- The Outback is basically a cross breed, and you're getting the benefits of an SUV combined with the benefits of a wagon, without it looking too wagon-y. Nedahl Stelio spent a week with it to see how it handled family life.

nice to see and Aussie review from where I come from, and more importantly, where I am realistically going to use my new car!
Awsome review ✌
I would give it a 10/10 🙂 great video
How easy was it to reach the seat belts when you had the 3 kid seats across the back? I've got an outback and tried setting up the same configuration (baby #3 due soon), and found it nearly impossible to reach the seat belt to buckle in the booster seat! (Love the Family Reviews btw - keep them up!!)
Can u review the Skoda Kodiaq 132 tsi Sportline? Thanks
Does this get the harman kardon sound system?
Google maps certainly does not work with Car Play.
I however wish it did!
You're right, it doesn't. But it does work with Android Auto, which is also part of the media system.
Thanks
Matt Campbell
CarsGuide Forgot Android!
Just assumed everyone has the more superiors iPhones these days. Queue the fanboys 🙂
Google maps is coming to car play with iOS 12
Graham Walker that’s awesome. Apparently Waze too which is great
Nice gear shifting at 4.11
Sean McNeill Missed it....
Way better then Chevy CVT
Does she come with this car? She's gorgeous. I have a 2016 Sub Outback... it is not everyone's cup of tea... because it is very utilitarian, and being a wagon, with some clearance, but not so much an SUV that you climb up into it. I love the thing, it roll right through Canadian winters without issue. The gas door sticks in winter, and car wash jets spraying on the sunroof flex the seal, and you get some drip. Volvo was out of my price range, and the Subaru Assent was few years away when I got my OB. Have an Outback owner come up to me telling me i could depend on this ride for years... I think he had a 1990s-2000's model. Had two people ask me questions about how I like it... compared to CR-V's and Rogues, is not a common ride.
When was the last time you slammed a new cars door shut and it fell off??????????????
For some of the team here, that could be a matter of minutes ago... we tend to be enthusiasts of older cars!
Cheers

Maybe you don't get what she's saying :/
A work colleagues wife's car had the rear kids door fall off within the 3 year period. Pug 308. Not good at all.
4 weeks ago, while on holiday in Malaysia. It was a mate's 4 month old proton. The door didn't exactly "fall" off but it did pop a hinge. And boy was the sheet metal thin.
This car has the best ads.
A station wagon SUV.
Price?
greyman003 search it online plus it differs based on location
All 2.5 NA Subaru engines err on the side of slow. Good cars, but certainly not zippy, quick or any other adjective relating to rapid forward motion.
And more so with four people and luggage and then a hill appears...
Really? I went up to the Rockies at almost 12,000 feet no problems. Used a K&N air filter for the thin air. No problems at Yellowstone either
This review is hopeless. All that was mentioned is what the car felt and looked like. What fuel does it run on? 91,95,98? What is the service intervals? 6,9,12 months? What type of gearbox does it have? CVT, dual clutch, traditional automatic? Is the power steering hydraulic or electric? Is it 4wd , all wheel drive , front wheel drive? How much can it tow? Does it have a limit slip differential? What’s it diff(s) ratios? How much does it weigh? What is the cars actual dimensions in SI units? What type of induction does the engine have Atmo, forced, direct injection? What is the compression ratio of the engine? How many cylinders? What size are the tyres?
You appear to be after a sales brochure, not a review.
Subaru.com.au has that. This is a review of the car, not a live reading of its owner manual.
3 child safety seat capable? I doubt it very much, please take car to a child restraint fitting station and prove it takes 3 top rated seats!
They do have the 3 anchor points. Is it perfect? No. but it has lots of good stuff
In Australia they come standard with the clever roof rail system that turn into racks by following a quick, simple 3 minute procedure. You can strap extra passengers to the roof (like the in laws for example) when your three kids are in the back.
The Japanese Volvo wagon
You don't know a wagon from an SUV :) More like the classic Volvo V60 and before that the 850
So if the Subaru is a Japanese Volvo, does that make Volvo a Chinese Volvo. Subaru are also much better quality than the Indian land rovers.
Graham Walker you're not wrong there... check out the Swedish S90 production as it shifts to China, complete with its own train service to import them back into Europe! www.media.volvocars.com/global/en-gb/media/pressreleases/208624/first-china-built-volvo-s90-sedans-arrive-in-europe-via-ground-breaking-rail-link4
Engineered and designed in Sweden...Mass production by a company in China
Subaru infomercial ?
Its a great car. It deserves praise.
Nice vehicle but too darn gutless.
No diesel
There is a diesel!
Cheers
Matt Campbell
A deisel, which is also slow like the 2.5 and there is a 3.6 six petrol. Which is quick.
@@1969cmp Yes, the 2.0D puts out a measly 110kW, but it matches the 3.6 six cylinder for torque output at 350Nm, at a very much lower, dignified 1800 - 2800rpm too.
@@eaglen00b The diesel makes a good case in many cases.
it is now very, very average car (no 3.6 6 cyl. engine)….but a nice dress
CVT.......pass
gamerscockpit the CVT is brilliant. Stepped gearing so you won’t know it was a CVT
Graham Walker *gearing? 😂
1mandrich - I own the 2016 model Outback
1mandrich the CVT is a auto, unlike a normal CVT which has a one gear drone, it simulates gear changes like a smooth Auto. But you can use the paddle shifters if you want a manual style effect
Graham Walker some people just don't get it and jump in silly bandwagons. I haven't driven a Subaru CVT but I have others with gear step logic and they feel 99% normal. To the point that even Lexus on its flagship LS uses it.
First
ALERT..!!! The 2018 Outback has a major safety problem. If the fuel Gage indicates 1/4 to 1/2 full, YOU ARE RUNNING OUT OF GAS, and they have not found out how to fix the problem. Make sure you always have 1/2 to full in the gas tank. There is a recall on these cars.
No there isn’t
Go by the gauge not the computer average. I can get over 500 miles per tank! Yes the computer average needs calibration but that's not a major recall and takes 5 minutes
So dull and boring.
How Subaru manage to make there models all look so dated and last decade is bewildering in 2018. Great engineering great quality but design is a massive letdown
joe fattal just like Honda...
Why do you only buy a car based on looks, rather than solid engineering and safety characteristics as most sensible people do...?
GB Sailing to answer your question because If you as a car maker who can make a car as good as Subaru can engineering with quality then making it look better should not be all that difficult should it? Yet it always has been. For this brand. If Kia /Hyundai/Toyota can all do it so can Subaru yet they don’t. It’s 2018 not 2000 and it’s not good enough in my humble opinion.
nes suno at least Honda is trying
joe fattal - Honda have been asleep since the GFC. But are now finally starting to get their groove back with the Type R.
