I've had my '19 Outback Limited since March and absolutely love it. The first time I drove it, I could believe the beautiful, quiet ride. The 2.5 has plenty of spunk for me, and I see no need for the 3.6. I recommend this vehicle without reservation.

Just recently purchased a used 2019 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited just a few weeks ago. Best car I’ve ever ridden in. Quiet interior, ride is superb, engine has plenty of power, great fuel economy, and it has a lot of features.
Congratulations!!! Back in 2020 I bought an used 2018 Outback Premium trim that was fully loaded with all the optional features for that trim such as eyesight, navigation, power rear lift gate, sunroof, LED lighting upgrade and etc….3 years & 112k miles later and i couldn’t be happier!!! Very amazed with its off-road capabilities and its everyday comfortable driving experience, it’s extremely versatile and it’s fuel economy is just straight out amazing! considering its size and full time awd ability….over 30mpg on the highway is just straight out incredible!!! Plus the cherry on top is the very high resale value!!! Even with 112k miles dealers are offering me $16-$17k for it which is way higher then what I currently owe the bank which is around $11k-$12k!!! So you did a very good thing on purchasing that Outback!!!

I bought a 2018 2.5 premium just for a vacation to the Rockies, Dinosaur, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Tower , Black hills and Badlands. Drove from Ohio! 4900 miles, ran great and very comfortable
I was first introduced to the Subaru vehicles by colleagues at work. I ordered a 2015 Outback Limited in August 2014 and received it just before Christmas in December 2014. It had been a week of cold weather (-28'C) and when I arrived at the park and ride via public transit later that December evening, my new Subaru 'would NOT start'. I called a friend and he boosted my 'NEW' Subaru. The dealer examined the car and battery the next day and said it was fine, 'just drive it so that it can charge the battery'. Luckily a friend of mine is a mechanic and he came over to my house and tested the battery and suggested putting a charger on the battery. Bottom line, the battery kept failing and failing, so I returned the car to the dealer time and time again. When I picked up the Subie after work that day, I was told the 'battery checks out', its good to go! I advised the service desk tech that I was leaving the Subie at the airport park and ride for a week and that I expected the Subie to start upon our return in mid-August. You guessed it, the Subie failed to start in the summertime! Called CAA, tech advised that some of the battery cells had failed and to get a new battery ASAP. I returned to the Subie dealer and again shared my difficulty starting my expensive vehicle. The dealership would not support replacing the battery. I had my mechanic friend replace the battery the next day with a compatible battery. That battery has been in the Subie for over 125K through 4 seasons and five years later now and it still starts the Subie regardless of the weather or temperature. Bad luck I guess. We received a letter this past year informing owners of the 2015 Subaru Outbacks that if their battery failed they might be provided a form of compensation. Ok, don't laugh, but we later purchased a 2019 Subaru Outback Premier because we enjoyed the comfort, the ride and the all-wheel drive feature of the Subarus. The Lane Keep Assist feature is of concern so we don't use it. We convinced my oldest son to buy a new Forrester 2 years ago. He travels across western Canada in the summer and does winter camping in Manitoba and thoroughly enjoys his Subie! Suggested to my physiotherapist that she purchase a Subaru as she was concerned about winter driving. She received her Ascent 5 months ago and is quite pleased how it transports her family of four in comfort on long trips and that it has lots of room for her toddlers toys and how sure-footed it is when driving in snowy conditions!
Test drove this model and I have to say, coming from a 2012 Outback Subaru made leaps and bounds with this one. I also test-drove the 15-17 model years and they were excellent as well. This mid-cycle refresh rode really well and was really quiet inside, much more so than my 2012 Outback. I might consider trading my car in a few years and buying a used 2018 because of how well it performed. The interior dimensions grew, the storage capacity increased, and I got better mileage than my 2012. Funny how in just a few years Subaru's really upped their game since they've been known to make pretty agricultural sounding/handling/feeling cars

Great car that improves with every new model. I’ve had 4 of them. Used for work and play and scares the crap out of 4x4 utes easily in the rough stuff. Smooth, quiet, good fuel economy and totally reliable. Tows a tandem trailer just fine and carries my 150 Kg tool load in the back every day of the week. It’s secure unlike a Ute. Heaps of room inside for tall guys and passengers. And has a full size spare alloy wheel in the boot. No stupid space savers in the outback. Stupid little spare wheels just don’t cut it in Australia. Great car.
I'm SOOO glad we don't get the space savers in Australia anymore....!! I know they were designed to embarrass you into getting your flat sorted, but that didn't actually work on anyone!
Just purchased the 2019 Outback Limited and all I can say is...WOW!!. The drive and handling is exceptional. The features within this car are amazing. One happy Subaru owner.

