My thoughts exactly. 😞
Before the divorce!! Main point was that the divorce ruined him, idk why this comment has so much likes it paints a different picture that he liked the divorce.
Att it’s sad that their relationship fell apart
It's cool that he became happy again after marrying and having a baby. He even healed physically. That's amazing
He once said, “if you are racist, sexist, homophobic, or basically just an asshole, don’t buy this cd. I don’t care if you don’t like me, because i HATE you.” Those words struck me and later did i find out that pretty much all the guys i hang out with in highschool are assholes and most of my family except my mom, god i love her to death shes such a good mom

I remember seeing that thing about "don't buy my records if you're a homophobe" in the liner notes of Incesticide and thinking how cool that was that he had such good hearted beliefs and had the balls to state it. Kurt was a special guy.
@Clau C. Yes he would
Honestly
@@danejurus69 I've never really liked people like that tho honestly. People always think that when someone is a homophobe or racist that they're a bad person, and while a lot of the time I find myself getting mad at them too I try to understand that it's because of ignorance. My grandparent was racist but she still was a "Good" guy. She put all of her money into our family and helped raise me when my mom wouldn't. It's all about ignorance, there's an awesome Ted talk with this guy, I forget his name but he's black, and he befriends a KKK member, who was the leader in the surrounding area, and after years of being friends with him and trying to understand him the KKK member gave up the Klan.
He was such a conscious guy. Sensitive and assertive at the same time. What a great person and a great artist.

Depends on what you consider a 'great' person to be like. Artist, sure.
I enjoyed the question, “how do you sing?” I don’t think I heard another interviewer ever ask someone that especially with someone like Kurt who has a distinct style of singing. Seems like a question Kurt wanted to answer too.
John Frusciante said on Kurts voice... "the sound of his screaming... I cant think of anybody who's done it so...who's just aah, such a complete celebration of insanity, type scream. It's just a wonderful sound. When i listen to it I think about what it must have felt like to have that sound coming through you."
Yeah it was a really great interview. The whole conversation is on CZcams if you haven't heard it already.
Hilarious how I read that comment while watching and when I saw your comment I was at that part of the video lol
Kurt was a man who fought for the rights of women and LGBT community. He defended victims of bullying and he fought against racism and sexual abuse. Because he had a lot of sensitivity and wisdom. I'm just tired of reading comments like: "he is overrated" or "he was just a depressed junkie". He did many more things for the others than all the people who talks shit about him.
Was definitely liberal
For those of you who want to know how he died, Im not gonna go into detail but kurt was depressed and was on drugs. The man wasnt able to handle having a kid in fear it would have a family life like his. He enjoyed his music but not much else. His wife was pissed with him and was greedy. Some think his wife killed him but shhe beat him up that night.he out of his mind on drugs and depressed, finished the job and she didnt have to do anything. The cops investigating were payed off to close the casem also, read the letter he wrote. Is that really kurts words? No his suicide letter isnt his
@Monster Mash what are you? A pro american bullshit boy who fucks his sisters and hates gays? Get a fucking life
Kurt would be a libertarian today. Socialism and communism wouldnt sit well with him in my opinion.
I dont care
"I haven't been this optimistic since before the divorce" - well ain't that the saddest thing I ever heard
it seems so tragical seeing at this point, with him saying how optimistic he is but now we know how it ended anyway... got me sad too
Flávio Neto tragical?
If you submit to the suicide theory, that's fine. I did too. But I challenge you to do this. Watch Soaked in Bleach on Netflix start to finish. Then reply to this thread and let us know if you think the suicide theory still holds up and why. We all have a limited view of the world around us and that's what shapes each of our own unique perspectives. It's pretty difficult to see with your eyes shut, I think that much we can all agree on. Well truth isn't seen thru the eyes. The "truth", is an evolving ideal that takes shape within the mind. Open up your mind and you just might see how distorted your view of the world really is.
RIP Kurt Cobain
Derek Reese I don’t think it was a suicide :/
Totally sad. My parents divorced when I was sixteen and I didn't think that it had any kind of noticeable negative impact on my sister and I's life till years later. And it turns out that.... it FUCKED US UPPP!!!! It really did though. I'm going to do my damnedest to ensure that first off, I truly choose a good one. Second I will do everything in my power to make it work, unless it's negatively affecting the kids. I think that why kids born in the 90's are so often single or at least not making the relationships super serious and how we're very slowly to tie the knot much less have kids at a young age
Kurt Cobain is one of the few people I feel I can relate to. Obviously I never knew him, he was dead before I was born, but there is something about this guy that just feels real and genuine. He's a massive inspiration to me and I aspire to be able to stand up for what I believe in as he did.
He's not really dead. As long as we remember him

