped4815 ayyy same. Once I understood the mechanics it was smooth sailing, Merkyl and the house of grief are the only fights I think are difficult and the latter is mainly if you don’t have a way to see in darkness
This is pretty much how I do it as well, barely even have to move or attack once set up :D Some combination of darkness, wall of fire, hunger of hadar, spike growth, spirit guardians... there's plenty of ways to trivialize this encounter. I don't really understand crate stackers and barrel-mancers, it seems so tedious and boring, there isn't even any reason to use it, unless you're doing some challenge.
Honestly, I've found that Hypnotic Pattern basically trivializes it. Drop a Darkness on the portal, use Hypnotic Pattern on a (wide) area of the nearest enemies. Reapply Hypnotic Pattern when more mobs spawn in/get into the same area as everything else. I didn't explicitly check, but they must have very low WIS, because it seems like the spell CCs all of them or almost all of them and keeps them locked down. Easy to conventionally destroy the one or two that resist.
5:30 WAIT THATS ME, IM THE GUY THAT POSTED THAT idk if the myth has been busted or not yet but it absolutely worked when I did it because it restricted movement and enemies attacks couldn’t beat the threshold, and I used darkness to cover the portal
There is an idea for myth 1 - stumbled across this just today: In the moonrise towers there is a quest to free deep gnomes from the prison. What happened is I just decided to break the wall in their prison cell with Agonizing Blast from my Warlock. Gnomes started to run, but were eventually caught by guards + the flying Absolute eye. This eye was very far away and I could not kill it, however each turn it would scream for reinforcements - resulting in 2 new enemies each turn. I was hoping that those guards come from upstairs and will run out eventually at some point. But It seemed no end to those guys. I was playing honour mode, so I cant load back and test if they are trully endless, but I checked upstairs hoping that there would be empty tower - I was wrong again. Everyone stood on their places
It's not endless it does eventually pull them from upstairs. If you are upstairs it even pulls them from downstairs. There are random guards from the docks, and near Kethrics bedroom etc that get pulled first. After a while the eyes run out of people to call. It takes a very long time though if you didn't kill anyone before the eyes start doing that.
So what I’m seeing is that Larian cut the Karlach 4th wall break but didn’t tell the voice actress. And so when it leaked she thought it was still in the game, thus she made that snide comment about “yanking” the data without “context”, not realizing the only way people saw that part of her performance was because of data mining. Great example of how miscommunication can be a headache for everybody.
I was sure I triggered the 4th wall break by myself just after finding her, but man, since you said it's pretty much impossible it might be some crazy mandela effect
I'm so happy to see a new video of this sort! Myth 1: Maybe you could throw the corpses into borromless chasms (I'm not sure but doesn't the lake next to the beach count as one as well, or do all corpses thrown in there wash up on the shore?) and have them be gone? Maybe the game doesn't delete the bodies even though they're technically lost, as sometimes you can see bodies kinda "floating" in chasms, but I would assume they are deleted after reaching below some point in the z-axis 🤔 So that could be a way to deal with the lag. Myth 3: "Ending their turn while the portal took 0 damage" - Why is the portal missing hp then? 🧐 (jk) Myth 4: Samantha implying it's in the game does not necessarily mean it actually is reachable without cheats. I've also tried around a little bit, mainly with respeccing Karlach into a Cleric in different parts of the game and long resting/talking to her a few times but I lost interest relatively quick. They obviously recorded that bit and put it into the game, but for whatever reason, it may have been cut without the VA being made aware - why would you even notify the VA about every single decision made during the project? This is not to say it's definitely not in the game, but I agree with you that right now, there's no hard evidence suggesting it's triggerable without cheats. ...but now there's a bounty on Karlach's head (so to speak) so I may or may not be looking further into this 😈
The second you mentioned Gekh's Minions, I immediately heard "Live to Win" in my head. One of my favorite Southpark episodes definitely left a mark on my brain. I never thought I would experience similar madness in real life. You have my respect! :D
Ooof, this came out pretty much right after I killed Deurgar McZomboi in my Honour run. I could have used that 3xp trickle. It's been going rough. Fantastic work as always, Proxy!