I purchased my 2015 Gen 5 3.6 from Quantrell in 2014. They are the 5🌟Subaru dealer for central KY, and strive to be the best!
The 2019 has a few new features from my 2015, but not enough to jump into a new one.
That's the real selling point of the Outback, they not only hold their value, but also retains their usability.

Clear, concise, thorough review. I'm not even interested in this particular Subaru, but yet watched the entire video. The only portion I skip through is the audio/speaker test, only because it'll sound the same through the viewers listening source. Would love for you guys to take it out on a "real" test drive and/or get a full week with the vehicles like some other reviewers get.. Nevertheless, I subbed.. Keep it up guys 👍👌

My wife LOVES her 19 OBW and I LOVE my 19 Forester Touring.
It’s now 9 / 2023 and we’re still Loving our Subie’s.
My wife’s OBW has just 28K miles and my Forester has only 12K miles.
Her Outback is Cinnamon Brown Pearl with Ivory interior.
My Forester is Sephia Bronze with Saddle Brown interior.
It’s odd, but when the skies are cloudy my Forester looks greyish bronze and when the skies are clear, my Forester looks Bronze.
The new Brilliant Bronze is beautiful but it only comes in boring, dated, gloomy, dated Black interior.
The only exterior colors that you can get now with the Saddle Brown interior is White or Autumn Green.
Hopefully Subaru will eventually come into the 21st century and make Tan or Brown interior colors available with more exterior colors and in lower trim models.
Also it would be nice if Subaru would start making reliable hybrids available in all their dated models.

I’d only buy the 3.6R. Love the sound coming from that engine as well as the pickup. I’d leave the 2.5i right at the dealer.
We have a 3.6R Limited and 3.6R Touring. The 3.6R is much nicer heading into the mountains loaded with the family and gear than with the 4cl option.
My Road Tours, can you please tell me what is the AVG mileage you getting in the city? I'm getting avg 18mpg in the city and 23 mpg HWY travel with my 3.6R LMT.

Dave Ramsey Bolton id totally recommend the 3.6R over that none turbo 2.5i and for the gas crazed people the 3.6R runs on regular so that’s another plus. It’s just dealers order them 2.5i and force them down people’s throats s at a higher price as when they where releases it like a $3000 difference between the two. 😎.
I have a 2001 3.6 Outback with 255K miles and it’s still going up to 30 mpg on long road trips. It’s paid for and I couldn’t be happier to not have a car payment. I think I’ll keep it. Planning on getting 500K miles out of it at least! My next Subaru will have the 3.6 as well. Can’t bring myself to pay $ for a 4 cylinder.

I got a 2019 limited 2.5 love the comfort and nice ride. Very secure on rain slicked roads. Had an Avalon which rode like a truck compared to the Subaru.

Very helpful video - thanks. I'm interested in the Outback because my original preference, the 2019 Forester, has introduced a terrible feature which I hate and it was a dealbreaker for me. That feature is auto start stop. It wouldn't be so bad if Subaru would let you turn it off and it stayed off, but it comes back on automatically next time you start the car. If there are any Forester shoppers reading this, I suggest you download the manual, read the section starting on page 339 and decide if you want a car with that complex system, In addition to the annoyance of the "delay-jerk-move" the reliability has to suffer. Fortunately the Outback doesn't have it (yet).
Les Price I totally agree. Test drove as the Forester and that auto start stop feature felt jerking to me. Why would Subaru implement such an annoying feature that you can’t permanently turn off. Oh yeah to save gas. Total deal breaker for me too. Purchased my first 2019 Subaru Outback after being a Toyota owner for 19 years. I hope this Subaru lasts as I really love it so far.

You can't go wrong with either one... brilliant cars.
IMO the new RAV4 feels really cheap compared to my 2018 outback. The only concern with outback is the unknown reliability of the cvt, and slightly underpowered.

Hey, I just took delivery of my 2019 Outback Limited 3.6R last month, but didn't find a cargo cover in the trunk a few days later. Should it be included? I live in Canada, not sure how all the accessories work compared to the US.

The 175hp of the 19 and older is sluggish as is the 20 and newer 182hp.
We have found that the CVT robs the engine of hp, torque and mpg.
The CVT is cheaper for Subaru to make, but they CANNOT be rebuilt, so you have to buy a new one for a starting price of $8K.
Subaru says to never change the transmission fluid, but you better have it changed every 60K miles or it WILL FAIL.
The Only Way to get 33mpg is going downhill with a strong tailwind. Expect 29mpg on the freeway and 24mpg around town with the 2.5L 4cyl.