I can’t believe how genuine and opened he is about his life.
Yeah, he's really open-MINDED.
Wut? He constantly lied in his interviews LMAO especially about heroin but he explained later on he felt like a role model whether he wanted to be one or not so tried to not inspire any dumb teenager to try smack. Kurt’s like the spider-man of music: He was a guy with values, morality and consciousness who suddenly jumped on to the spotlight, but in this case because of expressing his music not necessarily fighting crime.
Is that not like every super hero ?
I have always thought the same, that is why his music and style look so good in the new Batman movie.
He was and is a hero for all those who, despite not knowing him, his music has saved us in one way or another.
Because hes relatable like spiderman

Also, as a woman, I find it beautiful to see men being aware of women’s oppression
The sad thing is this is nearly 30 years later and things haven’t improved. In a lot of ways it’s going backwards. I live in a very toxic southern state. Male chauvinist immaturity is rampant here. The part that gets me is when he says how he feels so much better and optimistic. Knowing Frances was born during the time this was recorded, he had to have died within a year or so afterwards. That hurts.

This was nearly a year after she was born. She was born on August 18th, 1992, and this was recorded on July 22nd, 1993.
@@urmom-lf1yd @Elsa Hartmann
Frances was born the same year that my eldest was born- accept I was a lot younger than Kurt.
I don't know the truth of the matter, just the speculation of the pre-internet generation flotsam-which makes me a lazy Gen-Xer, I guess, for not Googling this and making a citation.
I remember someone, who I thought was important at the time, saying that the Cobains were a working class family and his Dad was part of the logging industry of the Northwest. When the industry tanked, so did his father get tanked, at home. Mom and Dad started bickering too much and they split. And then this is where the myth of Cobain started cropping up; Manic punkrocker, person who raged against bu11sh1t he saw everywhere, part looney-toons cartoon character who watched his tour van blow up with his bandmates, rags-to-(credit)riches at an early age, responsibilities of numerous people relying on his talent to "entertain us" for their paychecks/livelihoods, (most likely) borderline wife, constant pain, eventual drug adiction, not providing his kid the home life that Cobain so desperately wished that he had, and then the end. Too many pressures on a working-class kid from the Pacific Northwest.
We forgive your death Kurt; We constructed you and so, like the death of someone who was murdered on the Ides of March, we all had a hand in your demise.
Father Badger I thought his dad was a mechanic or something with cars. I read that part from Heavier Than Heaven, it’s also in Montage of Heck. The saddest part in that movie is towards the end, when it’s Bean’s first haircut. He’s holding her and nodding out, while Courtney is cutting her hair, and Eric is filming it. We all know he had a drug problem, it was really unnecessary to put in the movie.
I love this interview. It shows us how sensitive and intelligent Kurt was. He wasn't this psycho death rocker that some people made him out to be. He didn't have the maniac ego or macho attitude that a lot of other rock and roll stars had. I mean, how many other big musicians were speaking out against sexism, racism and homophobia? Most wouldn't risk upsetting their fans or losing money. And it wasn't just that Kurt spoke out against those things, you can tell that it really bothered him. I know people are fascinated by Kurt's tragic end and his battle with depression and drug addiction...But what's amazing to me is that, despite all the pain he felt, despite all of his personal demons, he was still a truly empathic and thoughtful person.
Actraiser1, "how many other big musicians were speaking out against sexism, racism and homophobia?"
Almost every big musician in the 60s?
RIPdixiecarter I was talking about other rock and roll bands from Nirvana's era...
If you mean during the grunge/alt rock era I would still vouch to say almost every big musician including Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, Thom Yorke, or Rage Against the Machine. Grunge in general was quite socially political. Some of those musicians listed are or were even more insightful and witty than Kurt.
Though I don't see the issue with some musician prioritizing solely on the music and having fun with their fans who go to their shows to escape the bullshit paradigm of reality that hasn't and will never change. Some people prefer the separation between music and state
I'm pretty sure the majority of rock stars who are not Ted Nugent condemn bigotry
THIS.
Michael Jackson sang against those things! 😛
I knew he was a chill dude but I never knew he was this chill and ahead of his time with his social attitudes etc. In an era where things like Friends TV show was popular.
i frickin love his speaking voice. it's so weirdly soothing, and i love listening to the things he has to say, too. a lot of interviews are mostly about the music, but listening to him talking about himself as a person for once is really nice.
He did not fit into this messed up world. A man like him is so rare. He was so sensitive and profound, and he cared too much. He respected women and understood them. And he put up with Courtney. He was lost in the chaos and anesthetized in his pain. And yet, he was probably the most awake and aware of us all.
Sensitive? Take drugs.
oh stfu " A man like him is so rare" the thing is no one cares about outsiders like he was, thats why they are seemingly rare because we don't fit in the society

