Master Yu Cheng Hui performs the two handed long sword. You may recognize him from his role as General Wang Ren Ze in the movie The Shaolin Temple with Jet Li (1982).
Yu is the only real internal technique we'd seen in a movie, and that pretty much holds true to this day. Even the best kung fu stars are all external, and that includes Bruce, Jet, Jackie and Donnie. (Luckily, Bruce has Ip, Jet had Wu Bin, and Jackie and Donnie have "waist", the former from having been sold to an Opera school, and the latter from his mom.)
@eteune thats three comments... shuangshou jians are actually sharp all the way unlike the qing dynasty jian as we know now and the blade is much thicker and it dates to the tang dynasty. unfortunately most shuangshou jians in the modern day are actually poor mimics of the original weapon, which is basically an extra long blade on a jian with a longer handle. please don't be a dick and mock the video. the gentleman in the video is known throughout china as the guy who brought back that sword
I have a combat weight Chinese longsword, 6 lbs and so blade heavy no one thinks you can cut with it. But it's mainly for slashing (see also: "Drey Wunder" from German longsword,) you can thrust lightening quick, and, if you have real wudang technique, like Yu, believe me you can cut. People discounting this don't know what they don't know. Yu was one of perhaps two celebrated Chinese sword masters of the prior generation, correctly, because almost no one else was quite in this league, at least not anyone who showed their art to the world.
This is so awesome, this old man has a lifetime of experience in wushu. If you'd like to watch some Wushu from students, doing an actual flash mob in London to the lines of Mulan's 'I'll make a man out of you' check out /XFxbt2ss7vY Our modern day Mulan is performing a sword form in it!
Full time. Whole life. Mastered jian before he reconstructed longsword, completed in 1975. Yu is analogous to Bob Anderson, and both are names that all historical fencers of all styles should know.
最喜欢的一路剑法,真正开大阵用的。
Thank you for sharing.
I never get tired of watching Yu Chenghui! When your beard is white, with you be as quick and precise? Can you do that form without breathing heavily?
Very nice!!

Someone with his years of experience and power? I don't think he would care

plastic sword muahahaha The flykiller swordsman xD
Is your footwork as good as his? Can you snap every cut, every time no matter how difficult? If not, Yu could have beat you with a rod.
That’s a true iron sword