I am very interested in the 3.6R Touring but disappointed in the limited colors available. The 2018 was available in a dark blue. The 2019s have only 4 colors for the Touring trim, and they do not include the dark blue. The Limited trim is available in the dark blue but I have to add options packages to bring it up to the features the Touring has. Not happy with this decision, Subaru.
I’ve got a 2018 Outback 3.6R Touring. Fantastic vehicle! No comparison between the 3.6 engine vs. the 2.5 engine. The 6 cylinder boxer engine makes the Outback a totally different (better!) vehicle. Significantly more power, quieter and smoother, and the 3.6R cruises at only 1800 rpm at 70 mph, vs. 2600 rpm for the 2.5 engine. The 3.6 never feels “stressed,” whereas the 2.5 engine feels to be just adequate for most driving situations.
I am very pleased with this vehicle, and glad that I purchased the top Touring model.
I'm glad to read this comment. I'm about to test drive an Outback after months of research and looking around online and my focus is on that 3.6R. Always helps to hear feedback from someone who owns the car and has experienced it.

hello. does outback 2019 have Auto Vehicle Hold AVH ?
Just traded in my 2018 WRX limited yesterday for the 2019 Outback 2.5i touring and I love it, however the passenger side dash speaker malfunctioned on the drive home. All kinds of distortion coming through the speaker. Naturally I called my dealer and am taking it back to be looked at, but does anyone know what could cause this? Had the volume no higher than half way. Thanks.

The 2019 is still based on the 'old' platform. All the other important Subarus, including the Forester, have now moved to the Global Platform.
The 2020 Outback will be based on the new platform and be all-new.

The 2019 Outback is exactly the same as my 2018 Outback in features and trim offered. I thought that the 2019 2.5i would at least come with the direct injection instead of the port injection of the 2018. BTW, I like that punchy tip in of the throttle.
I been trialing new injection and blow molds for the 2020. They are little different but mold the same
The 2019 was not going to have significant changes. 2020 will be the major redesign.

I would suggest a wider camera lense, as most of the footage was often too crowded.
We actually just upgraded to a new 4k camera with a wider lens. It helps a lot!

If anyone own or has own a Subaru, specifically an outback, iwould like to ask for some help. More detailed on the transmission, had anyone had any issues with the transmission? It is a cvt and I think we all know that CVT's don't have the best rep. Or has anyone had any other issue with other major parts ?
I have a problem with my interior light, it seems that they turn on automatically when i am in close proximity, i didnt even open any door. Is there anyone else having this problem?

I have a 2018 OB LMT 3.6R.. Not sure what is up with the Navigation. A trip from Austin to Oklahoma. The car nav, route the side route , not interstate. All the setting that I can configure are for interstate . The software is updated. When I called Subaru customer service they said it is current version. Very disappointed in the Navi. Also another problem is with apple play , when you connect the USB cable to the IPhone X, can not stream audio from Direct TV NOW. Though if the IPHONE X is connected via Blue tooth , no issue with apple play, with Direct TV NOW app. I don't even use the onboard, NAV , I think it is junk worse then WAZE apps, or my Garmin GPS that I had bought 6 years ago for 600.00 , which has the current map 2018.

Does anyone know the lowest vertical distance from the passenger seat (where one would sit noth the headreast) to the ground? We are looking at one of the upper trim levels.
have a 2018 outback camera does not do a good job duin rain storms or fog any ideas
just rub a bit of RainX on the lens. I use it on all my windshields. You can also get the washer fluid with rainX. This avoids even having to worry about fogged windows.
Help please! I just drove a 2019 Outback 2.5i Premium, but found that the rear view mirror is so low that it blocks my field of vision. At the dealership (live in California) I was told that I just need to get used to it! It's the car of my choice as long as I can resolve the rear view mirror problem. What can be done? Thanks.
I'm 6 feet tall and have the same problem with my 2011 Outback. I've just had to get used to sinking my head into my shoulders and leaning right and left to see around that stupid mirror. But remember, the Asians who design these cars are not "American Made" in stature.

Shop around. I got mine a invoice but only after talking to more than one dealer.
I paid $36,000 out the door for '18 3.6 Anniversary edition. Put $500 down and financed $35,500 (basic math :D) at 0% for 63 months. $532/mo isn't bad for something that was MSRP $39,900.

