Dude, this is awesome... You should definitely react to this: czcams.com/video/JCdPkm-6YYc/video.html. It's "The Ringers" (AKA Michael Landau, Jimmy Herring, and Wayne Krantz) playing Worried Life Blues at BB King's club in NYC. It's kind of an older clip, but it's pretty unbelievable.
This song will forever remind me of Miami Vice. That first pilot episode at the end, where Tubbs and Sonny ride off into the night, towards their unknown fate. Unsure of what might happen down at the port. And Sonny calls his ex-wife reassuring their past, as the drum solo hits and they cruise off down the street, neon lights dancing around that black stallion of a car. Past all the street lights, down an empty street.. One of the best uses of music in film I've ever seen. Perfect for the time and feeling of the 80s.
You nailed it. I had a VHS of this which I wore out. Incredible performance. Clapton's performance is so underrated as well, but Phil steals the show with his incredible virtuosity. Keep up these videos!!
When I saw "Phil Collins & Eric Clapton" in the title at first I thought (and hoped) you were covering "I Wish it Would Rain Down" - excellent guitar work from Clapton in that song. Definitely one you should consider looking at.
There is a video I recently saw of Phil Collins talking all about when he wrote this song. Where he was in life and how he felt and what it was about. Best of all he explains what that drum part is and I will not spoil that for anyone who may have interest in that video about this song.
I had the chance to tell him how much I loved his bass part in this song and that he was way busier at the end than I’d given him credit for the first billion times I listened to this song. His response? “Fucking right I was busy! Glad someone finally noticed”. Love that guy!
My wife is one of *those* *people* who don't get the concept of songs that you JUST. DON'T. INTERRUPT. I cannot tell you how many times she has started talking to me 0.8 seconds before the drum fill in the 27 years we've been married. I'm too old for getting gone, so I guess I'll forgive her sins as she undoubtedly forgives mine 😏
Got nip that in bud early, 27 years she is never gonna change now lol..in my opinion there is 2 kinds of people. People who will sit and wait for the song to end, a certain drum fill, hook, guitar line to end before turning off the car. Then there is the losers who have no idea, I cut them out of my life early, you can't teach that. I married a musician so I didn't have to deal with that. Peace
That's a huge coincidence. Coming home from Ocean City today I asked my wife what she wanted to listen to. It was this! Air drums across the bay bridge!
I saw the 86' Clapton/Collins tour in our home state of Maryland at the (Old) Capital Center in Largo.I told you before I am originally from Frederick and now I love in Smithburg, Md. Nathan East was on Bass and Greg Phillinganes was on Keys. They both also did backing vocals. Between the 4 of them "Great Harmonies". To top it all off Robert Cray did the "Opening Set"! Great concert and they did this song......
I had never seen this particular live performance...ty for deciding to learn how to play it, lol!! Clapton all up in it, yessah! Up until now, my favorite performance has been from Finally....The First Farewell Tour", now I have 2 favorites thx to you. Have always loved the bassline in this song, didn't see Leland here.
My wife and I are currently going through a season of marital struggle - one day this song stood out to me last week and I stopped in my tracks as it was on a radio station and I thought “oh.... THATS what this song was about - the whole time!” His divorce was looming in the air and somehow felt it was chasing him the whole life and choices made it a reality
Did you know? Upon hearing this for the first time, Anni-Frid Lyngstad AKA Frida (One of the A's of the then dissolved ABBA) called Phil Collins and said: Come over to my studio. I want something like that song on my new album. They worked together and out came: I Know There's Something Going On. A major hit for her.
Miami Vice! that sequence in the Ferrari with the camera mounted on the body of the car while it zips down the highway playing this whole song was epic TV moment. Miami Vice a totally unique show from the MTV era. Fit the popular music of the day right into the episodes. Featured it. Was huge for artist and show...brings me back!
