- Clutch Design and Functionality
• The clutch design (also used in RX7) converts it from a pull type to a push type, resulting in smoother actuation and easier utilization.
• The clutch utilizes a hydraulic release bearing that presses on splines for smooth engagement.
• Compared to other manufacturers with pull type triple plates, this push type design offers better pedal feel and predictability.
• The custom flywheel made from forged aluminum provides fast revving capability while being able to handle heat during street use.
• Despite being a 7.25" clutch, the reduced rotating mass of the forged aluminum flywheel makes it behave like a smaller clutch, improving performance.
Advantages of Forged Aluminum Flywheel
• The forged aluminum flywheel is stronger than traditional aluminum flywheels used in racing applications.
• It allows for quick engine revving similar to a Mazda factory race setup
• The reduced moment of inertia and rotational mass contribute to quicker shift times and improved deceleration on the track.
• The steel ring gear pressed onto the flywheel provides durability, while a steel wear surface prevents direct contact between discs and raw aluminum.

In the future when this video gets millions of views all of us cool people will be like " yeah we watched that when it first came out". Dave is a genius.
or maybe if we see the car in goodwood one day🤔🤩
Lol
This video won't get millions of views. This guy is well known as a hack in the industry. Unless you look as inbred as he does, stop paying attention to this turd.
I was very sad to see the RX7 go, and even more so when there were no more updates on the 5 rotos for months, but now I'm excited to see what you can come up with all over again.
Love being here early in the build with the rest of you lunatics! Especially when the project is completed and brings in millions of views and new fans, we will know every part included in this build.
I feel like I'm getting seduced here
I kept checking this channel to see any progress, forgot about it for 4 months and then randomly remembered it today. Glad to see all the progress that went in so far. This thing is going to be a BEAST.
1500hp on the streets? What a mad man. I hope to see you driving one day. Great work!
it was really depressing, not seeing any updates for so long but now i can really feel it get going. Cant wait for the first drive in the hopefully not so distant future
Love these videos man, LOVE IT! I love understanding what does what
This is great news. Another awesome build will bless our ears. Can't wait!

In the future are you planning on possibly Turbocharging the five rotor rotary engine?
This is so cool i wondering if i can get a 5 rotor into my 2010 dodge challenger srt8 what do u think
🤩.
❤
Would be awesome to see your MF5 on the street!!
last time we see this piece of distress, no cable to feel the tension, pleasure lost, leg kept!😉
I run a 7.25" twin on a 2.6kg flywheel on one of our street/race cars , should rev like a motorbike 🤭🤭🤭
Siicckk
Cant wait man!
Is the car going to be streetlegal?
Does exedy not have any products to fit your needs?
I have used their triple before and had issues with it sticking / warping the plates. In my personal experience, the SPEC unit replaced the exedy and has had no issues in 3+years now
Is heat and the expansion of Aluminum going to be an issue?
It should not be an issue
Do you know how much the whole assembly weighs?
Exactly 17.00lbs total
Why not X-clutch?
Spec is local to me, good friends good product
Nice to see you taking this to the next level! If I had the bulk amount of money to buy your RX7 I would have done so, but my buddies want to make a new car from the base up.
I contacted the TransAM guys to see if there was wiggle room for a dorito/riceball engine and as expected I got a hard no from them. I can't even race the events we want with a wankel engine -- I swear -- pistonheads.
🤩.