I have seen in some videos that reviewers are complaining about Subaru's outback does not facilitates storing Full size tire. Is this true in case of 2019 Subaru Outback?
Many of the people leaving comments never drove the early versions of Subaru's. I had a 1980 for my first one. It was so basic it hurt. My 1989 had a digital dashboard, sunroof and 250k miles on the clock. It was well worn out but reliable. Our 2010 Forester was pretty basic but still had more options an any 1980. I own a 2014 now and it took me 2 months to find all the options and learn how they worked. People nowdays are Uber spoiled with bells and whistles. They should offer a base model with NOTHING available Like I had. Then those people can have something to complain about.

Ours was installed by the dealer. I had it installed on my wifes 2010 Forester by an after market company. Personally, I prefer the dealer installed option. zyou can get it added to your order if you order your Subaru or just have it installed at a later date. For Northern Michigan winters, its a must have item.

Yes, you can tow. None come with a trailer hitch installed( its an option) Go with recommended tounge weights as outlined in the manual. Anyone that says you cant, please explain why the manual lists the tounge weight.

Subaru japan have nothing to do with subaru of america and subaru of america dealers are just a franchise,so subaru of america can't help if you car come defective but they offer me $1000 dollars towards the purchase of a new car when i just got a 2019 outback

Cars need more LED lights and ditch the regular bulb lights.
I ordered the LED replacement set for $15 on E- Bay. It took me about 20 minutes to replace all the interior and exterior standard lights with the LED. I also installed blue under dash lights and replaced the curtousy door lights with custom Subaru projection lights.
@@scottfirman Does anyone know if the projector housings for LED headlights are different to halogen projector headlight housings like Xenon/HID projector housings were previously? You may find LED replacements in halogen housings, while better than halogen in general, might not be as bright as proper projector housings designed to channel the higher volume of LED light.
Does it have heated side mirror?
Certain models do. Ours does. It is part of the window warming system. The icon shows the back window and mirrors if I remember right. It took me two months to find out all the options on our 2014. Now there are even more!
Heated is cool (no pun intended), but I'd love it more if the Outback's mirrors folded in automatically when the car turned off instead of using a dedicated separate button to do it!
I dunno, it just isn't that exciting for me! It seems to me, all the new cross overs look exactly the same as the other cross overs just Eck!!
Outback is one of the most reliable daily car. However, it is little boring for the driving.
As you would expect from a reliable, versatile, all-wheel-drive station wagon...jesus.
The Outback is not perfect at any one thing, but it is a great all around car. I own an 18 3.6R Limited, and, compared to my old Mustang, it is a little boring to drive, but the 3.6 has pretty decent power to make it somewhat exciting. It’s comfortable, practical, reliable, and excellent in inclement weather. If you want something more exciting, get a sports car. If you just want something great all around, the Outback is great.

It's interesting to see how other countries implement their different versions of the same car.
In Australia, the 2019 Outback has been kept relatively simple:
- 2.0 Turbo Diesel
- 2.5i Standard Petrol
- 2.5i Premium Petrol
- 3.6R Premium Petrol
In Premium trim, the only difference between the Australian 2.5i and the 3.6R is:
- The engine (duh)
- No auto stop/start in the 3.6R
- No fake 7th gear on the 3.6R (only goes to 6 on the flappy paddles)
- Harmon Kardon sound system in the 3.6R
- Heavy duty CVT transmission in the 3.6R
Beyond that it has just about all the extra features you see offered in other countries with no in-between optioning other than colours. All models here are CVT only. No manual transmission options anymore (they did this to be able to make EyeSight standard across the range).
The Australian 2.5i Standard and 2.0 Diesel is cut back from Premium trim as follows:
- Smaller touchscreen (6.5" vs 8")
- No leather (cloth instead)
- No vision assist tech (so that's the ADB, BSM, FVM, LCA, RCTA and SVM features dropped)
- Halogen headlights instead of LED
- No steering responsive headlights
- 17" wheels instead of 18"
- Can't change colours of the gauge cluster
- No SI-Drive modes
- No auto stop/start info
- No powered tailgate
- No auto-dimming rear-view mirror
- No side-sill plates
- No electric seats (all mechanical)
- No sat-nav
- Only one USB port (really, Subaru? Is that really saving THAT much money?)
- you DO get one feature that the Premiums don't get though - an illuminated ignition ring (because it's not keyless start)!
All adding up to a saving of around AUD$6K under the 2.5i premium (only AUD$4K saved for the Diesel).

