It depends on where you go. Bigger cities are, as it is EVERYWHERE, more expensive than the provinces or smaller cities. I've lived in Cebu, Baguio, and Malaybalay (Mindanao). Cebu was most expensive, Baguio was cheaper, and in some cases REALLY cheap (like strawberries), and Malaybalay was the cheapest of them all. So, it's true it CAN be more expensive, but it's also true that where you are, where you shop, and HOW you shop makes a difference. I always had my wife do the shopping, and it would be cheaper than if I did the shopping, due to the skin tax you often (not always) encounter.
I was mostly treated well in the Philippines. I never had any problems in Malaybalay (except for a lot of staring and the skin tax). I also had so many people be nice and kind to me in Baguio. I love Baguio so much... the people there were ALL so nice. I never had one bad experience in over 6 months living there. Cebu was the worst place, as I'd had several problems like your friend with the court to play sports. I've always felt that people in the country, in any country, are friendlier and nicer than people in cities, in general. There are obviously nice people everywhere, and I had many good experiences in Cebu as well.

    This is really an eye-opener!
Most of the ex pats living in the Philippines post videos that make it seem like a virtual paradise as long as you can cope with certain things you won’t have that you used to have back home. Other than that they speak mostly about the incredible warmth and welcoming ways of the Filipino people.

I think that part of the reason why service in stores is so slow is because that's the way it is all over the country. They don't have to improve their service because no other stores will serve the customers any faster. So the customer doesn't have a choice but to wait.
In the US, for example, there might be 4 or 5 stores all selling the same things. So, to compete for the customers they have to be cheap and fast and have plenty of quantities of each item on hand. That competition forces the store to improve their service.

I came across your channel yesterday, you're so honest and very logical with your videos. Regarding this video well done for being so honest and real with us foreigners about the Philippines in depth the reasons not to move there. I was going to move there this year I'm 36 years old, but changed my mind because I am a very outspoken person and I don't let anything that I think is wrong off easily. And being a foreigner and being strong minded and always having strong thoughts can have an effect on me and I wouldn't like to get in any trouble in the Philippines. I have been to the Philippines twice i liked it and enjoyed it, but living there would be a different ball game. And yes the Philippines is a cash society as well and we all love cash but carrying cash is also risky because it can be dropped or whatever etc. So my decision is nope I'm not going there I'll explore different countries so far been to 45 countries. By the way you are very respectful and beautiful and informative to your viewers, cheers and bye from London England UK.

Hello Rubeati very interesting , first thing I have to say I love your country and the people , I think the people that visit and think its expensive are staying in the 4 and 5 star hotels they are eating in the high end restaurants they are coming from the the US .Canada and parts in Europe and they want the same as they have there. I have travelled your country from Manila to Davao I have been to all the main Islands I have seen a lot of your country and I would 100% recommend it . There are lots of beautiful places to stay and eat at a very affordable price but you have to do your research first. I agree some places are noisy traffic , dogs barking , roosters and the one I find the worst is the karaoke , but ear plugs work good :) I live in Canada ( I am not Canadian I am from the UK ) if you were staying in my home a very nice townhouse you would hear traffic all the time in the back yard as you know you get used to it. I am not sure where you were in France but I have never found France cheap , I go back to Europe every year England , Ireland and Spain and I can't believe how the cost has gone up so much. Well its been 2+ years since I was in Asia because of covid but I hope to be back travelling later this year. Keep up the great work love your St walks I hear that Manila Bay is all cleaned up maybe you could do a tour :) Thanks take care .

I was just in Cebu for one month, my fifth visit to Cebu. Yes she is very special! Anyway so covid is going on and we're going to use the condo towers gym. But the number of people is limited to the small gym and you must schedule on the appointment book kept at the guards desk. When the book is full already, it's just no problem for me. I love to adapt and find another way. In this case, the two condominium towers are 14 stories. Solution: Run the stairs! After each up and down do a little recovery loop around the drive-thru gate lobby area, and then back up you go! It's really better than the gym because the view improves with each flight of stairs 😄😄
And you know the only people running those stairs were me and my girlfriend. So with one simple decision we showed that we are resilient, and we were the only ones running those stairs 😂😂
Anytime the gym was already booked, it was time to run the stairs!
    Adopt and overcome.

Whenever I talk to my Filipina girlfriend she's always telling me this is expensive and that's expensive. Well, she says that because a lot of Filipinos who have jobs don't make a lot of money so I understand what she means. If you don't have a job and you don't make a lot of money I can understand why things are considered expensive to the local population.

You're so right! Pinas has changed so very much in those late 15 years. Pinoy who really hate foreigners are growing more and more in the country without even thinking that if now the economy of the country is doing much better compare 10 years ago is just because of all the OWF living in westerns countries sending money home. I've been living in the province there for quiet few years and now cannot afford it anymore and also (maybe cause i'm aging) I can't stand the noise, the dirt and smells and lack of a minimal hygene mostly everywhere. I'm so sorry cause mostly I used to like and miss pinoy lifestyle and attitude. I also experienced a lot of jelosy in my neighborhood and other feelings that makes me feel pretty discriminated. Last but not least the weather is too hot there and impossible to stand unless you stay inside with aircon which brings to high cost of electricity bills much more cheaper here in Italy with a climate of only two months of heat per year. Without considering the variety of food I can have here everyday. Nevertheless Pinas remain the best country and Pinoy the best ever people I met in my life. I learn a lot there.. I whish I could stay more but... things changes during a lifetime! I am happy at least to still have my Pinay Wife and Daughter living with me in my country. Daghan Kaajo Salamat! Maraming salamat po!!

After watching hundreds, if not thousands, of videos now, one thing I've noticed is the difference in people's behaviors towards Filipino vloggers and foreigners. Most people turn away from the camera and don't interact with a Filipino vlogger, but they all jump in front of the camera and talk to foreigners. I think that would be an interesting video to see, you go to a market and vlog and see how the vendors interact with you, do they turn away from the camera or not talk to you, then a bit later have a foreigner go to the same place vlogging and see how they react.