"Never met a wise man
If so it's a woman"
Colin Boyd yea I’m not even a hue nirvana fan but it’s pretty obvious
*kurt
but he was the good kind of feminist, now modern feminism is really nothing alike
Kurt Cobain was a "Feminist" in the way every normal person is a Feminist-- a classical Feminist who wants equality for women. It doesn't mean he'd be a 2019 militant Feminazi who demands equity over equality (equality is everyone getting the same opportunity to prove themselves; equity is getting the same result regardless of capability). This is where modern day Feminism has gone off the rails. Kurt could never endorse this ideology because it's a form of unfairness also, albeit dressed up in a new disguise.
I promise you this much, if Kurt were still with us today he would not identify with the modern day era of '4th wave Feminism'. It's because above all else, Kurt Cobain was an anti-establishment rebel by nature. He was a rebel waaaay more than he ever was a politically minded individual.
Kurt would distance himself from the modern day Feminist ideology because he'd notice that the Left are the ones who have become the powerful establishment figures currently suffocating artistic expression. It's the Left who have assumed cultural power at this point, and have morphed into the same joyless, school-marming, tyrannical Puritans conservatives were during the 1940s-70s. It's the Left who's smothering comedy, art, and music these days. It's the Left who's preventing honest discourse. Don't think for one minute Kurt wouldn't see these things also, and that he wouldn't utterly detest the effect it's having on society-- the same way his fellow punk rock icons Johnny Rotten & Johnny Ramone have.
The Bottom Line:
Kurt Cobain would be railing against today's political climate as fiercely as he railed against 80s glam metal because opposing the rigid, uptight Left is the new counterculture. It's the new "good fight" for sincere rebels everywhere to take up in order to reclaim freedom of expression.