Cartman That's why we just need to log in and stay in the forest, killing boars. Kyle Boars? Cartman There's lots of computer-generated boars in Warcraft that die with just one blow. Kyle Dude, boars are only worth two experience points apiece. Do you know how many we would have to kill to get up 30 levels? Cartman Yes. Sixty-five million three hundred and forty thousand two hundred and eighty five. Which should take us seven weeks five days thirteen hours and twenty minutes, giving ourselves three hours a night to sleep. What do you say, guys?
I like coming back to this video a month after starting the xp spreadsheet, because it's shown me something I missed/miscounted. Apparently the portal defense xp is wrong in the spreadsheet, doesn't add up to the 1259 xp you got from it, so cheers for that. Thank God for youtube
This video was awesome! The thing with XP, on my Honour run I entered Act 3 about a 3rd of the way to level 11. My friends that play all asked "how??? There's no way, how could you be level 10 when entering Act 3?" My answer was "I killed everything that wasn't a teifling, druid, gnome, or mushroom in Act 1 and had my hand forced on killing LITERALLY EVERYONE in Moonrise (gaining enemy of justice on my durge really made Act 2 "fun" ) and then found and killed every other mob available in Act 2 that isn't a Harper, gnome, or teifling." So I assumed a proper murderhobo could get to level 12 before Act 3. That you found a way for it to be technically possible: I take my hat off to you.
I once got a dialouge option near the docks in act 3 where you save volo that made karlach give a glance to the camera and make a deadpool style joke, i thought that was what you refered to and after watching a youtube video i have been left heavily creeped out.
Yeah I like the theory some of the speedrunners have that it's a bug of one cutscene triggering in place of another at the wrong time. They're trying to find something along those lines.
There is also the origin rest cutscene with Karlach that can only trigger if you've met Dammon and rested before leaving the crash landing, which is impossible.
@@ProxyGateTactician I'm pretty sure is not a bug or cut content, unless it was enabled on a patch and then disabled in the next a few months ago. I encountered it and nothing felt unfinished about it. It just felt like an homage to the android in the starting menu of Detroit Become Human.

@@ProxyGateTactician I wouldn't be surprised if it was some kind of glitch, that is already fixed... especially with every new patch coming out, it could have been a small change between one patch and the next... If that were the case it would be impossible now to proof it unless you get the game at all the different stages, including early access (if Karlach was already in early access) and then you would have to rifle through every possible dialogue option with every character to ensure that nothing could have triggered it, that also includes of course the possibility of killing specific characters or avoiding killing specific characters... I personally believe that the Fourth Wall Breaking was an idea that was put into the game in case you use F5/F8 too often in a conversation with her or let her wait too long (similary to how in Far Cry certain thing sget triggered if you wait too long without doing anything). That could also explain why they said you can't get the cutscene if they just Obi-Wan Kenobi it with the _from a certain point of view_ with saying something like "we meant that if you play the game normally you couldn't trigger it" or something like that. By now they could have changed that with patches... or ghey just wanted to mess with us and put it into the game for the people who have nothing better to do then to datamine... 😂
Did you see that post on r/bg3 where someone got to level 12 before the end of act 2? They did it by using two player characters to gain a ton of xp from recruiting minthara (lvl6) as soon as possible, making use of the mechanic where a character joining the active party gets the same xp number as the highest current member. They also used the same mechanic to maximize inspiration xp, and they delayed certain points of exploration xp until they were lvl 11.
I’ve wondered about myth 1 for the sole reason of getting an oath breaker to level 12 and casting control undead on Ketheric or Myrkul. Thanks for confirming it’s not feasible.
I love how much you can break the game with barrels/crates I made a spiral staircase of crates on top of the druid's grove gate once, you can go so high up that you unload the environment lighting data
yo just want to say i think you are on of the few people that i watch every single video they have made, i dont know how they are all so entertaining but they are please never stop making them they are amazing
The Karlach wall break gives me Detroit: Become Human vibes from the main screen on that game. Karlach asking questions to the player specifically is almost unsettling...
In the game the scene is offputting, but Karlach eases you into it first, she tells you that she wants to try something weird but harmless, and them BAM she's looking right at you asking you weird questions.
