- In this woodturning video, I will turn some Australian mallee burl pieces into a stunning hybrid coffee mug with the help of some epoxy resin coloured with golden green mica powder pigments. Turned on my woodturning lathe where it was shaped, sanded and polished to high gloss finish. Used stainless steel coffee mug insert what was glued in with some flexible epoxy resin.

That's not a coffee cup... it's a custom insulated travel mug!! Total surprise at the end. Loved it.
It’s not a mug either. Semantics, I know, but call it what it is.
@@neptuneisbleeding my point is I wasn't expecting the finish on it. Tied it together very nicely and totally food safe.
Coffees would never taste as good in any other cup, simply stunning
Much cooler and prettier than the Stanley mugs everyone is so excited about
The Stanley mugs are vacuum insulated though.

So?
Vacuous and hollow inside, just like the people who are excited about them.
So, they maintain the temperature gradient longer, obviously. Which is a useful quality for a beverage container.

You seem to have missed the joke.
I was thinking the same thing! A work of art, better than some mass produced garbage
Very cool process, mug looks great, and we get to see the world's smallest coffee pot. 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Years ago my late father and I went to learn wood turning at a local sawmill until he got seriously ill. It was the most relaxing craft ive ever done. The teacher said he worked with cardiac patients to help them destress and relax.
You want some coffee with that milk? Geeze lol
that rollerblade wheel jig is genius
Stunning isn't even enough to describe this! What an incredible gift you have!
That is a very cool coffee cup! I love the colors. Great job, as always!
Thanks so much! 😊
When you pulled out that tiny but legit cafecito machina I was like Oookaaaaay
You do such lovely work. Thank you for sharing
Wht a hard work...coffee mug is a master piece
Dude! That’s was awesome to watch and the final product is beautiful
Thanks so much!
You're right, that's really cool! Loved it! ❤
That was a great color to go with what looked like burl cut offs!! I’m now a fan!
Cool cup. But that's surely not coffee. That's coffee flavored milk! Haha.
Great video. Great work.
Amazing cup, but thank goodness he's not a barista.
Another absolutely beautiful mug, and the process of it being made, is wonderful also. 💗
That's definitely the coolest coffee mug!! 👍👀🥇
Oh I like that cup! That’s a nice cup!
I didn't know Bialetti made Mocha Pots that small! Amazing cup btw.
Hi David this is a magnificent and unique travel coffee mug. The resin colour blue goes really well with the burls you used an they had lovely grain. You are a masterwoodturner thank you for a great video . Amanda xx
Exceptionally well done and the coolest thing about it is that it is a one of a kind. So uniquely beautiful. You could just make an incredible living on those mugs alone.
Brilliant. Much respect for your talent.
Very beautiful. My favorite colors.
Love the color!!!!!!
Gorgeous!
Beautiful coffee mug David.
Absolutely love it!!! You have a wonderful talent ❤️
Thank you so much!!
Very cool mug, I love the color and the grain of the wood
Absolutely gorgeous!
That's cooler than I expected.
Stunning mix of wood and resin 🎉❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Surprise, the mug turned out beautifully! 😊
This was beautiful.
Wowww..I mean...Just woooowww!! Amazing...really this is art in a coffee cup..say no more..you're so talented!!
Well . . . That does it! Now I have to get a lathe.
Nice milk with some coffee :)
Very beautifully made!
Beautiful! And i have several Stanley's. But i think id like a Davids. 😊
Could watch for hours. Sending love from across the pond in Boise, Idaho.
Nice! Want one.
Beautiful 🤘👏👏👏
Very beautiful, and quite the artistic piece!... I even went to your website and considered buying one. But as a coffee mug, or cold-drink container, I'm afraid I'd be disappointed. I believe by looking at similar woodworking mug inserts online, that this is a non-insulated stainless-steel insert - that is, it does NOT have a vacuum or insulated layer to keep liquids hot or cold! Again, you've done an incredible job artistically, but functionally I would need it to be insulated.
Nice job. I love that little green coffee pot 😀
Very very beautiful mud did a great job lot of deal tale to it great great stay safe and keep up the good work you do
😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
That is a very beautiful mug❤
That's beautiful. Maybe a matching coffee tamper for your espresso maker would make a good video?
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Well done. Beautiful cup. Loved the tiny expresso maker too.
Thank you so much 😀
That’s awesome
Love it David. Those colors are my favorite!!!! One of these days I may get mine done😂. Great job as always

Nice! I want one with clear resin and a glass insert
Absolutely beautiful ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm gonna need 2 of these lol.
Awesome.
Very nice!
That is cool as $hit. Nothing better than hand made. Wish I had the patience and the talent for wood working. And of course, the equipment.
Very nice Sir ,well done.
That was so much efforts 😊

God’s greatest gift to us…..giving us the ability to create things with our own minds and hands. Great job!
Great job mate looks cool
Thank you! Cheers!
Good work❤❤
Great looking mug, lot of color I would use it
Thank you! Cheers!
So *that's* how you make it a useable mug. I was sitting here wondering how the heck wood and resin were gonna be okay to drink out of. :3
That’s really cool looking. Nice work.
Just a quick note. Mugs have handles.
I want it… ❤❤❤❤ my favorite colors send me the price
Would you like some coffee with your cream sir.. Goodness gracious a perfect shot of espresso “looked like a Cafe Bustelo Latin coffee by the end” oh also killer cup!
Beautiful mug! Are you able to do anything/make anything out of the left over resin shaving when you are finished?
Finding your posts very inspirational. Love this coffee mug. Have searched high & low for suitable inserts in particular the type that you are using. So are you able to advise where I might be able to purchase them from. Also your alloy name buttons you put into the bottom of your projects. Thank you & regards.
Nice
Oh boy, more resin-turning. This isn't something you'd ever want to drink hot coffee out of.
You probably missed me using a stainless steel insert 😅😅
Thats Awesome I have a cpl of those inserts just need to get a bigger forstner bit and some nice chunky spindle pieces
Thank you so much 😀 They are fun to make. Good size fortsner helps a ton for sure
Super groovy.
I'd love to see you take on an electric guitar.
Even if it meant you did a Collab for someone to add the non groovy wood stuff and play it of course.
Auction it off and leaner to play/buy some cool tools/give to a worthy charity etc.
Plus we get to see a very cool guitar.
Meus parabens pela obra de arte 🎉🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
That was beautiful work. Would it be difficult to put a ceramic insert in there instead of stainless steel, do you think?
A master at work …
Thank you so much 😀
Puikus meno kūrinys 👍👍👍👍👍☕🥂
Linkiu sėkmės kūryboje.

You could turn a tamper to press the coffee down into the percolator!
Thanks 👍
What kind of epoxy do you us that is food grade and is good to put hot liquids in?
Really cool. But was that black really needed to hold the wood down in the mold? Seemed like a snug fit, then when you put tape around it made it tighter. Would that wood still have floated up with the epoxy in there?
