Is the steering wheel in the EX90 vegan leather?

The EQS SUV is a very good car, and I’d be buying a used one as they are suffering significant depreciation of around 50%. So if you are prepared to take a car with a few thousand miles on it. It is significantly less than what is a very expensive Volvo. I like the look of the EX90, but it’s is about 40% more than I’d ever consider paying for a Volvo

Thanks again Kristian, due to your reviews we were reassured when as a result of your videos we bought ours and with 2,500 km on the clock we still like (not love) the car! We have the Performance model and goes like stink up the dual carriageway. I have lost count of the number of Audis and BMWs that I have burnt up and I am almost over it, almost, honestly. It still brings a smile to your face as they are left wondering what the hell was that mid-size family saloon burning my Porsche up??? 🙂 Pros - Performance, battery life, comfort, suspension is amazing and copes really well with our terrible UK roads, leg and knee room, sound system, Volvo service, clean cabin and front dash, boot space for the model size. Its bloody quick in a straight line but rolls in corners! Cons - Handling and suspension a bit soft, even when turned to firm, visibility when reversing not great at the sides, central console and lack of a Drivers display (Polestar still have them), Stupid Speed Warnings (mostly wrong) and eye tracker (F*&^ing irritating and nearly always wrong). Key cards just do not work and are not practical to handle, you need a degree and a lot of time to work your way through the manual online! Auto everything with no initial explanation on how to best use it! One last gripe and that is the One Pedal Driving which is nowhere near as good as the Polestar. Maybe its just that we were used to a more agressive regen stop but personally I prefer it and felt safer in the Polestar, the EX30 can swerve randomly and in reverse it has a mind of its own! I am never quite sure if it is going to actually stop, keeps you on your toes if a little unsettling at times! The Cons list is quite long and now that I have seen the Polestar 4 I have a little bit of buyers remorse but on balance we are happy with the EX30 and most importantly the Mrs likes it, job done!!!

Even the old 340 was a reasonably good car if the engine had been looked after by a proper Volvo dealership!! Both my Honda Jazz and my Renault Zoe have been serviced by their respective agents!!

I would have the darker of the two leathers rather than the lighter. It’s more practical if you have a family!!

Didn‘t know that ‚kaputt‘ is an english word 🇩🇪 😅 My choice would be the EX90 clearly. But I don‘t need such a huge car.

As far as I’m concerned, Volvo certainly beats BMW for style, Mercedes Benz for luxury and anyone else for versatility!! The sad thing is that I was given a Volvo in the wrong era!! It was a little 340 with a lot of luxuries, but in those days they just weren’t the great cars they are now!!

40mph-68kph is about the sweet spot for any vehicle.

Maroon brown perforated+ventilated leather seats in XC90 is twice as luxurious as seats in EX90. EX90 inside is like minimalist and environmental friendly. I like the tail light in EX90 better though.

Both Sensus and Android Automotive look dated to me when compared to the GUI of a 10 year old German car. I’m NOT fond of the latest generations of VW GUIs in their EVe but their petrol cars are fine. Sadly Google hasn’t communicated any news about face lifts and so on. Android is years behind Apples CarPlay when it comes to usability and ease of use. It’s sad that the big companies can’t work together.

Interesting look back in time. How does the Google or rather Android OS fit you today? Or .. wait .. you sold your Volvo, didn't you? I'm a new Volvo owner. I'm on the latest Android Automotive OS as of today. I know Volvo will release another version tomorrow, 17 July. No changes to the GUI as far as I know though. Being an Apple iPhone user, and coming from a car without any of these "intelligent features", I'm pretty okay with what Volvo has in their cars today (as of summer 2024). I wish the display acted more like an iPhone though as I like the consistency and quality of Apple thinking better than Google. The specific touch features of the touch display are laughable compared to the Apple iPad 😄

I would definitely pay the 100k premium for the EX90 in Sweden, you’ll save it back on fuel eventually anyways, and BEVs are far superior driving experience. But I can’t imagine anyone buying the XC90 in Norway, I mean, even the range is about the same and the T8 can’t really tow due to its fragile drivetrain.

Let's be serious: It is not possible to go off-road in the middle of mountains or lakes with an "electric" vehicle. Volvo XC 90 is a better choice for this target.

Yes! I saw one on Götaälvbron last Friday, it did say "test vehicle" on it. I really hope it gets a better response than the EX30 from initial customers, it will be hard to swallow defect on a new model in this price range.

Don't buy a Volvo EX30 as if kids/dogs in car and you want to go into a shop/leave car alarm goes off, no way of stopping it! Software is very poor. If I had been told that I couldn't disable alarm, I wouldn't have bought it.

Another great video Kristian! I just received delivery of the EX30 Ultra single motor and I am having issues charging via my Tesla UK 3-pin granny charger and the display just shows “Waiting”. Appears it is a common issue and Autocar have reported EX30 customers have been refunded for the same issue. If Volvo doesn’t fix this issue soon, I will have a very expensive paperweight on my drive when my current charge runs out

Volvo and Kia two completely different things. Many people like the boldness of taking minimalistic way too far. Interior is only one aspect of the decision procedure

Kristen: Thank you for your video analysis. It is very accurate. I once drove an XC60, Volvo dealer loaner and had to pull off the road to change a radio station. I am in my mid-70s and find the display information on the speedometer panel and the center screen, too difficult to read, due to the small numbers. My 2000 V70 XC had a very clear dash display, and I could change settings without my eyes leaving the road. My present 2012 XC70 is alright but hard to read at times. The fog light switches are very small and hard to find by touch. Considering that Volvo is safety conscious, I believe its designers must completely redesign the dash modules a on all of its models. We have 4 Volvos and the older cars have better ergonomics. Thank you.