The myth of hitting max level probably comes from the now patched issue of being able to claim xp from killing enemies you’ve already persuaded to not be aggressive. This was triggered when you persuaded them and then closed and opened the game. I was almost level 9 going into act 2 because of unintentionally doing this.
i saw someone else say you could triple your xp by passing conversation to avoid combat, saving loading, knocking them out, saving loading and then killing them
absolute mad man uploads this video a couple of days after I start my work on spreadsheet tracking all the xp sources in the game. I'm not mad, but relieved. However, I can't let the job go unfinished so I'm continuing it anyway.
I’ll be interested in comparing if yours is around the same as the numbers I had then. I’m sure there’s a couple things I missed. Like knocking out Rolan in act 1 messed up his quest line during act 2. It didn’t mess up anyone else
@@ProxyGateTactician I'm getting there as far as totals go, and doing some napkin maths I'm around the same number you're at. But at this point I think the discrepancy is so small that if we did everything perfectly you wouldn't be able to hit level 12 by the end of act 2. But at the very least you'd hit level 11 comfortably even if you're not doing anything weird or killing Raphael or Oathbreaker Knight. I'm still cataloguing act 2 but when I'm done I can give some concrete numbers.
a week later update. I've counted a possible 26,000ish (this number can be higher since I know that I've missed stuff) xp to be had in act 1. So if there's 74000 xp to be had in act 2, then we can safely say that it's plausible to reach level 12 by the end of act 2. I'm still tallying act 2 but where I'm at with my notes I'm around level 9 with a decent chunk of the act left. I will update again when I reach a definitive total.
@@willowman6938 26,000 in act 1 isn't even level 8 is it? I thought it's 30k for level 8. I had about 36,000 at end of act 1 I'm pretty sure (unless I'm making some mistake now?)
@@ProxyGateTactician it's 4k off from level 8. But I know that I've missed a handful of quests simply because I was either locked out of them or I just forgot. Half of Emerald Grove I missed quest-wise because of this and other reasons, chief of which was that I was tallying xp under the assumption that you're killing everything in sight with few quests done. I can say now that it's not very efficient but doing it can get you very close to level 8, but really what you want to do is as many quests as possible as well as killing stuff but only if they aren't tied to later quests.
If you were higher level than Ketheric in the final battle and were playing an Oathbreaker paladin, then you could use Control Undead on the Apostle of Myrkul (and soft lock the game as he wouldn't drop his netherstone).
My favorite thing to do with the portal defense is just to make a maze out of crates and barrels and have it be a race to see if they'll make it or not. They normally don't attack crates as long as there's a viable path to where they're going, from my experience
I’m pretty sure in one of the patches, they made it so summons and class companions don’t trigger guards following because many players found it annoying… don’t know if I’m remembering right, but it sounds vaguely familiar
I didn't use mods or anything in my first 3 runs, and I wasn't watching videos about the game to avoid spoilers, and I am almost sure that I got Karlach saying that randomly in camp during act 3... but I can't remember which playthrough. On second thought, maybe Mandela Effect.
@ProxyGateTactician Spoke with my wife. I told her about it but didn't show her a video. That means I definitely didn't watch a video about it, or I would have sent it to her. There's no way I would have seen a CZcams video of it and not sent it to her or brought my phone over to show it to her. I am, like, 90% sure it can be triggered. I'll try to fiddle with things and document what I do. My first three runs were as a 1) Tav dating Shadowheart because she is a princess but I was best friends with Karlach. She said she wanted to be a mindflayer as the only solution to her problem 2) Karlach dating Wyll, and then Wyll broke up with me, I refused to be a mindflayer or go to the hells, so I perished, and 3) as a Tav dating Karlach and went to the hells with her. I'm pretty sure it wasn't in my first run, because I'm pretty sure I said "wow, I can't believe there is even more content" when I saw the scene. So one of those must have had the trigger. Gotta be. Unless I am actually just extremely Mandela'd.
