WHAT
HEY! Don't break the "no one talk" pattern right at the end! That flopped the whole video!
Sarcasm intended lol.
なに!?
NANI!
Nandateee
🤨 Lmao
I like how they're just smiling this entire time until Kaiba lost
that's due to Exodia
If I'm playing a casual game and I lose due to exodia I'd be pissed too
Very friendly, the both of them 😂
WHAT
@@waltdeezy11Jeff leonard moment
God I love how this just turns it into a casual game between friends.
I know right? They're all smiling and everything!
Especially the “ WHAT!?!” In the end
I love how their turns only take 1sec, today u could watch 2 anime's apisode and the adversary would still be in turn 1.
@@kfarbarataonly ever watched the first few episodes and don't know anything about today's rules. Mostly a pokemon/vanguard player.
keep it that way dude! I play sometimes with my friends and we allow all cards except syncro/xyz/etc (all the cards that broke for real the game). Basically the old rules (but the first one to play dont buy a card in 1 turn), its very cool. With the newer cards (syncro and so on) u could combo so much that u could use ur whole deck. There's not one trading carding game that is that way, only 'modern' yugioh. Completely umbalanced, mostly 'cause they dont want to add modules in theirs tornaments (like paper from Magic the Gathering, for ex). @@criticalblaster458
Thank god neither of them activated Pot of Greed. It's impossible to know what the card does unless the player explains what it does.
Sounds like a skill issue 💅 Jk
i'm sorry, but what does it do?
@@zaadus112How are we supposed to know?
Okay people, we can do this, let's put our heads together and analysis this card!
It's name is indicative of wanting more 🤔 hunger, gluttony, avarice, covetousness... 😐💬
Must 😑 think 😵💫 harder 🧠🫨🤯
@@VictorythroughUnity59 Like, do I have to watch the show? I could've sworn they explain it often.
Ah yes, the old days of one normal summon and attacks each turn. Maybe the occasional spell/trap card. It's like looking at a lunch table in 2003.
Imagine how good Blue Eyes would be if you could still normal summon it without tributing
You can now in Duel Links
@@DaDualityofManIt would just be a vanilla beatstick that dies to any deck that's remotely considered good and Skull Servants.
@@pascalschwerdtmann4397 Yeah but still a 3000ATK normal summon is wild
@@DaDualityofMannot really no, unless you can expand beyond it it's just kinda a sitting duck. It is more useful as material than it is on the field
This quietness makes it feel like a chess match lmao
Chess oh 😂
yes
That was what was really appealing about early YGO, I think.
It felt pretty methodical. Like you could work and think your way through it.
No, this is basically just any yugioh video game
@@raimarulightninguntil you needed good cards but they cost up to hundreds of dollars.
Magic is more methodical. You can easily use your mana and can't cast Instant or use abilities or save some mana for their turn.
Wouldn't mind seeing a whole series of this ngl
Based off reality, yes :)
I heard they are working on this and have even already finished the dub.
Bro I would love that so hard like God damn
Would last only 3 charpters tho
@@Danbu1988who is they?
Honestly, this makes them look more impressive. Like they know the game and each others cards so well, nothing needs to be explained. It gives off the feeling of a chess match between two highly skilled individuals. Creative video.
"summon normal monster and attack"
"summon normal monster and attack"
@@MrCheeze Yeah fair, still though.
@@darksideofevil13you make a good point. Chess is definitely like this, no overly long winded explanations of their moves and strategies, just make your move silently and move on. It kinda makes it a little cooler imo.
@@santosicDon't underestimate the power of the anime. Anime can make a silent game like chess become as dramatic as possible and spectators and loud as possible as background characters constantly talking about the game. And finally, the most important thing in anime sports, an extremely very long inner monologue of the main character and the players whenever they do a single move.
Well, the point of the talking(besides entertainment value, and explaining what's happening to the viewer). Is that YGO is a reactive game, unlike Chess.
You need to inform your opponent on what move you're making, so they have a chance to respond.
And also, unlike Chess, YGO is a card game of thousands/millions of different cards. It's physically impossible for any one player to know every card, and have its full effect memorized.
Yu-Gi-Oh IRL is legit just this and maybe a "Let me read that card real quick"
"High roll?"
"Good luck."
"Standby Main?"
"Good."
"Normal, effect?"
"Uhh, effect is good."
"Anything on res?"
"Droll?"
"Ah. Yeah, that's fine."
"Uhh. Thinking."
Pfft real Yu-Gi-Oh players know you don't read the cards. Just yolo it
That day all monster is normal monster. We dont need to read.
Sadly, its become a traditions since YGO player do not read
I'm probably one of those interesting people. I talk when dueling, even telling my opponent that its over, or I won't give up, or saying I don't know what surrendering even mean in my book, yelling out a summon, ect. Not from anime habit but a natural habit I always do. Its just not in Mr to ever stay quiet😅
@@fruitybluieblue098For the sake of your dignity, don't do that.
