    Thanks, Kristian! Good to know what the car can make in real life. I think this range is very good for those (like me) who use the car mostly in town and make occasional trips in weekends and holidays. Cheers!

      Yeah. Even if I'm not so impressed it still delivers decent highway range 🙌

    Nice video Kristian! Don't froget about the stock tires MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE 2 SUV VOL. I think they are not really efficient. Kind of more winter tires. With the Hankook iON Evo EV that Tesla is also using now, the consupmtion should be about 5-10% lower.

      1:20 he says they're the Pirelli Scorpion all-seasons which are standard for most of the European market. I would guess they're probably more economical than most if Volvo are including them as standard equipment.

    Hi. Kristian i finally received my MY2024 Crystal White. One quite annoying thing is that steering wheel position its not totally in center....its always to little bit left when driving straight... i have claimed Volvo already so lets see what they say. Another thing is that have you noticed when parking like 94% battery left and after 15min battery is 91% despite that i shutted power off from the menu..🤔

    Do you know if the average speed of your trip meter is speedometer based or GPS based since the software is Google based? Ofc this triggers another question, if the speedometer has the usual loss, or its GPS accuracy?

    Hey Kristian! Got my c40 my24 twin a few days back and the car is great overall. But I'm having some weird noise/whine coming from probably one of the electric motors when driving around 35-48km/h. It's very annoying, not smooth noise and very distracting in city driving. In my car it's easily reproduced by setting cruise to 38km/h and driving around. Constant "whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo" . The sound is there even when coasting at around that speed. Trying to find out if this has something to do with the new engines or if it's just my car. Do you notice anything like this in your xc40? Thanks in advance if you can check! :)

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  Před 10 měsíci

      Hello. Haven't noticed anything like that. The motors are pretty quiet. However when "hard" acceleration I have a strong "whining" noise. At low speed with smooth throttle pressure, with/without ACC, it's fairly quiet.

    Hey mate - nice video, I enjoyed the cruising bits very much. My MY24 RWD Polestar 2 is stuck at Port Kembla on the other side the country to where I am in South Australia, but I hope she arrives soon. Don’t be so hard on Bazinga because highway cruising over 100km makes a difference in higher profile cars. I asked Google Bard for the differences as the extra width and 10cm height must make a difference.
    Here are the size and weight differences between the 2024 single motor RWD Polestar 2, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Volvo C40 Recharge:
    * Length: The Polestar 2 is 4600 mm long, the XC40 Recharge is 4425 mm long, and the C40 Recharge is 4440 mm long. So the Polestar 2 is slightly longer than the other two models.
    * Width: The Polestar 2 is 1800 mm wide, the XC40 Recharge is 1863 mm wide, and the C40 Recharge is 1875 mm wide. So the XC40 Recharge is slightly wider than the other two models.
    * Height: The Polestar 2 is 1502 mm high, the XC40 Recharge is 1652 mm high, and the C40 Recharge is 1622 mm high. So the XC40 Recharge is slightly taller than the other two models.
    * Weight: The Polestar 2 weighs 1970 kg, the XC40 Recharge weighs 2056 kg, and the C40 Recharge weighs 2047 kg. So the XC40 Recharge is slightly heavier than the other two models.

    Can you confirm how the car behaves at below 12% SoC? On Björn latest PS2 1000 km challenge video he had no power limit at 4% SoC, which is completely contrary to the old car which started heavy power throttling at below 12% SoC.

  • @andrei450
    @andrei450 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Highway driving really burns range, specially in a car with a very bad drag coefficient like the XC40 - the iX1 is much better on this matter. But comparing to the MY23 I consider the result a good improvement.

  • @johannesfottner8116
    @johannesfottner8116 Před 10 měsíci +1

    One question: Do you or does anyone here already have the new one-pedal-driving mode „Auto“?