I am so glad u showed up on my feed today! I love the way u listen, hear and explain music. I love the way u feel and express it. U are a lovely guy w/a great feel and language to express what's hard to put into words. I'm 66 and been listening to music since I was 6, and started learning at 13. I am old and ill, but I still sing and dance in the house every day I can and play for me. I love Eric too, and actually met him in 2000, quickly of course. Anyway, u really understand taste and the wsu u explain subtlety. Congrats to u dude! U also have a great presence. Peace, love and health. I'll be watching and yry to learn from you!
Genesis Abacab please in keeping with the Phil Collins theme here. You are going to be blown away by the drumming and the keyboard parts. Such an amazing groove.
At around 9:10 you said "whammy bar" to one of Clapton's ambient fills but I can tell you that he is using essentially a hardtail so that makes it all the more impressive. All in the fingies! I'd like to see more of him in the future!
Even though Phil wrote unforgettable songs, he was never an intentional pop star. Early Genesis, Brand-X. His leaning was always fringe. He would not have been a stranger within the context of King Crimson. And my favorite Clapton has always been Clapton with other people.
Killer performance on this one ... Ive seen Phil live and it's a journey in itself, I must say, the caramel sound of this live version is exactly as u said, perfect smooth layers, waiting for the last crunch of completion....❤️🙏🇨🇦awesome
Saw them on this tour at the Universal Amphitheater in Hollywood, CA. Clapton introduced Collins by saying, "I'd like you to meet my next door neighbor, Phil. I've given him a chance on drums. Take it away Phil!!!"
In Georgia, they play this song every year when they introduce the State Finalists in high school wrestling. They turn the lights off and just have a spotlight on you as you walk into the arena with this in the background. It still gives me chills every time I hear it. Keep up the great videos 🤘🏼
Good call on the Bass dude. The keys, drums, strings n voice are perfect. But that bass line just launches it to another level. Then phil goes astro on the vocals. What a performance. Awesome breakdown as usual dude🤙🏼
as an amateur musician, never really payed attention to the music happening between the drums and the bass... literally blew my mind when I payed attention after you remarked it!
Great version, great band! Phil Collins said it's one of the best touring band he's played with! There is more from this Eric Clapton show to enjoy! You should check out the great basist Leland Sklar's CZcams channel as he does bass lines for several songs. He's a really cool cat. Awesome!
Check out pappo´s song Longchamps boogie, He was a famous guitar player in argentina, He used to play with bb king when he had a show in argentina. Love your videos and keep it up michael! Greetings from Argentina!
Michael, PLEASE watch the whole Montserrat concert it's full of incredible little details from various artists. Sting, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton etc. Your fan :)
Look into Molly Tuttle if you want to hear some amazing bluegrass flatpicking. Pretty sure she won guitarist of the year recently. She plays with Billy Strings regularly too!
Videos are awesome man. Do a reaction video to Lynyrd Skynyrd covering T For Texas in 1976 sometime. It’s got some great guitar parts in it and it’s a classic song. Love the channel man
Phil is hands down one of the greatest drummers, singers and writers. The Genesis stuff is so hard to play and sing, and he did both. Much maligned here in the UK, possibly less so in the US. His stuff with Genesis is top, top draw and I've been working out which live Genesis track to ask you to do because there's so much musicality to enjoy. I'll pick one soon! Mean time check out this cover of In The Air Tonight by Sierra Eagleson, pretty sweet czcams.com/video/qNYNNrpyhEE/video.html
Clapton has always been amazing, go listen to Derek and the Dominoes, have you ever loved a woman with Duane Allman playing slide, truly one of my favourite songs
I have one word for this Man.... PHE-NO-ME-NAL. You should react to the live version of this Song. It is Ear Candy. You can thank me later. 😉😊 PHIL COLLINS IS A LEGEND. By the way. Love your reactions. Keep up the great work. 😊😊😊
Hey Michael! If you are looking for something intricate, amazing, and very much acoustic... give “Michigan” by The Milk Carton Kids a try! I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work boss!