Oh wow. Dueling ASMR. I love the sound of lifepoints going down. So soothing!
The Yu-Gi-Oh ASMR videos I watch usually involve more Dark Magician Girl.
It kinda do though for real
Its the sound of cards being drawn that does it for me .
@@MySelfTheThird-ft8fosame
@@awkwardcultismSyrus? Is that you?
That silent smile when Yugi pulled up The Exodia.
When Kaiba said "WHAT?!" that line really got me.
yes
best line of the clip by far
This feels so weird to watch considering how much Yami snd Kaiba love to talk and self monologue in thought.
Not just yugi or kaiba the entire shows get ruined cuz of all the trash talk n monologuing, the only ones I like r 5ds, arc-v n brains cuz it's so much faster than the others
Funny cause when yugi play swords of revealing light he stares at the card for way too long. We as the viewer know that yugi is self monologing in thought, but if we put ourselves in kaibas POV he's probably like "wtf?"
Like nibba, "this isn't Kaiji The Ultimate Survivor, it doesn't require that level of thought or attention." It made more sense in the manga.
Atem, actually.
Despite knowing how it would end that was somehow more intense. I hope you do other pivotal duels like this.
i would LOVE a marik vs joey video like this
I swear it made it more intense
Silence builds tension. So many anime don't seem to realize this. They used to
1:58 I love how Yugi's mouth opens up like he's telling Kaiba "EYYYY!!!"
You even fixed them not showing Yugi putting down defense mode cards twice, nicely done!
This is kinda intimate tbh. Two friends who know eachothers' decks so well that they don't need to explain what their cards do anymore. They're two top level duelists that practice together all the time. Their decks are evenly matched, so sometimes Yugi wins, sometimes Kaiba wins. They're always slightly tweaking their cards and strategy to try to be the winner this time. Even Kaiba's WHAT at the end makes sense, since Yugi has probably never been able to pull off an Exhodia before. This video is the best fanfiction I've seen in a while lol.
Its no fanfiction. If they weren't talking this is how the first duel's gonna down between them. These 2, they can act like they know each other for years for how professional and passionate they are. I love the way you phrase it too~
100% agreed!!😊
I mean, yugi did pull off exodia in their first duel
But Kaiaba has repressed those memories
Honestly, I was half hoping the video would be 5 minutes longer, just hanging on still frames of Yugi while he inner-monologues, except we can't hear his thoughts
What everyone else sees during his long inner monologue 😂
Kaiba then said good game, and went home to tell his gf about the bad beats. She doesn’t play but knows he’ll feel better so she listens attentively.
Finally, it’s nice to have Yu-Gi-Oh in some sort of abridged format.
Yeah *Que Littlekuriboh*
It's like an episode of Samurai Jack, but in a children's card game. Love it
“When two duelists are engaged in combat words aren’t necessary. They can read each others thoughts through movement alone”
It always kills me to see Kaiba summon 3 blue eyes turn after turn with no tribute or having a monster attack while swords of revealing light is still active 😂😂😂
Anime came out before the ground rules of the game were established
@@JetfireQuasar This explains why everyone and their mother is cheating in the anime
OCG 1999. There was no tributing either. Though this didn't last long. Rules changed immediately after volume 2
OCG 1999 rules were very werido and clunky
Hilarious, these were the tamest examples of season 1 anime shenanigans. It gets a lot worse later on, like against Weevil, Mako and PaniK
@@JargonMadjinthis was played on koushiki format back then there are two yugioh format
Beginner and expert
Beginner aka koushiki is discontinued.
The WHAT at the end is so unexpected yet so relatable
Lmao this just feels uncomfortable. It's like watching a fever dream.
yami going :D silently for an exodia resolution is perfect. poor guy's been asleep for god knows how long and he just clowned this pretty boy. must be a nice way to wake up.
The little grins on their faces make it so much funnier.
This is like watching L and Light's conversations without internal monologues.
I love how it looks like they're looking at their cards as if they have no idea what it does, which tbh, is pretty accurate yugioh.
basically first 100 games of any deck, even 7 years ago when i stopped. i can just imagine it now
@@otrof6203 100 games is a bit of an exaggeration.
@@yuricecconi561 true, because turns last very long so you have plenty of time to read 😅
its more like 10.
🤣🤣🤣
That "What?" at the end 😆😆😆
Under the YGO rules, you're supposed to announce your plays and intentions, so there's no confusion. Of course, in today's game, where you special summon at a rapid fire pace, that falls by the wayside
which is why i'm not terribly fond of playing now. everyone just machineguns their cards onto the field
@@alicevioleta3184look into GOAT format.
In every setting I’ve ever played any card game, it’s common courtesy to name your cards and play them one by one
By the time I wanted to enter the game, the 1st turn victory meta was already a thing, so I never did. All these OP interactions between OP cards reduce the game to a spectacularly elaborate coin flip that costs a lot of real life money to perform.