  • @Alejandro-nu4rk
    @Alejandro-nu4rk Před 10 měsíci +1

    hmm 368km in highway, is this the new "improved" range, right? wltp is 535km, that is almost 200km less. I was looking into getting the c40 with extended range, but I'll do a couple of trips of about 1300km (each way) per year, I think I should not change to a full electric just yet :/

    • @rogerphelps9939
      @rogerphelps9939 Před 10 měsíci

      Don't bother with the XC40. Take a look at the Skoda Enyaq. In my experience the range is close to or even exceeds the WLTP range which is well over 500km.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  Před 10 měsíci +2

      @@rogerphelps9939No car exceeds WLTP on constant highway driving.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  Před 10 měsíci

      WLTP and highway driving will always have a huge difference. When I drove Bergen-Oslo I managed to drive 480 km. In this exact car. So close to WLTP.. Highway driving are something completely different.. Volvo's XC40 have also upgraded charging speed. Can now recharge up to 205kW 👍

    • @rogerphelps9939
      @rogerphelps9939 Před 10 měsíci

      My Skoda Enyaq regularly returns over 4.5 miles per kwh. I believe WLTP is around330 miles. My projections are for a range of around 360 miles. I do not do a lot of urban driving and not much high speed, over 60mph, driving either. WLTP will include types of driving that I do not do or do only rarely. I do not floor the accelerator off the lights or use the brakes very much either. That is how I can exceed WLTP. @@volvo_kristian

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  Před 10 měsíci

      @rogerphelps9939 Projectory and real driving aren't necessary the same.. And in my test I drove between 110-120 km/h.. Would get longer if I reduced the speed..

  • @rogerphelps9939
    @rogerphelps9939 Před 10 měsíci

    Why did you buy this? I had a test drive in one. It was OK but it was pretty clear that it had not been designed as an EV from the ground up. Furthermore the range is not that high and it really is hugely over priced. I went for a Skoda Enyaq, both a lot cheaper and much better in pretty much all departments.

    • @insideoutonly
      @insideoutonly Před 10 měsíci +4

      As far as I am aware, the only AWD enyaqs are 80x and vRS - both of which are MUCH less powerful than the XC40 Twin. Using the example closest to the XC40 Twin, the vRS...it is less powerful, slower charging, with similar range and when specced similarly to the XC40 Twin Ultimate, isn't much cheaper. The Enyaq is bigger, as it is an entirely different class of car, but equally, the Volvo is in the lower end of the luxury car segment...whereas Skoda sit firmly in utilitarian.
      So perhaps the correct question is why would anyone pay close to £60k for an Enyaq?

    • @tx617
      @tx617 Před 10 měsíci +3

      The only benefit of the Skoda is interior space. Everything else, performance, material quality, software, charging curve, seats, and even range is worse or on par at best.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  Před 10 měsíci

      The XC40 has many strengths. Design, safety, good seats, performance, good range, fast charging, good riding comfort, good lights, awesome ground clearance..
      Did you testdrive a MY23 or MY24? There's huge upgrades here. Skoda are nice, but doesn't appeal to me enough to place money on it. It's a great car but not in the same class as XC40

    • @rogerphelps9939
      @rogerphelps9939 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Why waste money on an AWD car which just wastes energy. Most ICE cars have not been AWD and neither should EVs be. As far as power is concerned as long as I can get from 0 to 60 in around 7 or 8 seconds I don't care. More power just means that the battery runs out more quickly. Having test driven both the XC40 and the Skoda I cannot say that the XC40 is a luxury car. You should try sitting in an Enyaq; you might be very surprised. My 80kwh Enyaq was £47 k and for that I got a huge boot, electrically heated and adjustable seats and lots of extras, a proper sunroof and roof bars. The XC40 was cramped and pretty so so. The way that the display behind the steering wheel did not properly mesh together with the main display told it all. It is just a conversion of an ICE design that has not been done very well. Furthermore it was clear that the dealership didn't think much of it either with very little desire to sell me one. In contrast the Skoda dealership was much more engaging.@@insideoutonly

      I beg to differ. My test drives were in summer 2022. I wanted a family car that I could go camping with, taking my family and dog. I am not a boy racer so raw power is pointless; it just reduces range. It needed to have a proper sunroof and roof bars and over 300 miles range. I tested the Kia EV6, Hyundai whatever it was called, Volvo XC40 and the Skoda Enyaq. I did not consider a Tesla because they are poor build quality, poor reliability and poor customer service according to the Consumers Association. The Volvo came over as a kludge and finished bottom in my estimation. The Skoda ticked all of the boxes and the interior finish is excellent, at least as good or even better than the others.The Enyaq has won various awards and has been rated well above the Tesla Model Y.@@volvo_kristian
