- The albums finally here and WOW did it blow my expectations away! All these songs that weren't released as singles are INSANE, I mean I guess technically this one is a single now but still haha. Such a great mix of all their previous works in my opinion, they just keep getting better and better. Interesting that we have another 6 string song here, these riffs are KILLER and remind me a lot of songs like The Place I Feel Safest, Forget Me, and My Disguise, which are some of my top favorites from them. Not sure which song is my favorite yet, but this one is definitely up there! Any way, feel free to discuss the album below and let me know what some of your favorites are! I do want to cover more from this album, but I also want to actually enjoy and absorb it before going crazy into working on that as to not burn myself out or burn out the enjoyment of the songs while they're fresh.

Funny story - when the I Let The Devil in EP dropped, I covered My Disguise and The Rope that same weekend. The following week I tagged the band in some clips of them on IG, and Brian commented on it saying something like they were all watching it the other day on CZcams and good job and all that, which was cool enough on its own. Two weeks later I see them in concert, and Chris starts mingling with the crowd and my friend goes “hey this is my friend, he loves you guys and covered some of your new songs!” Chris ponders for a moment and goes “oh yea, Alex right?” I was fucking MIND-BLOWN and incredibly humbled, a moment I’ll never forget. fucking insane brother, you're always the first one to cover these Currents song. This album is a masterpiece from start to finish, you have to cover the whole album !! This song and Gone Astray are my top for this album, absolutely phenomenal. Probably album of the year for me, every songs are absolutely insane

Like I mentioned in the bio, I wanna absorb the album and not rush it like I did with The Way It Ends but these songs will definitely be covered 😂 I’m itching to do Over And Over or Beyond This Road next, I still have to listen to Gone Astray and Guide Us Home more. I thought it was pretty cool how they gave Chris a spot on vocals for Gone Astray! And yea another six string song! I was shocked by that considering all the riffage, and slightly upset bc I wanted to use my new seven string for such a sick song 😅
@@alexweinmuller I dont own a 7 string (for now) and i'm really happy to see that currents put out this kind of riffs on 6 strings, So Alone doesnt have that much sick riffs, its a lot of 0's so a bit less interesting to learn imo, but definitely gonna learn this song when tabs will pop on youtube, still fucking amazed that you can figure out these riffs by ear and so quickly !!
Haha dude I almost didn’t get on covering So Alone right away due to that fact, it sounds sick but not a whole lot going on except for that one little quick riff thrown in there 😂 and definitely do it man! It’s such a fun song, and thank you as always! Developing the ear for it just takes time, I’ve been figuring out songs for a long time now, it definitely helps understanding the way a band writes though and techniques they like to use, so covering all of their songs in the past helps MASSIVELY!
@@alexweinmuller yep for sure it's probably easier to cover songs from a band that you know well and covered a lot of songs of, even if it looks technically hard, every bands have some gimmicks

Interesting they went to Drop B! I’ve really enjoyed this album from start to finish but im so excited to see their head lining tour! Chris’s writing ability and Brian’s vocals feel like they get better & better! That’s what I said when I learned So Alone! Surprised they did another song in that tuning but it fucking works really well! And I agree man, this album is CRAZY good they all just keep getting better and better! Chris is a madman between his songwriting for this band and SOI, blows my damn mind. And thanks homie!!! The guitar solo at 2:20 you nailed. I think this album and Crown The Empire's album are the best this year in my opinion. My personal favorite is Gone astray. All your covers are sick keep up the good work!

Haha thanks man! I’m actually not sure if it’s picked like that or if it’s a delay effect, my ear sucks at differentiating that sometimes so I might’ve made it way harder than needed but I also know Chris has some crazy right hand skills 😂 and definitely do it! It’s so much fun to play these songs!

Thank you! And it’s pretty bare bones imo compared to what I’ve seen other people/pros use - I just run my guitar through a Scarlett 2i2, record through Reaper as my DAW and run Neural DSP plug-ins for my desired tones, usually Archetype Gojira for the metal stuff, and that’s about it! Haha

Haha an old ear maybe! 😂 it’s just from years of practice from learning by ear and learning/studying various genres of music, also massively helps having a decent number of Currents tracks under my belt prior to this - kinda helps understand their approach to writing/patterns they tend to lean in towards. And unfortunately I have not had the time, I’m also unsure of how I feel of making tabs for them as they’re very likely to put out a tab book soon - They’ve done so for every album and Chris also does that for his other band. I’d hate to potentially take away from some source of revenue for a band that deserves all the support!