Yea well the vanilla game was "I draw, I summon a card, I end my turn" today it's like at the shortest "I draw, I summon my entire deck while drawing more cards, oh and don't forget, I also empty my graveyard while banishing yours!" If all that needs to be said in the TCG you would talk more than play. haha!
That was.... surprisingly intense
Good edit from a good lad. It obliterates.
"Mom said we can still play, but she has to wake up at 6 AM tomorrow, so we have to keep it down."
Still rages, after the game ends.
This has the same energy as playing Space Pinball on Windows XP and forgetting to enable the music.
Ehh, it's not *that* horrible.
me as a child playing with my friend at 2 am and having to be quiet so my mom doesn't find us
I had a feeling it would be a lot funnier if they never explained what the cards did, but the not talking as well was a nice touch. Would love to see more of these for iconic duels from the series.
never explained what the cards do that's just insane & inhuman. that just saying make children card games for actual children.
@@roeimakikiderikadragontwin9898I think the idea is more of an "Everything still has an effect, you just don't know it".
@@roeimakikiderikadragontwin9898 To be fair, a lot of times in the show, people just let their opponents run right into their effects and don't explain what the card does until after
Now imagine some of the more "asspully" moments of the show being done without any explanation as to what's going on (such as the beyond infinity combo against Dartz's Divine Seprent)
Two men smiling and playing a Game. Peak Positivity 😊
I imagine how short Naruto would be if no one talked.
Anime in general would be quite short without dialogue
No music either? This immediately turned into two comic book store regulars going at it in the corner. Man, i miss the days when a duel wasnt decided in the first two turns.
Play goat😊
Banger Video
This is kind of incredible...this is extra funny to me right to me right now. I would commit to watching a series of just this.
Yugi: Silently smirks and holds up Exodia
Kaiba, after getting his soul shattered out of the clear blue sky: *WHAT*
This is the abridged I need. Much faster, and yet I can still follow along with the duel perfectly well without all the exposition.
Imagine someone activating a pot of greed and didn't even care to explain what it does
Kaiba smiling most of the duel, Yugi smiling but also has concern in his face, Yugi draws Exodia and smiles, Kaiba confusion face and then “WHAT”
You should do more of these videos. They are really well edited.
this is exactly how it feels to play master duel against ur friends
Unless you monologue and talk at yourself to the screen at your opponent😅 Which I do every time, especially against meta players.
Absolute cringe and I love it
iM LAUGHING OUT LOUD LMAO YAMI SILENT SMIRK AT THE BEGINNING KILLED ME uahdkahsjdjs
Honestly, it's so satisfying to have the action not be delayed by all the talking!
nobody:
yugi:
kaiba: WHAT?!
This is like big bang theory with no laugh tracks or death note with no inner monologues and I love it
Even the Blue-Eyeses don't talk
Reality holograms😂
Sangan took Saggi's attack, yet Yugi never used Sangan's search efect
Somehow this adds far more weight to the entire thing
Me playing my friends while in class. Also yugioh online, if it were a thing back in the day would be incredible popular. Today that video would be 20min long and we would still be in someone's first turn.
Ykno what?... This would actually have been incredible for Yami vs Yugi. They know each other's moves so well that an absolutely chaotic battle can play out with no words needed
Bro that's just creepy when you know that every duel in this franchise was 50% playing and 50% explaining the effects to each other
Perfection
I just love hearing the sound effect dididididing
Yugi's slow draw got a laugh out of me.
I wish yugioh was this easy to understand. Now we got pendulums, xyz, links. You can't summon shit without being double cheeked up on a thursday afternoon when it's a winter solstice in chicago while nickleback music plays in the background.
PLEASE DO THIS FOR THE ENTIRE SERIES YOUR CHANNEL WILL EXPLODE!!!
Love the intensity of this. The only thing missing imo is the Roar of Blue eyes
Master Duel in a nutshell
Makes it wayyyy better
Seems like they’re having a lot of fun!
Feels more tense. Sometimes it's better to show, don't tell.
That's right~
I love this, thank you for making it.
I didn't know that I needed this until I saw it. Thank you, I will treasure this forever.
Imagine how many episodes you'd need to stitch together for a single Dragon Ball Z fight in this style lol
Or just read the manga since episodes were like that cuz they literally were caught with the manga
For most fights, not many. Vs frieza? No kidding it'd take a few, the guy fought effectively over 8 different fights consecutively 😂
We watch for animation we read for story
Why can't you manga Nerds 🤓 not get abt that @@Morrigan101

Imagine how much faster Battle City would've been like this.
Those 5ds sound effects work really well here
honestly this is more tension than the tcg
Why do I love this so much?
The fact this is still pretty epic speaks volumes
Much closer to real life. Closer would be getting interrupted to be asked about when it’s chipotle time or the eventual, “wait, what did you just play there? Is that how it works?”
Perfect
At least Yugi's setting his cards in face down defense 😂
The sound effects for picking up cards is sending me. It's perfect
Even without talking, you can hear Kaiba's scream as Yugi summons Exodia cut right through the silence like a paper cut through skin.