I would love to watch you do a Eric Clapton review like old love from 24 nights live at royal albert hall 1990 or double trouble live with Steve winwood those I believe are 2 of claptons best on video I’ve seen him many times
Oh Hi. Just me here, chasing that mysterious CZcams algorithm with ONE OF THE BEST OF ALL TIME!
What's about Cam Cole? Think you'll like him...
You're a genius Mike!
@@Frank_inSA I second Cam Cole.
Assume you've seen this one, but just in case, Umphreys McGee mashup with ITAT czcams.com/video/Q_Vfu3NTZzs/video.html
There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and every single person alive will air drum along when the drums kick in on this song.
Pretty Much!
The fact that none of you guys did the drum fill mid air on that boat is unforgivable.
Everyone. EVERYONE does the drum fill, Michael.
It was rougher than it looks! Had to hold on to the center console and the phone!
The drum beat and head nod are compulsory
The most amazing is the singing of Phil. While playing drums... his voice never ever stutters. Like you might expect. Unbelievable talent,
Entirely onboard with the complete honesty about algorithm chasing. Helps that it really is a great song.
Hey man, gotta call it as it is!
So true :)
It was also used to perfection in the pilot episode of The Americans
1 million percent
You nailed it. I had a VHS of this which I wore out. Incredible performance. Clapton's performance is so underrated as well, but Phil steals the show with his incredible virtuosity. Keep up these videos!!

I would love to see this, where was this video located?
hey michael, how about having a look at sultans of swing from either 1983 alchemy concert or the 1985 wembley concert, best guitar playing ever,
Mark Knopfler is THE man!
@@annmarie3573 yeah i just love his playing, he's unique.
Mark is a virtuoso
@@smokesgtp he certainly is, i love a lot of guitar players but mark is my favourite.
Anything Mark Knopfler. Let’s go!
Phil’s bassist Lee Sklar has a great CZcams channel now. He does this song there
czcams.com/video/L8-N5T0Ml5s/video.html
Lee Sklar is a fantastic bass player. Has anyone worked more than him?
I had the chance to tell him how much I loved his bass part in this song and that he was way busier at the end than I’d given him credit for the first billion times I listened to this song. His response? “Fucking right I was busy! Glad someone finally noticed”. Love that guy!
Clapton and Collins together, same time (era) when they did "Same Old Blues" live at NEC (E.C. sweatin' off the toxins)...another mind blower. TY

I have one CZcams account with notifications set... And here I am. Time to watch, then keep working through GuitarGate lessons on my day off.
YES. Love it dude :)
@UsEliteSki do it. I've been a bassist for 15 years, been sucked into the 6 string lately. Michael's stuff is just as good as his reaction videos.
Btw the history behind the drum sound construct, which was new and revolutionary for its time, is the sound that defined the sound of the 80s and 90s.
I saw the two boys reaction. These kids would probably flip out if they knew that Phil was the one on those killer drums!!!
I saw the 86' Clapton/Collins tour in our home state of Maryland at the (Old) Capital Center in Largo.I told you before I am originally from Frederick and now I love in Smithburg, Md. Yess Knopfler!
Mandela's birthday. Brothers in Arms.
I'd love to see him breakdown anything from nokie edwards
Marble town
Phil is 7000 times better than anyone thinks he was live. He don't need a microphone, he don't need no delay, he don't need no drums. he is the band.
A great band that you should react to is Caamp. Preferably the song “going up the country”

Amazing video as always! I would love to see your reaction to “Ben Howard - End of the Affair” live on Jools Holland..
You should listen to dust bowl dance, the drummer sings and drums at the same time. Beautiful song.
No way in the world that this is the first time those brothers heard that lol absolute Belter tune
You can't fake the amp in the room feedback thing. You just feel it, coming in the air tonight.
This song always reminds me of Miami Vice...dating myself lol
You and me both, my friend.