I heard the Karlach cutscene organically with my brother in our first playthrough! We thought it was a funny easter egg. I have no idea how it triggered, and didn't know it wasn't something everyone saw until now. It happened while we were walking down to the river from the left side of the bridge to wyrm's rock, but I have no other info and no real proof :/
Fun fact: you can shoot arrows through many obstacles in bg3, but you can't throw weapons through most, which is one of the two reasons I find thrower builds annoying, despite them being mechanically amazing
@@ProxyGateTactician ah, that explains it! I live in New Zealand, which has a very depopulated timezone, but your videos come out at just the right time for me. Half or more of the channels I sub to release around 4am my time. I always assumed it's something to do with ad revenue optimisation for the US market.
I was screen sharing the Karlach scene. It was outside the goblin camp after having killed them and wanting to move to the underdark. I opened my flyer menu and had nothing upgraded. Then I saw an ''!'' above Karlach I don't know what I did but she did not break the 4th wall for me but instead talked about something else. About how it feels familiar. Pretty short scene. My sister (who'm I was screensharing to) told me to reload the file and pick a different option. I reloaded the file back to after having just defeated the goblins and nope. It wasn't there anymore. I walked to the same bridge and did the same menu things. So then I watched on google.
I’m probably thinking way too far into this but whatever. The guards could still be attacking the large animals because they know that the only way to make animals that small is through magical means that would ware off eventually, which would violate the peacock rule. This also goes for making the animals larger as well. As for the dog it could be reasonably for the guards to believe the dog was normally that size as in real life and DND dogs grow to different sizes depending on the bread.
Bit old, but I remember when I was doing the moonrise prison break out, my friends and I started combat and left the seeing eye in the floor above the warden alone without aggroing it. We found however, that it seemed to spawn an endless amount of guards which actually overwhelmed us forcing us to retreat. I'm not sure whether it's actually infinite, but it definitely spawned farm more guards than were in moonrise, and it didn't affect the guard numbers in the rest of the tower.
Barrels rule, crates drool! (Was also reminded of the hidden third monk subclass's ability to make impassable blocks that you detailed in an earlier video.)
Based on the (probable lies) from others, my best guess for the karlach cutscene would be directly after loading a save, and talking to her. Almost nothing else matches up for how they would’ve triggered it, since some said bad approval some said relationship, but most said act 3 I’ve seen
@@ProxyGateTactician yeah it’s sad that so many lied about it. Once I have access to my bg3 I might try a few things to attempt it, but I know for sure I never seen it in all my playthroughs
Karlach breaks the 4th wall all the time. She saied something like "its a bit too early in the game for tragic backstory reveals" in my game which was hilarious.
This is super late, and super minor, but re: that Halsin portal quest....I actually found out at least within the last couple of weeks or so it's possible to heal the portal if things get too wild!
100% think it's possible as a bug. My friend and i were playing online and she tried talking to the owlbear cub. We were in the underdark camp taking a long rest before going to act 2. Heard her say "what the hell" used the listen in functionality and it was playing the cutscene from the Goblin camp where you talk to Krolla. So she was able to trigger a completely incorrect scene from an entirely different part of act 1. Truly one of the weirdest bugs I've seen lolol.
There's another, still very long, but less laggy way to get Lv12 in act 1 we discovered recently. When Gremishka splits to Magic Allergy, both copies also have chance to split and both copies give 3 xp. It's not much, but those bodies do not stack and lag AND their amount growth is exponential. Still a ton of work to make it work out, we are looking at killing ~30000 Gremishka.
I’m not sure if that would be quicker or not tbh, but if there’s no lag that does solve one problem at least lol. Cool find though! How many can you farm in an hour?
@@ProxyGateTactician I still did not personally have time to dedicate to the experiment, I don't have duergar save at that spot in game and too lazy to do that. I tried to optimize it for less race-bound class but couuld not find a good spot where I could cast cantrips while unaccessible by Gremishka in Rosymorn, and sadly portable gremishka chest (from Infirmary) has script bound to location, so I could no release it on grymforge platform which would be the best option. So far the theory is that we can use duergar invis to cast minor illusion a ton of times next to gremishka without triggering battle, do some non-dex AOE cleansing, battle reset, next wave. Without this, we got like 100 xp per hour with a ton of consumables wasted :D
I have 100% seen a cut scene with Karlach that broke the 4th wall. She said something like "Are you having fun?" while looking at the camera. She also did say something about the world if I remember correctly. I am pretty sure it was in Act I. But I can't remember when or how this got triggered. It was 6 month ago. I did recruit her pretty late in act one. Maybe that has something to do with it?
