My favorite genre too 😊 I cannot get enough of them!! There is not enough Lesbian historical fiction!
Same, if I could read only one genre it would be historical fiction (preferably gay) 😂😂
I’ve never picked up a historical fiction. Now I want to read them all... :subscribes:
I’m converting one person at a time😂
The video we needed
+Madi 💛
This is exactly what I was looking for I love lesbian historical fiction!!!!
glad it helps🥰
I've seen the handmaiden and that's when I put two and two together and figured out the handmaiden was made out of fingersmith by Sarah waters
thank you SO MUCH for this video omg, i’ve only read YA f/f historical fiction and have never been sure where to start for other titles. also i adore your shirt!!!
+stringbean books okay but YA f/f historical fiction? I need to know what it was. I’ve only read Sillhouette of a Sparrow, and I know about Wildthorn (?). It’s a dress :)
Tipping the Velvet is my favorite historical fiction book. I wrote Sarah Waters about how much I loved it and she wrote back!
OMG! I had no idea she accepts letters! I bet it felt amazing to get her reply.
@@BooksWaffles it was amazing. She was so thoughtful and gracious. I will try and find it!
Thank you! This is such a lovely, thoughtful video. I've been looking for f/f historical fiction recs for quite a long time, and found your channel. So happy! My friend keeps recommending "Patience and Sarah" to me, and now I am definitely going to read it. PS. I would love to read something set earlier than the 19th century.
Patience and Sarah is such a delight! I highly recommend it (it’s set in early 19 century, so not exactly what you’re looking for but it’s good). I might actually have a few recs for books set earlier but have to look at my shelves🧐
Great video, looking forward to the next one.😊 I've read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and liked it a lot! Have not read any of the Sarah Waters books you talked about here, but I've read Tipping the Velvet (loved it) and Affinity (liked it). Love reading about the victorian era:)
+Mie Reads you should totally read her other books! They’re all well written and have fascinating plots. She does with historical fiction what a lot of people don’t, which is very appealing. Like for example in Affinity she delved into Victorian ideas about spirituality and occult and that was not what I expected from it at all.
@@BooksWaffles True! And concidering how different the two books of hers I have read were, I think she has a big range and the ability to surprise me in new ways with her other books as well 😊
I need to step up my Sarah Waters game. The Night Watch sounds so good as does Evelyn Hugo which has been on my tbr for ages. I'll definitely have to read them soon along with the rest of these recs. I like to read a lot of classics and historical stories as the weather gets colder. Nothing like curling up with some tea and a good historical novel :D
A thick historical fiction book is all I need on a snowy winter weekend🤓 I highly recommend both of these, and all Sarah Waters to be honest
The only Historical Fiction I've read outside of English class is Daisy Jones and the Six so I definitely need plenty of recs!
+lost in a booKCase always happy to hear that people are willing to pick up historical fiction. It’s such an under appreciated genre imo
Thank you much!! I live for your recommendations
+Valentina M always happy to rec f/f books💛
Thanks for making this video. Since high school I was amazed by, motivated and humbled by LGBT Fiction. Have not read really anything as far as Lesbian stories. A couple years ago I did dive into the works of the hardly known Dutch writer Anna Blaman and after that became intrigued to read more Lesbian oriented books. Eager to check out the titles you discussed here and watch more of your videos.
💜💜
i lost your channel for a long time, I'm happy now that I found you again TT
Hi✨ glad you’re back!
Tipping the Velvet is my fave Sarah Waters too XD XD
The sexy looking one sounds like something I need in my life, I'm adding that to my list
+Secretgirl97 had to scratch my head for a bit about the sexy looking one😂 A Little Light Mischief?
@@BooksWaffles Yeah the saucy romance novel cover XD
thank you!! i've been wanting Portrait of a Lady On Fire but book edition and have been looking for good wlw historical fiction
the fact that i know where your username came from😂😂
@@BooksWaffles pffttt hahaha
great recs 💕💕
+cryingaboutbooks 💛
I love everything about this video ❤️
+BookCave thank you😌
My favorite so far is Backwards to Oregon and others in the series, I watched tipping the velvet and finger smith and have no desire to read the books 📕
I love the BBC adaptations but I love the books more. Especially Tipping the Velvet, they had to cut out some things.
This is such a good recommendation video 👍 thank you for making it!
i have always had rotten tastes by falling in love with lesbians (ok well... once). perhaps i should read some les-lit?! fascinating to hear about something that until right now i knew nothing about. thanks
+James G S Westmancott I’m not sure lesbian literature is going to solve this issue, but why not?🤷🏼♀️
