    Good review Nobby. Looks a really good car for families however brand new it is out of my price range but if your budget goes this far it should serve you well.

    i have the sister -- C40 -- love the car. top to bottom. so much better in every way compared to tesla -- other than. some efficiency... but i have plenty of range for what i need,.. as would anyone else who doesn't travel for work.

    Good review. Enjoyed it so much that I'm having a test drive soon. Did consider the EX30 but it's far too cramped in the rear - the Smart #1 is better.

    Looking forward to XE 30 test drive report. Would love to know how you get on with the minimalist interior, lack of buttons and HUD.

    You can change the loading amperage in the car so you charge more slowly .
    P(kW) = I(A) × V(V) / 1000. Handy when you pay extra for peak consumption at home, like here in Belgium.

    😅 😊 Very rarely test drivers mention the turning circle. I think it is an important thing to make our life easier in parking situations and deserved to be mentioned systematically in every test.

    • @shonunezekiel
      @shonunezekiel Před 3 měsíci

      100% agree -my primary concerns are: price, space (in back seats and boot), and then turning circle.

    Hey, great review! Please suggest what makes a better buy. This or the Kia ev6 awd. Both are the same price in my country.

    • @NobbyOnCars
      @NobbyOnCars  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The EV6 is probably more enjoyable to drive, bit more advanced for tech etc but just go with the one that you prefer the most, they’re both nippy cars to drive.

    In the UK, you can only get the 69kWh battery with the single motor. The extended range single motor (82kWh and 252hp motor) is not available. The dual motor has the 82kWh battery.

  • @jaz4280
    @jaz4280 Před 9 měsíci +7

    Over priced, 52.000 pounds in the UK for the model that has rear view camera, single motor, 69 kwh. Even the dealer selling it agrees with me. It will be sold to fleet. Individuals will pick it up one year later for 35.000 or less.

  • @Joe-lb8qn
    @Joe-lb8qn Před 9 měsíci

    I don't normally have many passengers but next week ill be taking 4 plus me the driver. That would make this with the annoying rear "transmission tunnel" either impractical or very uncomfortable. Could they not have modified that for the EV version? I drive a Soul EV which is also available as a petrol car and Kia managed to remove that hump for the EV version amd ill get 5 in the car no issue.
    Otherwise its a very nice car.

    It's 58k is for the Plus - Extended Range which charges at 200kw. The one you are test driving here with all the extras is the Ultimate - Extended Range which is 66k and charges at 200kw. Mine charges at home at a speed of 7kwh

    • @NobbyOnCars
      @NobbyOnCars  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes I mentioned that the car is from 58, I didn’t specify on trims in that context as it’s the entry point price.

  • @mad4tar77
    @mad4tar77 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Great review, thank you. It looks great, but in comparison to the competition it really is very overpriced. These will be a rare sight on the roads!

    • @DavidWilliams-be9ps
      @DavidWilliams-be9ps Před 9 měsíci +2

      All EVs are overpriced. Companies state it’s the battery cost but they’re not selling you an engine, gearbox, cat converter, exhaust etc any longer. Funny how they’ve not factored taking £5-8k off the price !

    • @mad4tar77
      @mad4tar77 Před 9 měsíci

      @DavidWilliams-be9ps I think you missed the point here. This car is overpriced relative to its competition, not relative to a utopian society where all costs are lower.

    I have the the exact same car from 1 month ago, not even close to the claimed range. Mine never gave me more range than 480 kms, more realistic it would only go to 400 kms in my extended range version, very far from what was sold.

    350 to 400 km highway driving pr. charge. It's enough for everyone, I think

    Nice vid nobby. Out of interest, is this the newer model with the extended range that you are reviewing? The previous one claims around 400km which will obviously be a fair bit less in the real world.

      @seanzielony8247 Před 9 měsíci

      I’ve got one of these and in reality 200 Miles or 330km is realistic before worrying about a top up charge.

    • @MIA-ow2js
      @MIA-ow2js Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@seanzielony8247 yeah this is the issue for me. I do a few trips to donegal each year (approx 180 miles) so the thoughts of the range anxiety get to me. Donegal wouldn't have as many public charge stations as Dublin. Getting there would be fine but finding a way to get home is the problem 😅

    • @DavidWilliams-be9ps
      @DavidWilliams-be9ps Před 9 měsíci +1

      I’ve done 265miles up n down wales on one charge and still had ca 15 miles left. Mines a front drive which is supposedly less efficient and only has the standard battery

  • @ic2433

    As a basic car I think it will be typical Volvo however from a tech point of view, I just feel like it is already well behind others and especially Tesla. This is the area where we will see cars aging faster than before. They don’t even have wireless CarPlay 🤨

    • @thegeekdeveloper
      @thegeekdeveloper Před 8 měsíci +1

      Tesla doesn't even have Apple Carplay 😂
      There's not a driving security feature Tesla has that this doesn't have. Plus it has a driver's display.

  • @joeglennon1350

    Well Nobby, would you choose this over a top-spec 2024 Ioniq 5 or the updated 2024 ID5. Family of four, city driving 99% of time

    • @NobbyOnCars
      @NobbyOnCars  Před měsícem +1

      All great EV options to be honest, I’d just go with whatever you prefer the look and feel of. If you need a good size boot, factor that in, the VW / Hyundai will probably win out there. The Volvo is a bit rarer on the roads if you like that aspect of having a less popular car.

    Where do you think the poor efficiency comes from? Aerodynamics maybe?

    • @DavidWilliams-be9ps
      @DavidWilliams-be9ps Před 9 měsíci +2

      In the main. Just compare it to a Tesla 3 or ioniq 6 to see how boxy the Volvos are. Managing air flow from the front down the sides of the car is where other manufacturers are going