yeah, im an EA player and i remember i was big on karlach my first playthrough. didnt go well with the tieflings so i started a new playthrough. and that was when i got the dialogue. she was very distraught about realizing this was a game and then asked if i was having fun. i said yes and she was so relieved
You can maximize xp by bringing the right companion or hirelings to each event in game in order to trigger inspiration. Insipiration gives xp so you'd need to bring the perfect combination of backgrounds to every single event to maximize it. Also I think there was a bug where you could get xp twice by talking your way out of a fight, then killing people with some save and reload shenanigans. And finally soldier background gets inspiration if you kill 10 enemies in one fight and if you kill 5 enemies in one turn so you could focus on merging different fights to achieve these conditions as often as possible.
Inspirations aren’t shared but ur right you could do it for a companion to get them a few hundred ahead of ur own char. The xP bug was one I had originally found yeah but it was patched out long ago
@@ProxyGateTactician Surely in that case you could spend loads of gold at Withers to keep on resetting your class so it is the right one for inspiration. I doubt you could get enough money or there is enough available inspiration for 12k xp but it could help.
I didn't know people were trying to barricade Halsin's Portal. I've always just cast Darkness to block the arrows and had someone with Spirit Guardians stand in front or put up a Wall of Fire. 😂
I swear I tried doing that my last time around but they still shot through it. Maybe I didn’t place it exactly right? Idk but I do know I also spent 1k gold on a wall of stone scroll because I thought that would work but alas it did not.
I’m approaching level 7 in act 1 just by trying to cover more side quests than in my first playthrough (about to do the fight at the adamantine forge) it’s much further than I thought I’d get at this point 😀
With patch 7 Releasing Today the Bounty is closed and it went unclaimed. I figured I would have had someone claim it within a week of posting this tbh. Guess it really wasn't in the game for patch 6. Need more time to see if it is in patch 7?
Gradually increase the bounty for every patch and see how long it takes lmao
@@Mxieherewell there wont be any more major patches, this was the last one
@@witchamy oh :( dang
For people who don't know, the Halsin "portal defense" quest is completely trivialized by simply casting darkness over the portal and making it not targetable from range.
WHY DIDN'T I THINK OK THAT! omg lol I feel dumb but ty xD
@@TucoBenedicto I mean that was also my point…
Hot damn, why didn't I think of that, that was a brilliant idea.

You were insane enough to grind to level 11 once. And then just…decided to do it over again. Just like that.
Wait... I thought everyone hit lvl 11 in act 2... It's not that hard

@@danielgrantham3756 no, thats not fckin normal lmfao. you reach lvl 10 after some decent amounts of grinding.
@LadyYuipha There's no way there is enough XP in act 1 to reach level 12
Interestingly with the method you discovered, you can even reach level 12 even before entering act 2, so that is even more impressive.
lol true, but also absolutely insane to think how many hours that would take + corpses you'd need to dispose of
@@ProxyGateTactician Technically possible, practically impossible!
For sure there’s something that triggers it because the corpses are replaced by little bags, but I don’t know what causes that
@@ProxyGateTactician I thought long resting did that but I honestly don't know for sure
It's not enough proof lol
I feel pretty confident it's safe as well, but it's fun reading people go off to search and post theories
"We hang out in the forest, killing boars."
I had a friend who did the karlach easter egg, but you wouldn’t know him. He went to a different school
They can't poop so they had to learn performance to release all that weight on their souls.

I 100% triggered it on my first play through, It was Act 3, I did not romance any character, Though Karlach was positive reputation. But thats all I remember since i didnt know it was significant at the time. Im not confused with the other cutscene, definitly triggered organically

If you struggle with the Halsin portal encounter and need to create a wall, here’s my method and I’ve never failed this little quest on any difficulty including HM. Step 1. Summon darkness on the portal and use either devils site with a warlock, or ever sight ring from the morgue.