if your going to drive cars in your reviews it would pay to learn how to hold the steering wheel correctly. you would fail your drivers test in Europe or UK. NZ AUS ect. I think it must be an American think as i see many new car reviewers in the US doing this. just constructive criticism. good review other wise
Thanks! In America driving instruction is almost non-existent on important stuff, so we certainly don't receive any guidance on steering wheel holding... whatever's comfy haha
@@CarConfections I was lucky enough to be taught by a former HWP officer, turned driving instructor. Hold the wheel at 9 and 3, don't wrap your thumbs around the wheel - place them on the front side of the wheel (prevents you from stress-gripping it and fatiguing your hands, and in old cars can save you from broken thumbs in a frontal collision) and adjust your seat distance such that you can reach your arm and rest your wrist on top of the steering wheel with a slight bend in your elbow without leaning forward in the seat to do so - this gives you sufficient arm length to do 180 degree steering with one arm without having to always resort to hand over hand steering (not that there's anything particularly wrong with the latter in my view, but I'm told it affects reactionary efficiency).
I wish they were better looking, eye of the beholder and all that. But these just look unappealing to me. Looking at a (new, updated interior) Buick TourX. Not as much ground clearance, but I'll never off road my car.
Is it not true that the Subaru outback has the highest cost of ownership over a ten year period assuming you buy it brand new? I believe consumer report outlines this. Also it not true that the timing belt on the four cylinder model has to be changed at around 140,000 klms . And it will cost you between 1600 dollars Us and about 2200 dollars Canadian? And the last technical issue is the monitoring eyes which are mounted on the windshield in proximate with the rear view mirror , if something hits the windshield like a stone or other debris the whole car shuts down? Now tell me why I should still buy a Subaru again?
I believe the 2018 2.5 engine has a timing chain rather than a belt (we own one). I THINK the change hit in 2014 with the latest engine update.

Cvt transmission kills the whole car
I have had two Subaru's and neather one as ever experienced issues with the transmissions. The head gasket on my 2010 Forester was another issue.
I agree that it pulls back the "effective" power a bit - not laggy as such, but slightly watered down somewhat - but at least the throttle is still generally responsive with no dead zones like some other brands. You can get off the line reasonably quickly, just not as quickly as before.

Car kinda sucks. Was hoping it would be more interesting. Everything looks way to basic, not anything special for 2019 compared to what trims toyota even has. Too bad because this was an option. Lol.
People please don’t make the same mistake my family a i did this cars antifreeze reservoir goes emty every 2000 miles and subaru service say is ok so i told them so i don’t have to fill it? They say you have to fill it up so i have to go to the dealership every 2000 miles the car only have 10,000 miles,windows don’t wipe when you roll your windows down which is a extreme hazard when is raining very hard i have to open the door so i can see also this car stop on us for no reason.this are the worse car and the service is the worse you have to prove them that something is wrong with your car they don’t have mechanics only service people that don’t care about you and if a mechanic to check your car it will take forever and they don’t have loaner cars because they have to many recalls.if you want to be happy and have a nice night sleep skip subaru go with anything because is better than subaru and all the subaru dealers they just a franchise that subaru family comercial is a joke they took like 2 months just to inspect my car and they say everything ok,no loaner car so they offer a rental wich i have to put my credit car on front they say they will refund us $2200 3 months and we diden’t get our money

Very poor materials dashboard comes already stain and sticker film on windshield wich they refuse to see or clean very bad service subaru .don't waste your money
Thats the detailers fault, not Subaru. I have no sticker residue at all on my vehicle. Every vehicle sold has to be detailed after the sale. Simply returning the vehicle and asking to have sticker residue removed should work. If not, they sell goo gone. That works great.
Yea subaru corporation fault also because i went back to the dealer the next day and they gave a real bad attitude so i just went home and call subaru and is nothing they can do about it,i talk to the manager at the dealer and he just acted like a real idiot so i never went back there now i deal with subaru and is nothing they can do about it

The materials in this car are the worse
No light under the hood, and no glovebox light, but it has lights on the side mirrors. 😅 Subaru sucks. Top mount oil filter is a flawed design too. No one can put the right amount of oil in it. And my 1995 2.3L Honda Prelude has more power than this 2.5L boxer pice of shit. Dam new cars are trash. Also my back tires are bald on my Outback but not the front so it is not really AWD all the time like a Mitsubishi is. Also no AUX input on the radio. I guess you got to be a fanboy to love Subaru.
Learn better grammar and you might have more impact in your opinion.