11lululuv Nah, I disagree with Kurt, he sounded kind of like an sjw. Women don't really want men like him, they want the macho rockstars. It's the harsh truth. You may respect women, but will they respect you?
pringelsthegamefreak He was an sjw. He cared about social justice. That's a good thing, no matter what your alt-right gamer culture might have brainwashed you into thinking. And it's established that Nirvana had way more female fans than the more traditionally macho bands in the Seattle scene. So yeah. Not really sure what you're on about.
pringelsthegamefreak No, we don't. The only people who idolize "macho" men are other men.
Exactly, it's really idiotic that we now live in a culture that demonizes and fears natural human empathy for others.
Lmao you just tell yourself that so you can justify acting like an asshole. Every guy I ever rejected was a macho dickhead and I relished in their bitterness when I chose a sweet compassionate guy who has similar beliefs to Kurt (who I am still with years later). I never regretted rejecting any of those assholes for a second and they are still all acting like the stereotypical egotistical high school jock in their early 20's, still all single, it's sad, they all peaked at around 17 and even then they were pathetic. But they obviously value acting like immature assholes over having human relationships so all of them, and you, can continue to rot alone.
... well that was both the most comforting and straight up depressing thing I’ve ever seen :/
I know exactly how Kurt feels about Ireland. I went there a few years ago for a family reunion that happened after my grandfather passed. It was the most calming and at home I’ve felt anywhere. If I could live anywhere it would be there.
i love this man more than anything. this is my all time favorite interview. no dumb boring questions.
The thought that there's ppl out here actually hating on kurt bc he preached against hate cultures is pretty baffling to me
I’m personally a fan of Kurt. However his beliefs are wack. Plus he was a heroin addict. His head wasn’t straight
@@jaegerentertainment6865 ah yes, believing that women and homosexuals should have the same rights as everyone else is indeed pretty wack. I see your point with the heroin addiction tho lmao, but my point was that ppl were hating on him for preaching against hate

He was so adorable. Whoever got to meet him was very blessed. He seemed so down to earth. To think decades down after his death, Courtney would go out and make a heroine story out of herself and his life.
courtney killed him
I love you Irish and Alex
Probably an empath. They get owned by society
Yes we do
I agree but I also know that it’s all changing now. 😊

I'm genuinely interested in knowing more about the personality types, what other kind are there, are people wired differently , guess I have known that all my life but found no words to put it in , sorry for asking too much, going through a personality crisis
@@zulu2885 go read class 12th psychology book ncert
He was such a genuine and wholesome person. I wish he had felt the joy that he brought so many people. I don't want to mourn him for our sake. I don't want to say I wish he had continued to live a long life of depression.
I want to say that I wish he had been able to get the help he deserved and to live into this time and make many friends, see the progress we've made, with gay marriage and women's rights, and I wish he could enjoy it all
The world has gone totally nuts now tho, don't you think? Sometimes I feel that some people got outta here while the going was good as if they knew where it was all degenerating into insanity. My parents and brother have died and I know they wouldn't have handled what we are living in now.
@@tracik1277 I feel that sometimes, when I think about people who died before 2020, I have a strange sense that they got to leave without knowing what was coming or having to live through it. It's not the right response, and maybe I only feel that because so little good has happened in the last year or so, so maybe that feeling will fade when things get better again. I get the same feeling knowing people passed away before 9/11 so they didn't have to see or be effected by all of the chaos that surrounded it.
In a weird way, sometimes, one can envy the dead.
@@vaszgul736 Yeah, my parents died before 9/11. That would have freaked them out too much. They lived through WW2 (I am old! - and bored lol and they were old when they had me, my sister is old enough to be my mum, so yeah...) and in a way I feel like that was worse than the war because it was so shocking and during so-called peace time.
But then, my son is 26 and he is very down to earth, he takes so much in his stride and just keeps on his path. Nirvana was his womb music lol.
I hung out with Nirvana on September 26,1991,when they played a pals club,The Moon,in New Haven,CT.Kurt was beyond human,he kept going outside the club and bringing in the penniless underage kids,at least 20,who hung out at shows but we're too young or too poor to get in.My pal was pissed, only 168 people paid that night, but I saw a true punk juggernaut in action,Kurt was it.
Edward Feltch wow you must have a good memory that only 168 people paid !
Didn't know he had scoliosis. Now I can relate to him on a higher level. Every day, every minute, every second is just pain. Even after surgery.

