    I get that the Rangeman is a superior model but still the G7900 is a real badass, it features a low temp display guaranteed up to minus 20, that means that in real life it can probably go to minus 40, considering body temp etc. Also, it has a fantastic countdown timer with 3 different options, linear, repeat and regular signals. I can't but love it. And well if you're wondering... the Rangeman is coming next :)

      Rare ? Lol Every G-Shock is low temperature resistant. For instance, this Rangeman has a -10 resistance and it was already frozen at -24 and less by users and was working in the same. The printing on the screen is purely for info/aesthetics.

    Yes, master of G has its extra features but in the case of the 7900 its use is relative. My GGB100 Mudmaster is a great daily watch, but it doesn’t have the tide features I need for weekend beach camping trips and I choose to sport the 7900. You could go with the Frogman but we all know how hard those are to come by.

    Excellent video, thank you. Quick question, I noticed that when trying to return to the main screen on the 9400 from the stopwatch you hit the sensor button followed by the mode button. It's this the fastest/most reliable sequence? Obviously just mashing through is an option, but this looked to be fairly clean? Just curious! Thanks

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for that. Not sure what you mean by "most reliable"... I think you can change modes in any number of ways, and they are all as reliable as each other. As for fastest, I'm pretty sure this is the case. You can hold down the mode button from any mode and return to main time display, but that requires a 1.5 sec hold.

    With age the rangeman bezel and band will lose its matte finish just like the other watch has. It also hardens and becomes brittle. But spend a few dollars and the replace the band and bezel and it will come up like new again.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 7 lety

      Hi there! The GWM5610 is a classic best seller and can be highly recommended, but I would say the same for the Rangeman, being absolutely packed with features, and pound for pound (gram for gram?) arguably the best value G-shock there is. As many Casio discussions often conclude: no need to be torn, just get both! :)

      JC Garcia - I haven't handled a 5610 but all feedback seems to indicate it is absolutely solid choice, but I would also say that the Rangeman is one of the best value digital watches you can get for the amount that it does. And...

    I keep hearing that the atomic 6band signal is going to be shut down very soon making this feature useless. Also I hear that the temperature function doesnt work as it picks up the heat from your arm and the only way to use it is to take the watch off, let it sit for 10 minutes, then temp, also making that useless. Regardless I love both watches but have found myself wearing the king gw56 with an added bull bar and Zulu strap

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 5 lety +1

      I've heard of the apparent shutting of the signal but alleged this was inaccurate rumour (?). The issue with the temp sensor is correct - to have it work when worn, it needs to be worn outside a layer of clothing (e.g. Ski jacket), or in a way that's not touching skin.

  • @loombaron
    @loombaron Před 7 měsíci

    Most people will never need a barometer, a compass, an altimeter, a moon phase or a tide indicator. Those are just fancy features to make the watch more expensive and desirable. The best gshock is the dw5600, It has all you ll really need which is a clear display, time, calendar, stopwatch and a countdown timer. All those extra layers of protection expensive gshocks have are unnecessary. You ll never be in such extreme situations to justify anti dust or a 200 meter water resist. I used a standard cheap casio world time which is not even a gshock and I took it to the beach, to the ocean, it was with me in all kind of weathers and its still in perfect working condition after 5 years.
    Im saying this because its useless to spend too much money in expensive watches with fancy features. Save that money and use it for more productive things.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 7 měsíci

      Mostly agree with your first paragraph.

      @@PerthWAtch in my country those casio models are expensive. Of course they are not expensive as a rolex but is money. Besides, even the navy seals didnt need those useless features, they used the gshock 6600 which has only basic functions but its legible and durable.

    No point getting a GW-xxxx model in AU as it's already "crippled" in that the atomic 6-band reception is incompatible with Oceania regions and is thus disabled when the home time zone is set to such area. The G-7900 (not GW-7900) should be more than suffice for AU/NZ use......

    • @PerthWAtch

      @vampyrelycan99 Před rokem

      @@PerthWAtch Now that you mentioned it, I seem to recall some sort-of atomic band generator (emitter?) used at certain independent watch stores. It can emulate a certain region's atomic time signal while the store is located at another region (of atomic reception, or none). However, the watch'es city code needs to be set to one that falls under the right atomic reception region in order for the "receive" function to be operable; otherwise it will remain disabled.

    • @PerthWAtch