Step 2. Have the character with magical blindness immunity sit in the darkness to pick off the teleporting hounds
Step 3. WALL OF FIRE all of the bottom of that rock and just sit up there with a sorcerer or something that uses the wall of fire
Step4.
5:30 WAIT THATS ME, IM THE GUY THAT POSTED THAT
idk if the myth has been busted or not yet but it absolutely worked when I did it because it restricted movement and enemies attacks couldn’t beat the threshold, and I used darkness to cover the portal
Others here have said that they simply cast darkness on the portal and that's enough.
Darkness alone completely makes the fight a joke
No point in blocking the target if the enemies just cannot hit it at all
There is an idea for myth 1 - stumbled across this just today:
In the moonrise towers there is a quest to free deep gnomes from the prison.
@@ProxyGateTactician Gotcha :(
So what I’m seeing is that Larian cut the Karlach 4th wall break but didn’t tell the voice actress. And so when it leaked she thought it was still in the game, thus she made that snide comment about “yanking” the data without “context”, not realizing the only way people saw that part of her performance was because of data mining. Great example of how miscommunication can be a headache for everybody.
Or he just was just trolling to keep a air of mystery and secrecy around it and have people forever trying to find it and wondering.
🧐 (jk)
Myth 4: Samantha implying it's in the game does not necessarily mean it actually is reachable without cheats.

This video was awesome! The thing with XP, on my Honour run I entered Act 3 about a 3rd of the way to level 11. My friends that play all asked "how??? There's no way, how could you be level 10 when entering Act 3?" @@slain_samuraii366I wish you luck, it’s $500 for ya if you can don’t forget
Behold the power of Barrelmancy!!!
I’ve wondered about myth 1 for the sole reason of getting an oath breaker to level 12 and casting control undead on Ketheric or Myrkul. Thanks for confirming it’s not feasible.
I love how much you can break the game with barrels/crates
I made a spiral staircase of crates on top of the druid's grove gate once, you can go so high up that you unload the environment lighting data
yo just want to say i think you are on of the few people that i watch every single video they have made, i dont know how they are all so entertaining but they are please never stop making them they are amazing
Thanks for that :) I'll try! I've got a huge list of videos still to make for bg3 at least
Hey my friends get mad at me for collecting all the boxes and crates & barrels! Now I can use them! lol XD good video!
Barrels being just as useful for defense is a great thing to know
The Karlach wall break gives me Detroit: Become Human vibes from the main screen on that game. Karlach asking questions to the player specifically is almost unsettling...
In the game the scene is offputting, but Karlach eases you into it first, she tells you that she wants to try something weird but harmless, and them BAM she's looking right at you asking you weird questions.
Okay, the Karlach cutscene thing is interesting, but the peacock law is _amazing_ . 🤣
You did an XP gathering test, awesome! That's some real dedication to do it twice, bravo.
The myth of hitting max level probably comes from the now patched issue of being able to claim xp from killing enemies you’ve already persuaded to not be aggressive. This was triggered when you persuaded them and then closed and opened the game. I was almost level 9 going into act 2 because of unintentionally doing this.
i saw someone else say you could triple your xp by passing conversation to avoid combat, saving loading, knocking them out, saving loading and then killing them
It got patched out not long after I found that. Like within a couple weeks
absolute mad man uploads this video a couple of days after I start my work on spreadsheet tracking all the xp sources in the game.
I usually cast darkness on helsings portal, always works to protect it 😊
If you were higher level than Ketheric in the final battle and were playing an Oathbreaker paladin, then you could use Control Undead on the Apostle of Myrkul (and soft lock the game as he wouldn't drop his netherstone).
You’re right at launch everyone used to run away from bears and stuff and it was annoying lol
I didn't use mods or anything in my first 3 runs, and I wasn't watching videos about the game to avoid spoilers, and I am almost sure that I got Karlach saying that randomly in camp during act 3... but I can't remember which playthrough.
On second thought, maybe Mandela Effect.
Yeah im curious if it's Mandela or not tbh. It's exciting people are looking now though. Speedrunner discord jumped on it
@ProxyGateTactician Spoke with my wife.