Agata A - I’m sorry for your suffering. I hope u find relief in the near future.
I wasn't alive when Kurt was at his peak and his band, but my dad was and through hard times when my battery died and I couldn't listen to my music, or my dad was fighting with my mum, his Nevermind cd always helped us through those times.
I miss him, and again I wasn't alive for when he lived, but rather than I missed it when I believed he was alive, breaking the news to me was like an equivalent of him dying this year.
Have a great time in heaven Kurt.
I often come back to this. You guys did an amazing job, perpetuing things that are important. ❤️

This is seriously one of the best interviews I ever heard
I’m a high schooler going on the college right now. I feel the exact same way Kurt feels: alone, that no one cares abt you, that you wished your family life was better. But after watching this video I gained a sense of hope that if Kurt was able to feel happy later on in his life, so can I. I’m glad you made this video!
Dont bring yourself down, you are loved even if you dont know it yet. Stay positive, stay healthy and take life lightly (even when everything feels dark, remember that they were many who suffered like you and worse, but they survived by being firm, searching for help and having a good sense of humour)
God bless you
But he did perform suicide
@dread true but its hard though. When you become super friendly and positive then they stop chatting or act like u did something wrong. U know like u just dont belong they deny you and all that stuff
@Midas Why do people need an intimate partner? After all, love is not real. It's an evolutionary trojan horse to deceive you into recreating. All love IS conditional.
abey joshi sab teekh he na ?

Just for the fact I knew I wasn't t alone in feeling certain ways about humanity.

I got the feeling that you could read Demian, by Herman Hesse. Let me know if you read this comment
Wtf? I’m not even going to ask😂
Check out Carl Jungs personality theory. No one's alone ✌🏻
alot of people without a platform think the same thing, kinda narrow minded to think that aside from you, kurts the only one who feels like that about humanity
I watched Kurt Cobain's documentary 'Montage of heck' on HBO and it was so devastatingly beautiful. He was a beautiful soul.
It's devastating to know that only 1 year after he decided to end it all, he was feeling "optimistic and happy" :((
I agree but I think a lot of people who kill themselves do it after everything seems to be better in their life. If they don't kill themselves at their lowest point, they might possibly have moments where they think 'life could get better' so they hold on to a fragile sense of hope. But when everything seems to be going really well in their life, they might struggle to cope with their depression even more than when they were at their lowest point. They think 'I should be happy. Now I have everything I've ever wanted so why can't I be happy still? Why can't I appreciate what I have?' They then begin to think there is no hope for themselves and to think that the world and the people in their life will be better off without them. It's the cloudy thinking of depression - and it goes to show how people who say 'stop being depressed, just go out and do something, create the life you want' etc are talking complete rubbish. Depression is a deep psychological problem that doesn't go away because of life circumstances.
Bi polar depression wasn’t as understood in 1994 as it is today. I feel like Kurt would probably be “fine” one day and suicidally depressed the next. If he had been properly diagnosed and medicated before he started self medicating with opiates in his early 20s… we might still have him. Truly a tragic loss - one of the great musical geniuses of our time (and any time). xo
@@mariamoon2527 It's so good of people to share their stories about suicide and then maybe all of the crazy conspiracy theories would just go away.
I always thought this one of his best interviews.
is there a full interview?
There is a great Kurt Cobain audio interview like this Blank On Blank interview in a documentary called "Kurt Cobain: About A Son" (2006) Those audio recordings were made by Michael Azazard who had interviewed Kurt for an authorized Nirvana biography book called "Come As You Are: The Story Of Nirvana" (1993) They used hours of recordings of Kurt talking about his life in the documentary.
The full interview is Kurt Cobain - Jon Savage Interview 1993.
Its actually on iTunes