Damn, that bounty is gonna make me put another 1000 hours into the game
Good luck! Excited to see a lot of people searching now
4th wall break will appear if you create multiple playthroughs during act 1
Fun fact: you can shoot arrows through many obstacles in bg3, but you can't throw weapons through most, which is one of the two reasons I find thrower builds annoying, despite them being mechanically amazing
I’m weirdly awake when this got uploaded- cool!
Yeah lol I live in Asia so my upload times are quite strange for the rest of the world.

As i grew up watching Mythbusters, seeing your video about BG3 made it extra fun!
I remember getting that cutscene that Karlach performs this "evaluation" I'm currently doing second playthrough and will see if i get it again
Love your content ! Please make more
You can get double xp from resolving encounters with speech, then saving and reloading, and then killing them
They fixed that bug last year
Bit old, but I remember when I was doing the moonrise prison break out, my friends and I started combat and left the seeing eye in the floor above the warden alone without aggroing it. We found however, that it seemed to spawn an endless amount of guards which actually overwhelmed us forcing us to retreat. I'm not sure whether it's actually infinite, but it definitely spawned farm more guards than were in moonrise, and it didn't affect the guard numbers in the rest of the tower.
It calls up the guards from upstairs and other floors of moonrise: not unlimited I did try it. There’s lots of guards patrolling upstairs outside etc
Huh, I walked right into Baldurs Gate with scratch summoned and they did not care one bit
Myth 1: Not sure if it's patched out or not, but the triple experience glitch/exploit could probably do it.
Yeah it got patched out shortly after I posted the video discovering it
Deffinitly level 10 is the max in act 2 without any breaking the game!
I did every quest and enemy fights. But not attacked friendly and story npcs
I actually wouldn´t be surprised if somebody actually had the job at Larian to check the peacock law twice.
I wonder if its something to do with Karlach's Affinity or Stats. Maybe maxing out Intelligence and Affinity.
Thank you so much for another great video! Always a mood-booster.
No sane person would do that... "One might hope that Primaliquid doesn't play Baldur's Gate. :P"
That peacock law might be my favorite detail in the game
Knowing Larian, someone probably had the job to double check the peacock law, so just go do a bug rapport :P
LOL, why are people building walls for the portal fight? darkness is much less of a chore ...
Barrels rule, crates drool!
(Was also reminded of the hidden third monk subclass's ability to make impassable blocks that you detailed in an earlier video.)
Yeah Shaping the ice also blocks stuff, but lasting only 10 turns makes it frustrating to use lol. Still one of my fav abilities of all time.
Based on the (probable lies) from others, my best guess for the karlach cutscene would be directly after loading a save, and talking to her. Almost nothing else matches up for how they would’ve triggered it, since some said bad approval some said relationship, but most said act 3 I’ve seen
Still surprised not one person has posted a video of it still. I expected I would be paying it out within a week
This is the equivalent of "We'll just stay in the forest killing boars"
the spiders definitely are larger than a peacock lol
Your a Madman, you earned this Like!
This is super late, and super minor, but re: that Halsin portal quest....I actually found out at least within the last couple of weeks or so it's possible to heal the portal if things get too wild!
Is there anything barrelmancy can't solve? 🥰
Your dedication is so impressive!
Thanks! I try
@@seihoukei-streams you can get the hireling duergar from withers as well for ur future tests
@@lawmancon2416 you can’t change your own inspiration. It’s set when you create the char
I didn't know people were trying to barricade Halsin's Portal. I've always just cast Darkness to block the arrows and had someone with Spirit Guardians stand in front or put up a Wall of Fire. 😂
Yeah those are much better methods, but after seeing the same post pop up so often I was curious about it lol
Wall of Fire is insane on that fight.
I swear I tried doing that my last time around but they still shot through it. Maybe I didn’t place it exactly right? Idk but I do know I also spent 1k gold on a wall of stone scroll because I thought that would work but alas it did not.
@@GabbyPlaysGames02use wall of fire and you’re likely more than fine. The only time I used wall of stone was against Ansur
I’d love if they put that cutscene back in on Patch 7
I’m approaching level 7 in act 1 just by trying to cover more side quests than in my first playthrough (about to do the fight at the adamantine forge) it’s much further than I thought I’d get at this point 😀