I love the way you guys draw Kurt. He looks so precious... RIP Kurt Cobain, we all miss you dearly. Keep on being yourself wherever you are. ❤️❤️❤️
This interview was done a day after my first birthday. I’m now the same age Kurt was when he died. I fell in love with Nirvana when I discovered them in high school, though I never really understood why. Recently I’ve been delving a lot more into Kurt and Nirvana and the more I learn, the more I find I relate and understand why they became my favorite band. My parents had split in high school and went through an ugly court battle. I was also one of the quiet socially awkward kids who didn’t have many friends and utterly blew any chances I had with girls. My life was nowhere near as strenuous as Kurt’s but what he wrote was the perfect expression for the alienation and anger I felt, and really helped me through one of the toughest times in my life. I only wish I could say thank you and that the world had returned the kind of empathy and compassion Kurt felt toward everyone else, and also that he felt that same love for himself.
He was so sensitive and so intelligent. He had a very fragile, tender mind in the sense that he had preserved the child in him. And with the divorce it only locked it in him. Thats why he was confused in school and only talked with the girls, becausw he connected with them because he had this sensitive outlook on things. Thats why he thought he was gay, because everyone called him that. I have a classmate who hangs out only with the girls and to be honest he kinda looks like Curt. Guess what they call him gay as well. With music he expressed himself, his voice crying beautifully. He then realised he soon had a gf and even a baby.... So much to handle already in thought that he still feels like a kid. And that no one acted with him in an acording way to his amazing character. Drugs and depression only added up to shit, and the pressure for things as well. He was tired and its okay. After everything its his life. No one is going to live it for him. If he felt like he couldnt do it and it would be best to preserve what he already had in hope someday someone will appreciate it, then he did the thing that is best for him.
I've been told I looked like them and I don't know but I see that he has a high sense of knowing what's going on but not really had a chance to express it, I also hang out with mostly girls because they're so interesting yet exhausting but it's nice to hear his story and I enjoyed listening to his voice on this interview
he probably connected with girls more because girls are more expressive, and less extreme usually.
People with scoliosis tend to have stomach problems, but scoliosis is rare in males. Then again, he was a rare male.
Stomach pain is a symptom of heroin withdrawal. He said he used heroin to alleviate his stomach pain. I think he didn't want to face the fact that the pain was coming from his addiction so he blamed it on his anger. That's just speculation though
noobenstein Nah you're still the edgelord

kurt had scoliosis? wowie i had no clue, so do i. love this interview. 😌
+Emma Hagel thanks for watching.
what is scoliosis
+Darragh Noone scoliosis is curvature in the spine, for example, a straight spine would be 0°, mine was at 97°. so i had surgery two years ago so now mines at 26° or so, and i have metal rods and screws in my back. my case was genetic but kurt's was most likely caused by the way he held his guitar and his posture. hope that helps! ☺️
ok thanks for telling me and im sorry to hear that you have scoliosis
Or you're an idiot.
Kurt seems like such a chill dude. Wish I could’ve been alive to meet him.
Such a great interview, good talk guys...
Poor kurt. He was truely just a tortured soul. R.I.P.
+fcuk you Oh yeah, he was a middle class kid from Washington whose parents got a divorce. Boo fucking hoo for him. Please, any torture he experienced was either self-inflicted or imagined by his fans
+SirGarforth I know people like him. I don't know about you but I couldn't survive thinking like that when so much bullshit happens to me I'm just prepping for the next thing cause it could be even worse! But I guess you need people who will reflect on these things. It's where a lot of good art comes from.
+sirgarforth Yh i can see where ur coming from on this. He did have a pretty good upbringing to say the least. But noone just kills themselves gor no reason. Maybe there was a deeper meaning behind his suicide
+fcuk you they got to him. like Dave Chppele said "what can cuse a man to run into bthe streets screeming ' theyre trying to get me'". And then they try to make it look like Courtny did it. Just look at all the comedians, and revolutionary artists who commit suicide. Anyone whith that much influence over the masses is a threat to anyone who wants to keep things as they are you knw?
But thats just a thought.
youre right, they have picked off so many people not only cause they know the music or whatever message they created can be sold by the machine and theres no need for that individual anymore but also so theyre not in a position to contradict the machines cash flow...

I have so much compassion and love for this human that I have never met, really sad things didn’t work out for him. But I think he would be really happy to know what he left behind for some people and what great joy he was able to bring to other peoples lives
He's a very thoughtful person. Very smart guy! RIP Cobain! Thank you for inspiring so many people, and being so real!
I don't complain about my life and the generation I live in but everyday when I walk around the halls of school people call me school shooter because I listen to his music I keep my hair long and I am never happy. They don't know that I'm not happy because of them. Whatever happens to you or whatever people say, don't listen cause as long as you stay true to yourself they can't bring you down.
